Mark 16:1-20

16  And when the sabbath was over, Mary the Magdalene and James’s Mary and Salome bought spices to come and anoint him; 2  and extremely early on the first day of the week they came to the tomb when the sun was up. 3 * And they were saying to each other “Who will roll away the stone for us from the door of the tomb?” 4  and they looked up and saw that the stone was rolled back. For it was very large. 5  And they entered the tomb and saw a young man sitting on the right, clad in a white robe; and they were dismayed. 6  But he said to them “Do not be dismayed; you are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, the one who was crucified; he has risen, he is not here; there is the place where they laid him. 7  But go tell his disciples and Peter ‘He is going ahead of you to Galilee; there you shall see him, as he told you.’” 8  And they went out and ran away from the tomb; for trepidation and surprise possessed them. And they said nothing to anybody, for they were afraid. A WRITING SAID TO BE BY ELDER ARISTON; THE VERSES ARE NUMBERED AS PART OF THE SIXTEENTH CHAPTER OF MARK 9  And, having risen on the first day of the week early in the morning, he appeared first to Mary the Magdalene, from whom he had expelled seven demons. 10  She, going to those who had been with him, reported it to them as they were mourning and weeping; 11  and they, hearing that he was alive and had been seen by her, disbelieved. 12  And after this he made his appearance in another form to two of them as they were walking, going into the country; 13  and they went and reported it to the rest, and they did not believe these either. 14 * And later he made his appearance to the Eleven themselves as they were at the table, and reproached their incredulity and obduracy, that they had not believed those who had seen him risen. 15  And he said to them “Go into the entire world and proclaim the gospel to all the creation. 16  He who believes and is baptized shall be saved, but he who disbelieves shall be condemned. 17  And those who believe shall have these tokens accompanying them: by my name they shall expel demons; they shall speak new languages; 18  they shall take up snakes, and if they drink anything deadly it shall not harm them; they shall lay their hands on invalids and these shall get well.” 19  So the Lord Jesus, after speaking to them, was taken up to heaven and seated at God’s right hand; 20  and they went out and made their proclamation everywhere, the Lord cooperating and confirming the word through the attendant tokens.
