Wetin You Think About the People for Your Territory?

Wetin You Think About the People for Your Territory?

“Make wuna raise wuna eye and look the farm, they don ready for harvest.”—JOHN 4:35.

SONG 64 De Do the Harvest Work With Joy

WETIN WE GO LEARN? *

1-2. Wetin Jesus mean for John 4:35, 36?

JESUS don de waka pass different-different farm, and maybe the seeds wey they plant for the farm just start to grow that time. (John 4:3-6) E go take around four months before the seeds go dey ready for people to harvest them. So the thing wey Jesus talk fit don surprise people. Jesus talk say: “Make wuna raise wuna eye and look the farm, they don ready for harvest.” (Read John 4:35, 36.) Wetin Jesus mean?

2 E be like say na people Jesus de talk about for here, no be seeds wey they go harvest. Think about wetin just happen. Even as Jew people no de like to do things with Samaria people, Jesus just preach to one woman from Samaria. And the woman listen! The truth na say, as Jesus de talk about the farm them wey “don ready for harvest,” plenty people de come meet Jesus. This people don hear about Jesus from the Samaritan woman. They want learn more things from Jesus. (John 4:9, 39-42) One book about Bible matter talk about this story say: “Since the people no waste time go meet Jesus . . . this one show say they be like seeds wey don dey ready for people to harvest.”

Like farm wey don dey ready for person to harvest-am, wetin we suppose to do if we feel say our territory don be like that farm? (Check paragraph 3)

3. If you de see people the way Jesus see them, how this one go make your preaching de better?

3 Wetin you think about the people wey you de preach the good news to? You de see them as seeds wey don dey ready for harvest? If na so, then this three things na true: Number one, you no go de delay for your preaching work. Time for harvest get when e de end. So time no dey to waste. Number two, you go dey happy as you de see people de listen to the good news. Bible talk say: “People de happy for time of harvest.” (Isa. 9:3) Number three, you go de see say each person fit become disciple of Jesus. So you go use wetin the person like preach to the person for the way wey e go listen.

4. Wetin we go learn from apostle Paul for this topic?

4 E fit be say some disciples de feel say Samaria people no go fit listen to the good news, but Jesus no think like that. Instead, Jesus see say they fit become e disciples. Today too, we need to see people for our territory say they fit become disciples of Jesus. Apostle Paul show us better example for this one. Wetin we fit learn from Paul? For this article, we go talk about how Paul (1) learn something about the things wey the people wey e de preach to believe, (2) understand wetin they like, and (3) see say they fit become disciple of Jesus.

WETIN THEY BELIEVE?

5. Why Paul understand the people wey e de talk to for inside synagogue?

5 Plenty times, Paul preach to Jew people for their synagogue. For example, for the synagogue for Thessalonica Paul “use Bible reason with them” for “three Sabbath.” (Acts 17:1, 2) Maybe Paul no de worry when e dey for synagogue. Na Jew person e be. (Acts 26:4, 5) Paul no de fear when e de preach to Jew people because e understand them.—Phil. 3:4, 5.

6. How the people wey Paul see for market for Athens dey different from the people wey e preach to for synagogue?

6 After enemies of the good news pursue Paul from Thessalonica, and even from Beroea, then e go Athens. And again, “for inside synagogue, e start de reason with the Jews and other people wey de worship God.” (Acts 17:17) But when Paul de preach for market, the kind people wey e see dey different. Among this people na people wey de teach the sense for this world and people of the nations. This people talk say Paul de teach “new thing.” They talk say: “You de tell us some kind things wey we never hear before.”—Acts 17:18-20.

7. As e dey for Acts 17:22, 23, how Paul change the way e de preach?

7 Read Acts 17:22, 23. The way Paul preach to people of the nations wey e see for Athens, no be the same way e preach to the Jew people wey e see for synagogue. Paul fit don ask e self say, ‘Wetin this people for Athens believe?’ Paul sofri-sofri de notice things around, and e put for e mind the way people de worship. After that one, Paul go start to preach to them with the things wey they believe wey Bible no condemn. One book about Bible matter talk say, “As Christian wey be Jew, [Paul] know say the people of the nations wey be Greek no de worship the God wey Jew people and Christians talk say na the true God. But e de try to show say the God wey e de talk about no really dey new to the people for Athens.” So Paul dey ready to change the way e de preach. E tell the people for Athens say the message wey e bring na from the God wey they no know wey them de try to worship. Even though say the people of the nations no know things for inside Bible, Paul no tire for them. Instead, e see them as seeds wey don dey ready for people to harvest and e change the way e begin talk to them about the good news.

Like farm wey don dey ready for person to harvest-am, wetin we suppose to do if we feel say our territory don be like that farm? (Check paragraph 8, 12, 18) *

8. (a) Wetin fit help you know the thing wey the people for your territory believe? (b) If person tell you say e get e own religion, wetin you fit talk?

8 Like Paul, de notice things around you. Somethings fit help you understand wetin people for your territory believe; try look for this things. How the person wey you want preach to design e house or e motor? The name of the person, the dress wey e wear, the hairstyle or even the kind word wey e de talk, tell you anything about e religion? The person fit don tell you say e get e own religion. If person tell one special pioneer wey e name na Flutura that kind thing, the sister go talk say, “I no come force you to believe wetin I believe, but I come talk to you about this topic . . . ”

9. If person get e religion, wetin be some things wey two of wuna fit believe?

9 If person get e own religion, which topic you fit discuss? Try to look for something wey the person go agree with. The person fit de worship only one God, e fit know say na Jesus die for us, or e fit believe say wickedness go soon end. Use the things wey the person believe to talk about the message for Bible. If you do like that, the person go fit want listen to you.

10. Wetin we go try to do, and why?

10 Remember say, people fit no believe everything wey their religion de teach. So even after you don know the religion wey the person dey, make you try to know wetin the person really believe. One special pioneer for Australia talk say, many people de mix the sense wey this world de teach with the things wey their religion de teach. One sister for Albania wey e name na Donalta talk say, “Some people wey we de meet de talk say them dey religion, but after them de talk say they no really believe say God dey.” And one missionary brother for Argentina talk say some people say they believe Trinity, but this people fit no really believe say the Father, the Son, and the holy spirit na one God. The brother talk say, “When I remember say person fit no believe everything wey e religion de teach, this one de make-am dey more easy to find wetin two of us believe.” So make you try to know wetin people really believe. Then like Paul, you fit “be everything to all kind of people.”—1 Cor. 9:19-23.

WETIN THEY LIKE?

11. As e dey for Acts 14:14-17, how Paul begin preach to people for Lystra for way wey they go like?

11 Read Acts 14:14-17. Paul understand wetin people wey e meet like, and then e use-am preach to them. For example, people wey e talk to for Lystra know only small thing about the Bible, or they no even know anything at all. So Paul talk to them for the way wey they fit understand. E talk about time wey people harvest plenty food and how they fit enjoy life. E use word and example wey the people wey e de preach to fit really understand.

12. How you fit really know wetin person like and use-am preach to the person?

12 Make you really understand the things wey people for your territory go like and use-am preach to them. How you fit know wetin person go like to talk about as you de near the person or e house? Again, make you try to notice things around. Maybe the person de work for e farm, e de read book, e de repair motor, or e de do another thing. You fit use the thing wey the person de do start wetin you want talk. (John 4:7) The cloth wey the person wear fit tell you something about the country wey the person come from, the work wey e de do, or the sport team wey e like pass. One brother wey e name na Gustavo talk say, “I start to talk with one boy wey be 19 years. The T-shirt wey e wear get the picture of one popular singer. I ask the boy about the shirt and e tell me why e like the singer. Because of that discussion, e accept Bible study and now, na one of our brothers.”

13. How you fit show person how we de study Bible for way wey e go like?

13 When you want study Bible with person, study the person for way wey e go like-am. Help the person see how e go fit gain from the study. (John 4:13-15) For example, one sister wey e name na Poppy, meet one woman for preaching. The woman want listen to the message, so e invite the sister enter house. When the sister enter the house, e see certificate for the wall. This certificate show say the woman na professor and e study education for school. So the sister come really make-am clear to the woman say, we as Jehovah Witness, still de use our Bible study program and our meeting de teach people. The woman accept Bible study, e go meeting the next day and after small time, the woman attend circuit assembly. After one year, the woman baptize. Ask yourself say: ‘Which kind things my return visit de like? I fit describe our Bible study program for the way wey they go like-am?’

14. How the way you de study Bible with people fit match each student?

14 After you don start Bible study with person, make you prepare well each time you de go study with the person. Make you think about the family of the student, things wey e don know, things wey e don face for life, and the things wey e go like. As you de prepare, choose the Bible verse wey you go read, the video wey you go show, and the examples wey you go use explain the truth for Bible. Ask yourself say, ‘Wetin this student go really like and wetin go really touch e heart?’ (Prov. 16:23) For Albania, one sister wey e name na Flora na pioneer, and e de study Bible with one woman. The woman talk say, “I no go fit believe the thing wey Bible de talk say dead people go come back to life.” But Sister Flora no force the woman accept the thing wey Bible teach. The sister talk say, “I see say before this woman go fit believe the resurrection, e go need to know the God wey promise resurrection.” From that time, Flora begin explain well the love, sense, and power wey Jehovah get anytime wey e de study with the woman. After, the woman by e self come believe say dead people go come back to life again. Now, the woman na strong servant of Jehovah.

GET-AM FOR MIND SAY THEY FIT BECOME DISCIPLES

15. As Acts 17:16-18 talk, which things people for Athens do wey worry Paul, but why Paul no tire for them?

15 Read Acts 17:16-18. Paul no tire for the people of Athens even as the people de worship idol, de do things about sex wey God hate, and de believe the sense for the world. And e no stop to preach to them, even though say e de receive insult from them. Before-before, Paul de ‘talk bad about God, de suffer servants of God, and e no get respect for anybody,’ but e still become Christian. (1 Tim. 1:13) Just as Jesus believe say Paul fit become disciple, na so Paul still believe say the people for Athens fit become disciple. And the thing wey Paul believe really happen.—Acts 9:13-15; 17:34.

16-17. Wetin show say different kind of people fit be disciple of Christ? Talk one example.

16 For time of the apostles, people from different-different place become disciples of Jesus. When Paul write letter to Christians for the city of Corinth, for Greece, e talk say before-before, some people for that congregation de do plenty bad things and de live dirty life. But e still talk say: “Na so some of wuna be before. But [God] don wash wuna clean.” (1 Cor. 6:9-11) If na you, you for see say this people fit change and become disciple?

17 Today, plenty people dey ready to change their life so that they go fit be disciple of Jesus. For example, one special pioneer for Australia wey e name na Yukina see say different kind of people fit listen to the message for Bible. One day for one business place, the sister see one young woman. The woman draw things for e body and the way wey e dress fit make person no want near-am. Our sister talk say, “I delay small, but I still go talk to the woman. I see say the woman get interest for Bible sotey some of the things wey e draw for body na some verse them for the book of Psalms!” The woman begin study Bible and de attend meeting. *

18. Why e no good make we judge people?

18 You think say Jesus put-am for mind say the seeds for the farm don dey ready for harvest because e expect say plenty people go become e disciple? No be so. Bible don talk before say no be plenty people go get faith for Jesus. (John 12:37, 38) And Jesus de fit know wetin person de think for e mind. (Matt. 9:4) Even with that one, e still put e mind for the small number of people wey go accept e message. And e preach to everybody with all e heart. We no go fit know wetin people de think for their mind like Jesus. So, we no suppose to judge our territory or any person for there! Instead, put-am for mind say they fit become disciple. One missionary for Burkina Faso wey e name na Marc talk say: “Many times, the people wey I think say go do well for their study de stop their study. But the people wey I think say they no go continue their study, na them de really do well. So I don learn say the best thing na to allow make Jehovah use e spirit direct us.”

19. How we suppose to see people for our territory?

19 When you first look the situation, e fit be like say plenty people for the territory no be like seeds wey don dey ready for people to harvest. But no forget wetin Jesus tell e disciples. The farm don dey ready for people to harvest the seeds. People fit change and be disciple of Jesus. Jehovah believe say this people for our territory fit become disciples and e de see them as “fine-fine things.” (Hag. 2:7) If we de see people the way Jehovah and Jesus de see them, we go learn about their culture, things wey they don face for life, and wetin they like. We no go see them as strangers, instead we go see say they fit become our brothers and sisters.

SONG 57 De Preach for All Kind of People

^ par. 5 How the way we see people for our territory de affect the way we preach and teach? This topic talk about how Jesus and apostle Paul see the people wey they preach to, and how we fit copy their example when we de think about the things wey people believe, things wey they like, and when we de see say the people wey we meet for our preaching work fit become disciple of Jesus.

^ par. 17 The different-different story under the topic “Bible De Help People Change Their Life” get more examples of how people fit change. Before, we de write this story them for inside Watchtower until we stop for 2017. But now, na for our jw.org® website we de write the story them put. Check under ABOUT US > EXPERIENCES.

^ par. 57 OTHER THINGS ABOUT THE PICTURE: As one husband and wife de go from house to house for their preaching work, they see (1) one fine house wey they arrange well with flowers; (2) one house wey the family get young children; (3) house wey the inside and outside scatter and e dirty; and (4) house wey the people get religion. Which of them get person wey you feel say go fit become disciple?
