Trust Jesus Christ—E Still De Lead Us Today

Trust Jesus Christ—E Still De Lead Us Today

“Na one Leader wuna get, and na e be the Christ.”—MATT. 23:10.

SONG: 16, 14

1, 2. Wetin make things no dey easy for Joshua after Moses die?

JEHOVAH tell Joshua say: “My servant Moses don die. Now, make you get up, cross the Jordan, you and all this people. Enter the land wey I de give them.” Joshua no forget this thing wey Jehovah talk. (Josh. 1:1, 2) E no expect this change, because e don serve as attendant for Moses for almost 40 years!

2 Moses don be the leader of Israel people for long time. This one fit make Joshua de wonder whether the people go agree make e be their new leader. (Deut. 34:8, 10-12) One book wey e de talk about Bible matter talk something about Joshua 1:1, 2. E talk say the time wey things fit scatter or spoil for any country, whether for olden days or for our time, na when they change their leader.

3, 4. How God bless Joshua as e trust the thing wey e talk, and which question we fit ask ourself?

3 E no bad as Joshua fear. But after some days, e show say e trust Jehovah and e follow wetin Jehovah talk. (Josh. 1:9-11) And Jehovah bless Joshua. Bible talk say e use angel guide Joshua and Israel people. We fit talk say this angel na the Word wey be the first Son of God.—Ex. 23:20-23; John 1:1.

4 Jehovah help Israel people make they fit accept the change from Moses to Joshua, as their leader. Today too, plenty big change de happen. So we fit ask say, ‘As Jehovah’s organization de progress and things de change, we get better reason to trust Jesus as our Leader?’ (Read Matthew 23:10.) Well, make we see how Jehovah lead e people for Bible time when things change.

WHO LEAD GOD’S PEOPLE ENTER CANAAN?

5. Wetin happen to Joshua as e de near Jericho? (Check the first picture.)

5 Small time after Israel people cross the Jordan, something wey Joshua no expect happen. As e don de near Jericho, e meet one man with sword for hand. E no know who the person be, so e ask: “You dey our side or na our enemy side you dey?” Joshua surprise when the warrior talk say e be the “chief of Jehovah’s army,” and e dey ready to defend God’s people. (Read Joshua 5:13-15 and footnote.) As e dey for other place for Bible, na God talk with Joshua. But na angel e use, as e don do-am sometimes before.—Ex. 3:2-4; Josh. 4:1, 15; 5:2, 9; Acts 7:38; Gal. 3:19.

6-8. (a) Why e be say some of the things wey Jehovah say make Israel people do fit be waste of time for their mind? (b) Why the direction come for the right time and why sense dey? (Still check the footnote.)

6 The angel tell Joshua how e go take over Jericho, and wetin the angel talk dey clear. If person first think-am, some things wey the angel talk fit no be good plan. For example, Jehovah command say make they circumcise all the men. This one mean say, they no go fit fight for some days. You go talk say na the right time to circumcise this men be this?—Gen. 34:24, 25; Josh. 5:2, 8.

7 Maybe the soldiers fit de think how they go protect their family if the enemy attack them. But the thing wey they no expect just happen. They hear news say Jericho people ‘lock their gate well because of Israel people.’ (Josh. 6:1) Because of this one, Israel people go don get strong belief for the direction wey God de give them!

8 The angel still command Israel people make they no attack Jericho. Instead, make they march round the city once everyday for six days. And for the seventh day, make they march round-am seven times. Some of the soldiers fit don think say, ‘Hey! See as person just want waste e time and energy!’ But their Leader wey they no de see know wetin e de do. This plan make the faith of Israel people dey strong. Apart from that one, they no fight the strong soldiers of Jericho face-to-face.—Josh. 6:2-5; Heb. 11:30. *

9. Why e good make we follow anything wey God’s organization talk? Give one example.

9 Wetin we fit learn from this story? Sometimes, Jehovah’s organization fit begin do things for new way, and we fit no really understand why they change. For example, e fit be say when we start to use things like phone for personal study, for preaching, and for our meeting, we no like-am. But now, we fit don see say e dey good to use them if e dey possible. When we see the good result of this kind change even if we no agree with-am before, our faith de strong more and e de bring us together more-more.

THE WAY JESUS LEAD GOD’S PEOPLE FOR TIME OF THE APOSTLES

10. Who direct the important meeting wey the governing body do for Jerusalem?

10 Around 13 years after Cornelius don become Christian, some Jew people wey they be Christian still de talk say e dey important for person to circumcise. (Acts 15:1, 2) This matter bring argument for the city of Antioch. So they arrange make Paul carry the matter go meet the governing body that time for Jerusalem. But, wetin make Paul really go? E talk say: “I go there because the Lord show me clear say make I go.” E clear say na Jesus Christ direct the matter so that the governing body go settle-am.—Gal. 2:1-3.

Na Christ lead God’s people for apostles their time (Check paragraph 10, 11)

11. (a) Wetin some Christians wey they be Jew continue to believe about circumcision? (b) Wetin Paul do to show say e support the elders for Jerusalem? (Still check the footnote.)

11 Christ help the governing body to make-am clear say Christians wey they no be Jew no need to circumcise. (Acts 15:19, 20) But some years after they don decide this one, plenty Christians wey they be Jew still de circumcise their children. Then the elders for Jerusalem hear one rumor wey them de spread about Paul say e no de follow the Law of Moses. So because of this one, the elders tell Paul make e do something wey e no expect. * (Acts 21:20-26) They tell Paul make e carry four men go the temple so that people go talk say e de “follow the Law.” Paul for talk say sense no dey wetin they say make e do. Or e for say na the Christians wey they be Jew get the problem as they no understand this matter about circumcision well. But Paul dey humble and e see say the elders want make God’s people dey as one. So e do wetin they talk. But we fit ask say, ‘Why Jesus still leave this matter for ground for long time even when e death don end the Law of Moses?’—Col. 2:13, 14.

12. Wetin fit be the reason why Christ allow time to pass before e settle the matter about circumcision?

12 For some people, e de take them time to understand new truth. The Christians wey they be Jew need plenty time to change the way they understand the matter. (John 16:12) E no easy for some of them to accept say e no dey important for person to circumcise before e go get special friendship with God. (Gen. 17:9-12) Some other ones de fear make they no suffer them for their community because them dey different. (Gal. 6:12) But as time de go, Christ still use letters from Paul tell them other things wey they go do.—Rom. 2:28, 29; Gal. 3:23-25.

CHRIST STILL DE LEAD GOD’S PEOPLE TODAY

13. Wetin go help us value the way Christ de lead us today?

13 Today, some things fit change for Jehovah’s organization, and maybe we no understand the reason well. If na so, make we try think about the way Christ lead God’s people for Bible time. Whether na for time of Joshua or time of the apostles, Christ don always give God’s people direction wey sense dey. This one protect them, e make their faith strong, and e help them to remain as one.—Heb. 13:8.

14-16. How the direction wey “the faithful and discreet slave” de give us make-am dey clear say Christ want help us get strong faith?

14 For our time, “the faithful and discreet slave” de give us direction for the correct time. (Matt. 24:45) This one show say Jesus love us and e want make our faith dey strong. Brother Marc wey e get four children, talk say: “Satan de attack family to try make congregation dey weak. But as them de encourage us make we de do family worship every week, the message to family head be say make they protect their family. The message dey clear!”

15 When we see the way Christ de lead us, we go see say e want make our faith dey strong. One elder wey e name na Patrick talk say: “When we just start to gather as small-small field service group for weekend, e no sweet some people. But this arrangement show us one of the main character wey Jesus get. Jesus de care about people wey they feel say they no dey important. Brothers and sisters wey them de shame, or wey they no de too preach don feel say we value them and them dey important.” This one don make them de do more for the preaching work.

16 Christ still de help us make our mind dey for the preaching work. Today, na this work dey important pass for the whole world. (Read Mark 13:10.) One brother wey they just appoint as elder, de always follow any new thing wey Jehovah’s organization say make we do. The name of the brother na André. E talk say: “They reduce the number of people for different-different branch office. This one remind us say na small time remain, and we need to put all our power for the preaching work.”

HOW WE GO SHOW SAY WE DE SUPPORT THE DIRECTION FROM CHRIST?

17, 18. Why e good make we think about the benefit wey we don get as we support how things de change for the organization?

17 Jesus Christ na our King, and e de give us direction. This direction go help us now and for future. So make we dey happy for the benefit wey we de get as we de support the change for the organization. Some things don change for our meetings and preaching work. E dey good make wuna talk about how wuna don benefit from this change for wuna family worship.

You de help your family and other brothers and sisters to follow Jehovah’s organization as things de change? (Check paragraph 17, 18)

18 If we remember say plenty benefit de come out from the direction wey Jehovah’s organization de give us, e go fit make-am dey easy for us to follow-am and we go dey happy. For example, we de glad say as we reduce the amount of things wey we de print, e de save money for the organization. And we like as we de use new technology because e de help us to reach more people with the good news for the whole world. When we get this one for mind, e go fit help us see other ways to use the different-different book and video wey we get for our website. This one go show say we de manage things well wey the organization get, as Christ want-am.

19. Why e dey good make we support the direction from Christ?

19 When we try our best to support the direction from Christ, e go help us dey as one and the faith of our brothers and sisters go strong more-more. Brother André still talk about the number of people wey the organization reduce for Bethel for the whole world. E say: “The way former Bethelites support this change make me get more trust and respect. The way them de glad for any assignment wey they give them, de show say them de follow Jehovah’s chariot as e de move.”

GET FAITH AND TRUST OUR LEADER

20, 21. (a) Why we fit trust Christ, our Leader? (b) Which question we go answer for the next topic?

20 Jesus Christ our Leader go soon “win finish” and e go do wonderful things. (Rev. 6:2; Ps. 45:4) But for now, e de prepare us for wetin go happen for Paradise for future. That time, we go teach people wey God go resurrect and we go help to make the whole earth turn to Paradise.

21 When we trust our King well even as things de change, e go lead us enter the new world. (Read Psalm 46:1-3.) Sometimes, e fit no dey easy to accept change especially when e affect us for the way we no expect. So when e happen to us, how we go fit get peace of mind and strong faith for Jehovah? We go answer that question for the next topic.

^ par. 8 Archaeologists (people wey them de study the way people de live for olden days) see plenty grain wey people store for the place wey Jericho dey before. This one show say they no surround Jericho for long time and their food no finish. God no allow Israel people carry things from Jericho. So na the right time for them to enter the land because na harvest time and food plenty for the land.—Josh. 5:10-12.
