The Treasure City Showcases “God’s Gift to People”

Cluj-Napoca, one of the largest cities in Romania, is known as The Treasure City. During the Gaudeamus bookfair, held in the city from April 20 to 24, 2016, Jehovah’s Witnesses highlighted the moral and spiritual values found in the Bible. They set up a booth at the fair and spoke to thousands of attendees who were curious about the videos, Bible-based publications, and Bibles on display.

Several schools made field trips to the fair, and teachers brought their students to visit the Witnesses’ booth. The students especially enjoyed watching animated videos from the series Become Jehovah’s Friend, and many of them wanted copies of My Book of Bible Stories and the brochure Teach Your Children. A childcare worker who saw the animated videos said to her colleague, “We need to write down this website address [www.pr418.com] so that we can show the children all the cartoons.”

Teenage students were impressed by the whiteboard animations that were displayed on tablets. The featured videos included Is It Love or Infatuation?, Be Social-Network Smart, and Beat a Bully Without Using Your Fists.

An Orthodox priest and his wife visited the booth several times, obtaining the New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures and some brochures. The priest said that he was impressed by the “Bible Words Index” feature of the translation and by the many trustworthy sources that were used by the translators. He gave the Witnesses his phone number and asked them to contact him so that they could discuss the Bible with him further.

The priest’s wife asked where on the jw.org website she might find information for children and was directed to the “Children” section of the site. She then watched the video Be Truthful, which she enjoyed very much. After exploring this and other features of the website, her husband called it “God’s gift to people.”
