How the Law Show Say Jehovah Love People and De Treat Them Well

How the Law Show Say Jehovah Love People and De Treat Them Well

“God love wetin dey righteous and judgement wey partial no dey. The love of Jehovah wey no de fail full the earth.”—PS. 33:5.

SONG 3 We Trust Jehovah, E De Give Us Power and Hope

WETIN WE GO LEARN? *

1-2. (a) Wetin all of us want? (b) Wetin we fit dey sure of?

ALL of us want make people show us love. And all of us want make people treat us well without partial. But if people no de always treat us well and show us love, e fit make life tire us and make us feel say we dey useless.

2 Jehovah know say we really need love and we want judgement wey partial no dey. (Ps. 33:5) We fit dey sure say our God love us well-well and e want make people treat us well. We see this one clear for the Law wey Jehovah use Moses give Israel people. If you de feel bad because people no de show you love or treat you well, make you no worry. See how the Law of Moses * show say Jehovah care about e people.

3. (a) As Romans 13:8-10 explain, wetin we learn when we study the Law of Moses? (b) Which questions we go answer for this topic?

3 When we study the Law of Moses, we go learn the fine way Jehovah our God de show love. (Read Romans 13:8-10.) For this topic, na just some laws wey Jehovah give Israel people we go talk about. We go still answer this questions: Why we fit talk say na love be the foundation of the Law? Why we fit talk say the Law move people to treat other people well? How the people wey de direct matter for Israel suppose to use the Law? And na which kind of people the Law really protect? The answers to this questions fit make our mind come down, e fit give us hope, and draw us near our dear Papa Jehovah.—Acts 17:27; Rom. 15:4.

LOVE NA THE FOUNDATION OF THE LAW

4. (a) Why we fit talk say na love be the foundation of the Law of Moses? (b) As e dey for Matthew 22:36-40, which commandments Jesus mention?

4 Love na the foundation of the Law of Moses. Why? Because na love de make Jehovah do everything wey e de do. (1 John 4:8) All the laws for the Law of Moses wey Jehovah give, come from two main commandments wey be: love God and love your neighbor. (Lev. 19:18; Deut. 6:5; read Matthew 22:36-40.) So we fit talk say, each of the more than 600 commandments for the Law de teach us something about the love wey Jehovah get. Make we see some examples.

5-6. Wetin Jehovah want make husband and wife do, and wetin Jehovah know? Give one example.

5 No leave who you marry, and make you de care for your children. Jehovah want make husband and wife love each other well-well and make their love last forever. (Gen. 2:24; Matt. 19:3-6) Na serious bad thing for person wey don marry to go sleep with another person, or commit adultery. This kind thing no show love at all. No wonder the number seven commandment for inside the Ten Commandments talk say make person wey don marry no ever sleep with another person. (Deut. 5:18) This one na “sin against God” and na wickedness to do this kind thing to the person wey we marry. (Gen. 39:7-9) The innocent husband or wife fit feel the pain of this kind bad thing for many years.

6 Jehovah de notice how husband and wife de treat each other. E really want make Israel people treat their wife well. Husband wey de respect the Law go love e wife and e no go divorce the wife because of any small reason. (Deut. 24:1-4; Matt. 19:3, 8) But if serious problem happen and the man divorce the woman, e go give the woman certificate of divorce. This certificate de protect the woman make they no lie for e head say e don put hand for sex matter wey God hate. Apart from that one, before the man go fit give e wife the certificate of divorce, e fit be say e go first go see the elders for the city. This one go give the elders the chance to do wetin they fit do make they help the husband and wife settle the matter. No be everytime Jehovah de do something when any man for Israel divorce e wife because of wetin e want gain. But, e see the woman tears and e feel the pain wey the woman suffer.—Mal. 2:13-16.

(Check paragraph 7-8) *

7-8. (a) Wetin Jehovah command papa and mama make they do? (Check picture for front cover.) (b) Wetin we learn?

7 The Law still show say Jehovah want make children for family dey happy and make they feel safe. Jehovah command papa and mama make they give their children the things wey they need as them de grow. But no be only that one. They go still help them make they be good friend with Jehovah. Papa and mama go use all the chance wey they get to help their children understand and value the Law. And they go help them learn how to love Jehovah. (Deut. 6:6-9; 7:13) One thing wey make Jehovah punish the Israelites that time na because of the wicked way wey them treat some of their children. (Jer. 7:31, 33) Papa and mama no go see their children as ordinary property wey they fit abandon or treat anyhow. Instead, they go see them as wetin they inherit or as gift from Jehovah wey they need to value well-well.—Ps. 127:3.

8 Wetin we learn: Jehovah de notice how husband and wife de treat each other. E want make papa and mama love their children, and they go face e judgement if they treat their children anyhow.

9-11. Why Jehovah give law make e people no de hungry for the property of another man?

9 No allow wetin no be your own hungry you. The last commandment for inside the Ten Commandments talk say, e bad well-well for person to begin hungry for another man property. (Deut. 5:21; Rom. 7:7) Jehovah want use this law teach e people one important lesson. Wetin be the lesson? E people need to protect their heart, or the things wey them de think and the way them de feel. Jehovah know say wicked things wey person de do, de first start from wetin person de think and how e de feel. (Prov. 4:23) If any person for Israel allow bad thing wey e want to grow for e heart, e fit begin treat other people for bad way. For example, King David enter that trap. Na true say David na good man. But e get one time wey e begin put eye for another man wife. E put hand for sin because of the thing wey e heart want. (Jas. 1:14, 15) David sleep with another man wife, e try to deceive the husband of the woman, and e arrange make they kill the man.—2 Sam. 11:2-4; 12:7-11.

10 Jehovah know when person want the property of another man for e heart. E know when any person for Israel break this law. God fit read wetin person de think about and how the person de feel. (1 Chron. 28:9) Wetin this law mean for the people be say, they no go begin think anything wey fit make them do bad thing. This one show say Jehovah na Papa wey really get sense and wey love people!

11 Wetin we learn: Jehovah no de only see how person be for outside. E still de see wetin we really be for inside, or wetin dey inside our heart. (1 Sam. 16:7) No matter wetin we de think, no matter how we de feel, and no matter wetin we do, we no go fit hide-am from God. E de look for the good thing wey dey our heart, and e want make that good thing grow. But e want make we notice any bad thing wey de enter our mind and control-am before we put hand for the bad thing.—2 Chron. 16:9; Matt. 5:27-30.

THE LAW WANT MAKE PEOPLE LIKE JUDGEMENT WEY NO GET PARTIAL

12. Wetin the Law of Moses teach us?

12 The Law of Moses still teach us say Jehovah love judgement wey partial no dey. (Ps. 37:28; Isa. 61:8) Na the example of Jehovah be the number one example of how to treat people well. The laws wey Jehovah give Israel people dey righteous. So when they no follow the laws, them de suffer. But when they follow the laws, Jehovah de bless them. Make we talk about two other laws for inside the Ten Commandments.

13-14. Wetin the first two laws for inside the Ten Commandments want make people do, and how Israel people that time go benefit if them follow-am?

13 Worship only Jehovah. The first two law for the Ten Commandments make Israel people know say na only Jehovah they go worship, and make they no try to worship idols. (Ex. 20:3-6) Jehovah no give them this commandments to benefit e self. Instead, na to benefit the people. When the people no leave Jehovah, e bless them. But when they worship the gods of other people, they suffer.

14 Think about the people for Canaan. They worship idols wey no get life instead of the true God wey dey alive. Because of this one, they useless theirself. (Ps. 115:4-8) And because of how them de worship their gods, them de put hand for sex matter wey rotten and de use their children do sacrifice. Na so e still be when people of Israel leave Jehovah and decide to worship idols. This one de make them useless theirself and bring pain to their family. (2 Chron. 28:1-4) The rulers stop to judge matter well and stop to treat people fine, as the law want make they do. They use their power anyhow and oppress people wey them dey weak and no get person to help them. (Ezek. 34:1-4) Jehovah warn e people say e go judge anybody wey de treat women and children anyhow and de oppress them. (Deut. 10:17, 18; 27:19) But when the people hold Jehovah tight and they treat each other well, Jehovah de bless them.—1 Ki. 10:4-9.

Jehovah love us and e know when we de feel pain because people no treat us well (Check paragraph 15)

15. Wetin we learn about Jehovah?

15 Wetin we learn: People wey claim say them de worship God but they no de do wetin e law talk, de cause trouble for servants of God. Person no go blame Jehovah when this kind thing happen. But even with that one, Jehovah love us and e know when we de suffer because people no treat us well. God de feel our pain pass the way mama de feel for e baby wey de suffer pain. (Isa. 49:15) Na true say Jehovah fit no do something about the matter at once. But when time reach, e go judge sinners wey no stop to treat other people anyhow.

HOW THEY GO USE THE LAW JUDGE?

16-18. Which things wey de happen for people their life the Law of Moses talk about, and wetin we learn?

16 The Law of Moses talk about many things wey de happen for Israel people their life. So e dey important make the elders no judge the people with partial. They no go only handle matter wey concern the worship of Jehovah. When two people get problem and when person no do wetin the law talk, the elders go still handle-am. See some examples.

17 If person for Israel kill somebody, they no de kill the person just like that. The elders for the city wey e dey, go find out wetin happen before they go decide whether the correct judgement na to kill the person. (Deut. 19:2-7, 11-13) The elders go still judge many matter wey de happen everyday, like when people de drag property and when people get problem for their marriage. (Ex. 21:35; Deut. 22:13-19) When the elders no do partial and Israel people obey the Law, everybody de benefit and them de bring praise to Jehovah.—Lev. 20:7, 8; Isa. 48:17, 18.

18 Wetin we learn: Everything wey de happen for our life dey important to Jehovah. E want make we treat people well and make we show them love. And e de notice wetin we de talk and do, even when we dey alone for house.—Heb. 4:13.

19-21. (a) For Israel, how God want make elders and the people wey de judge treat e servants? (b) How the Law of Moses protect people, and wetin we learn?

19 People for other lands de live near Israel people, but Jehovah no want make e people do like them. Instead, e want make the elders and the people wey de judge no do partial when them de use the Law judge. So when them de judge, they no go treat the people for hard way or dey harsh to them. Instead, they go love judgement wey partial no dey.—Deut. 1:13-17; 16:18-20.

20 Jehovah get pity for e people, so e put laws wey go make people no treat them anyhow. For example, the Law make-am no easy for person to fit lie for another person head. The person wey they talk say e do bad thing get the right to know who talk-am. (Deut. 19:16-19; 25:1) And before they go judge the person say e do the thing, at least two person wey see wetin happen go prove say na true. (Deut. 17:6; 19:15) What if somebody for Israel break law and na only one person see-am? Make e no think say e fit escape punishment. Jehovah see the thing wey e do. For family, God give papa authority to do things, but e get where e fit do reach. For some kind family problems, the elders for the city get the right to talk for the matter and make the final decision.—Deut. 21:18-21.

21 Wetin we learn: Jehovah show us the best example; e no de do anything with partial. (Ps. 9:7) E de bless people wey obey e laws, but e de punish people wey use their power anyhow. (2 Sam. 22:21-23; Ezek. 9:9, 10) Some of them fit do wicked thing and e fit be like say they escape punishment. But when Jehovah see say the time don reach, e go judge them. (Prov. 28:13) And if they no repent, small time they go see say “to enter the hand of the living God na the worse thing wey fit happen to person.”—Heb. 10:30, 31.

WHICH KIND PEOPLE THE LAW REALLY PROTECT?

When elders de handle matter for time of Israel, they need to imitate the way Jehovah de show love and how e de judge matter well (Check paragraph 22) *

22-24. (a) Who the Law really protect, and wetin we learn about Jehovah? (b) Which warning dey for Exodus 22:22-24?

22 The people wey the Law really protect na people wey they no fit protect theirself, like people wey no get papa, widows, and strangers from another land. God tell the people wey de judge for Israel say: “Make you no do partial when you de judge the matter of strangers or pikin wey no get papa. And make you no seize the cloth of any widow because you want make sure say e pay you wetin e borrow.” (Deut. 24:17) Jehovah show say e really love and de care for the people wey no get person wey go help them for the community. And e punish the people wey de treat them anyhow.—Read Exodus 22:22-24.

23 The Law still protect family members make they no ever sleep with any person for their family. (Lev. 18:6-30) People for other lands wey de live around Israel people de allow this kind thing or de even support-am. But Israel people need to see this kind bad thing as something wey dey rotten, just the way Jehovah de see-am.

24 Wetin we learn: Make any person wey Jehovah give right to care for e people do the work well and show love for all the people. Na wetin Jehovah want be that. E hate any kind of sex matter wey dey against e law. And e want make sure say they protect and judge everybody well, especially the people wey they no get person wey go help them.

THE LAW NA “THE SHADOW OF THE GOOD THINGS WEY DE COME”

25-26. (a) Why we fit talk say the Law help Israel people to fit near Jehovah as friend? (b) Wetin the second topic for the four part articles go talk about?

25 To love and treat other people well be like life and air wey we de breath. For this earth, life and air de go together. Our love for Jehovah de grow when we dey sure say e de treat us well without partial. And when we love God and the things wey e talk say make we do for Bible, our heart de move us to love people and treat them well.

26 The Law covenant help Israel people make they fit get better friendship with Jehovah. But, God’s people no need to obey the Law again after Jesus don come do all the things wey the Law talk. Na another better thing come replace the Law. (Rom. 10:4) Apostle Paul describe the Law as “shadow of the good things wey de come.” (Heb. 10:1) The second topic for this four part articles go talk about some of this good things, and why e dey important to love and treat people well for inside congregation.
