Finish Wetin You Start

Finish Wetin You Start

“Finish wetin wuna don start to do.”—2 COR. 8:11.

SONG 35 De Do the Important Things

WETIN WE GO LEARN? *

1. Wetin Jehovah de allow us make we do?

JEHOVAH de allow us make we choose the thing wey we want use our life do. E de teach us how to choose good thing. And if God like the thing wey we choose, e go help us make we fit do-am. (Ps. 119:173) The more we de use the sense for inside Bible, the more we go fit de choose better thing.—Heb. 5:14.

2. Wetin fit hard us after we don decide something?

2 But even if we decide good thing, e fit still hard us to finish wetin we don start. Make we see some examples. (1) One young brother decide say e go read the whole Bible. The brother do-am well for some weeks, but after, e come stop because of something. (2) One sister decide say e want be regular pioneer, but e begin push the date go front. (3) The elders for one congregation decide say they want de visit the brothers and sisters for the congregation more-more, so that they fit encourage them. But after many months, this elders never still do wetin they decide. This three examples different but the truth be say, na the same rope tie all of them. The people decide something, but they no do wetin they decide. Some Christians face the same problem for Corinth, for time of the apostles. Make we talk about wetin we fit learn from them.

3. Wetin the brothers for Corinth decide, but wetin happen?

3 Around the year 55 C.E., the brothers for Corinth make one important decision. They hear say things hard for their brothers for Jerusalem and Judea and them de suffer. They still hear say other congregations de gather money wey they go use help them. The brothers for Corinth dey kind and they get open-hand. So they decide say they go help their brothers for Jerusalem and Judea, and they ask apostle Paul how they go fit help. Paul tell the congregation wetin they go do, and e choose Titus make e collect the money wey they go contribute. (1 Cor. 16:1; 2 Cor. 8:6) But after some months, Paul hear say the brothers for Corinth never do wetin they talk. Because of this one, their contribution fit no dey ready the time wey other congregations go send their contribution go Jerusalem.—2 Cor. 9:4, 5.

4. As 2 Corinthians 8:7, 10, 11 talk, wetin Paul encourage the brothers for Corinth to do?

4 The brothers for Corinth make good decision, their faith strong and they get open-hand. So Paul really thank them. But e still encourage them to finish wetin they start. (Read 2 Corinthians 8:7, 10, 11.) Their example teach us say even faithful Christians fit struggle to do the thing wey they don decide.

5. Which questions we go answer?

5 Like the brothers for Corinth, to do wetin we talk say we go do fit hard us. Why? Because they born us with sin, we fit just de push wetin we want do go front. Or something wey we no expect fit make-am hard for us to do the thing wey we don decide. (Eccl. 9:11; Rom. 7:18) Wetin we go do if we need to check our decision again and see whether we need to change-am? And how we fit make sure say we finish wetin we start?

WETIN FIT HELP US TO DECIDE WELL?

6. Wetin fit make us change the thing wey we don decide?

6 We no go ever change some important things wey we don decide. For example, as we don choose to serve Jehovah, we no go change-am, and we no go leave our husband or wife. (Matt. 16:24; 19:6) But some things wey we don already decide fit need to change. Why? Na because things de change. Wetin fit help us to decide well?

7. Wetin we need to pray for, and why?

7 Pray for sense. Jehovah make James write for Bible say: ‘If any of wuna need sense, make e continue to beg God. E de open e hand give everybody things and e no de complain.’ (Jas. 1:5) For some ways, all of us “need sense.” So tell Jehovah make e help you to decide well and help you when you need to change wetin you don decide. Then Jehovah go help you to choose well.

8. Which research you need to do before you decide something?

8 Do research well. Make you check Bible, read our book them, and talk to people wey you fit get good advice from. (Prov. 20:18) This research dey important before you decide say you want change your work, or place wey you de live, or before you decide the kind training wey you want use support yourself so that you fit continue to serve Jehovah.

9. Why e good make we check the reason why we de make decision?

9 Think about why you make that decision. Jehovah care about the reason why we de do the things wey we de do. (Prov. 16:2) When we check ourself, we go see the reason why we choose something. But, we need to think well whether na really that reason dey for our heart, or whether na because of another reason. The truth be say, if we check wetin really dey for our heart, na the correct thing we do. When our reason dey wrong, to do wetin we don decide go hard us if we face problem. For example, one young brother fit decide say e want be regular pioneer. But, after some time, the brother fit de struggle to complete e hours as pioneer. And e fit even stop to enjoy the work. Why? Maybe e first think say the main reason why e start to pioneer na to make Jehovah happy. But, maybe the main reason for e heart na to make e papa and mama, or another person happy.

10. Wetin we need if we want change some things for our life?

10 Think about this example. One Bible student decide say e go stop to smoke. E no smoke for one or two weeks even though say e de hungry to smoke. But after some time, e still go smoke again. But at last, this Bible student stop to smoke! E fit stop to smoke because e love Jehovah and e want do wetin Jehovah like.—Col. 1:10; 3:23.

11. Why e good to know each thing for your plan?

11 Know each thing wey you need to do. If you know each thing wey you need to do, e go dey easy to finish wetin you start. For example, you fit don decide to read the Bible plenty times pass as you de do-am now. But if you no know each thing wey you need to do for your plan, you fit no succeed. * Or, the elders for congregation fit decide say they go de visit the brothers and sisters more-more to encourage them. But after some time, they never do wetin they talk. If they want succeed for their plan, they fit ask theirself question like: “We don get the names of the brothers and sisters wey we really need to visit? We don choose the time wey we want visit each of them?”

12. Wetin we need to do, and why?

12 Know wetin you fit do. Nobody among us get the time, the power, and other things wey e need, to do everything wey e for like to do. So know wetin you fit do and get-am for mind say things fit change. Sometimes, you fit need to change something wey you don already decide because the thing don pass your power. (Eccl. 3:6) But, what if you check your decision again, then you change some things, and then you feel say you go fit do wetin you decide. Wetin go fit help you to finish wetin you start? See five things wey you fit do.

THINGS TO HELP YOU DO WETIN YOU DECIDE

13. How you fit get the power wey you need so that you go fit do the thing wey you don decide?

13 Pray for power make you fit do wetin you decide. God go fit give you the power wey you need, so that you go fit do the thing wey you don decide. (Phil. 2:13) So beg Jehovah make e give you holy spirit so that you go fit get the power wey you need. Continue to pray, even if you think say God never answer your prayer. Jesus talk say: ‘Continue to ask, and you go get [holy spirit].’—Luke 11:9, 13.

14. How the thing wey Proverbs 21:5 talk go fit help you do wetin you don decide?

14 Get plan. (Read Proverbs 21:5.) If you want finish anything wey you start, you need to get plan. After that one, you need to follow the plan wey you don make. For the same way, when you don decide to do something, make you get list of the things wey you need to do so that wetin you don decide go work. If you get big-big things wey you want do, make you try divide-am to small-small part. Anytime wey you finish any of the small part, this one go help you know how far you don go. Paul encourage the brothers for Corinth make them de contribute money small-small “for the first day of every week,” instead of them to wait until e come before they begin collect-am. (1 Cor. 16:2) When you divide big work to small-small part, this one go still help you make you no feel say the work too much for you.

15. After we don make plan, wetin we fit do?

15 If you don write the list of wetin you plan say you go do, e go help you make you do wetin you don plan. (1 Cor. 14:40) For example, they don tell elders make them de choose one elder to write the things wey they don decide. This elder go still write who and who go do wetin they don decide, and the time wey they suppose to finish-am. When elders follow this advice, e de easy for them to do wetin they don decide. (1 Cor. 9:26) You fit still try to follow this kind advice when you de do other things for your life. For example, you fit write list of things wey you go do everyday, and arrange them according to the one wey you want do first. This one go help you make you fit finish wetin you start and do more things for short time.

16. Which other important thing go help you do wetin you don decide, and how Romans 12:11 support this one?

16 Work hard. You go need to work hard if you want do wetin you don decide and finish-am. (Read Romans 12:11.) Paul tell Timothy make e “continue to put all [e] heart” for the way e de teach and “continue to” make the way e de teach de better. We fit still follow this advice for anything wey we don plan to do for Jehovah.—1 Tim. 4:13, 16.

17. How Ephesians 5:15, 16 go fit help us do wetin we don decide?

17 Use your time well. (Read Ephesians 5:15, 16.) Choose time wey you go do wetin you don decide and no change the time. Make you no de wait for time wey condition go dey okay before you do wetin you want do. That time fit no come. (Eccl. 11:4) Dey careful make other things no take the time and power wey you suppose use do wetin dey important pass. (Phil. 1:10) If e dey possible, make you choose time wey you feel say other people no go fit disturb you for wetin you de do. Tell other people say you need time to put your mind for wetin you de do. You fit even off your phone, check your message or look things for Internet for another time. *

18-19. Wetin fit help you make you no stop to do wetin you don decide even if you face problem?

18 Think about the good result. The result wey you go get from wetin you don decide, be like the place wey you de go when you de travel. If you really want reach the place wey you de go, you go continue your journey even if road block and even if you need to pass another road. For the same way, if we de think about the result wey we go get from wetin we don decide, we no go tire quick-quick even when we face problem or even when we need to change some things.—Gal. 6:9.

19 To make better decision and do wetin we don decide no easy. But Jehovah go fit help you get the sense and power wey you need to finish wetin you start.
