Psalms 112:1-10

  • A righteous man fears Jehovah

    • A generous lender will prosper (5)

    • “The righteous will be remembered forever” (6)

    • The generous gives to the poor (9)

112  Praise Jah!*+ א [Aleph] Happy is the man who fears Jehovah,+ב [Beth]Who takes great pleasure in his commandments.+ ג [Gimel]   His descendants will be mighty in the earth,ד [Daleth]And the generation of the upright will be blessed.+ ה [He]   Wealth and riches are in his house,ו [Waw]And his righteousness continues forever. ז [Zayin]   To the upright he shines like a light in the darkness.+ ח [Heth] He is compassionate* and merciful+ and righteous. ט [Teth]   It goes well for the man who generously* lends.+ י [Yod] He conducts his affairs with justice. כ [Kaph]   He will never be shaken.+ ל [Lamed] The righteous will be remembered forever.+ מ [Mem]   He will not fear bad news.+ נ [Nun] His heart is steadfast, trusting in Jehovah.+ ס [Samekh]   His heart is unshakable;* he is not afraid;+ע [Ayin]In the end he will look in triumph on his adversaries.+ פ [Pe]   He has distributed widely;* he has given to the poor.+ צ [Tsade] His righteousness continues forever.+ ק [Qoph] His own strength* will be exalted with glory. ר [Resh] 10  The wicked one will see and be upset. ש [Shin] He will grind his teeth and melt away. ת [Taw] The desires of the wicked will perish.+
