1 Corinthians 2:1-16

2  Κἀγὼ And Iἐλθὼν having comeπρὸς towardὑμᾶς, YOU,ἀδελφοί, brothers,ἦλθον I cameοὐ notκαθ’ according toὑπεροχὴν superiorityλόγου of wordorσοφίας of wisdomκαταγγέλλων announcing downὑμῖν to YOUτὸ theμυστήριον mysteryτοῦ of theθεοῦ, God, 2  οὐ notγὰρ forἔκρινά I judgedτι anythingεἰδέναι to have knownἐν inὑμῖν YOUεἰ ifμὴ notἸησοῦν JesusΧριστὸν Christκαὶ andτοῦτον this (one)ἐσταυρωμένον· having been put on stake; 3  κἀγὼ and Iἐν inἀσθενείᾳ weaknessκαὶ andἐν inφόβῳ fearκαὶ andἐν inτρόμῳ tremblingπολλῷ muchἐγενόμην I came to beπρὸς towardὑμᾶς, YOU, 4  καὶ andtheλόγος wordμου of meκαὶ andτὸ theκήρυγμά preachingμου of meοὐκ notἐν inπιθοῖς persuasiveσοφίας of wisdomλόγοις wordsἀλλ’ butἐν inἀποδείξει showing offπνεύματος of spiritκαὶ andδυνάμεως, of power, 5  ἵνα in order thattheπίστις faithὑμῶν of YOUμὴ notmay beἐν inσοφίᾳ wisdomἀνθρώπων of menἀλλ’ butἐν inδυνάμει powerθεοῦ. of God. 6  Σοφίαν Wisdomδὲ butλαλοῦμεν we are speakingἐν inτοῖς theτελείοις, perfect (ones),σοφίαν wisdomδὲ butοὐ notτοῦ of theαἰῶνος ageτούτου thisοὐδὲ norτῶν of theἀρχόντων rulersτοῦ of theαἰῶνος ageτούτου thisτῶν of the (ones)καταργουμένων· making themselves ineffective; 7  ἀλλὰ butλαλοῦμεν we are speakingθεοῦ of Godσοφίαν wisdomἐν inμυστηρίῳ, mystery,τὴν the [wisdom]ἀποκεκρυμμένην, having been hidden,ἣν whichπροώρισεν defined beforehandtheθεὸς Godπρὸ beforeτῶν theαἰώνων agesεἰς intoδόξαν gloryἡμῶν· of us; 8  ἣν whichοὐδεὶς no oneτῶν of theἀρχόντων rulersτοῦ of theαἰῶνος ageτούτου thisἔγνωκεν, has known,εἰ ifγὰρ forἔγνωσαν, they knew,οὐκ notἂν likelyτὸν theκύριον Lordτῆς of theδόξης gloryἐσταύρωσαν· they put on stake; 9  ἀλλὰ butκαθὼς according asγέγραπται it has been writtenWhich (things)ὀφθαλμὸς eyeοὐκ notεἶδεν sawκαὶ andοὖς earοὐκ notἤκουσεν heardκαὶ andἐπὶ uponκαρδίαν heartἀνθρώπου of manοὐκ notἀνέβη, ascended,ὅσα as many (things) asἡτοίμασεν preparedtheθεὸς Godτοῖς to the (ones)ἀγαπῶσιν lovingαὐτόν. him. 10  ἡμῖν To usγὰρ forἀπεκάλυψεν revealedtheθεὸς Godδιὰ throughτοῦ theπνεύματος, spirit,τὸ theγὰρ forπνεῦμα spiritπάντα all (things)ἐραυνᾷ, is searching,καὶ andτὰ theβάθη depthsτοῦ of theθεοῦ. God. 11  τίς Whoγὰρ forοἶδεν has knownἀνθρώπων of menτὰ the (things)τοῦ of theἀνθρώπου manεἰ ifμὴ notτὸ theπνεῦμα spiritτοῦ of theἀνθρώπου manτὸ theἐν inαὐτῷ; him?οὕτως Thusκαὶ alsoτὰ the (things)τοῦ of theθεοῦ Godοὐδεὶς no oneἔγνωκεν has knownεἰ ifμὴ notτὸ theπνεῦμα spiritτοῦ of theθεοῦ. God. 12  ἡμεῖς Weδὲ butοὐ notτὸ theπνεῦμα spiritτοῦ of theκόσμου worldἐλάβομεν receivedἀλλὰ butτὸ theπνεῦμα spiritτὸ theἐκ out ofτοῦ theθεοῦ, God,ἵνα in order thatεἰδῶμεν we might knowτὰ the (things)ὑπὸ byτοῦ theθεοῦ Godχαρισθέντα having been graciously givenἡμῖν· to us; 13  which (things)καὶ alsoλαλοῦμεν we are speakingοὐκ notἐν inδιδακτοῖς (ones) taughtἀνθρωπίνης of humanσοφίας wisdomλόγοις, words,ἀλλ’ butἐν inδιδακτοῖς (ones) taughtπνεύματος, of spirit,πνευματικοῖς to spiritual (things)πνευματικὰ spiritual (things)συνκρίνοντες. judging with. 14  ψυχικὸς Soulicalδὲ butἄνθρωπος manοὐ notδέχεται is receivingτὰ the (things)τοῦ of theπνεύματος spiritτοῦ of theθεοῦ, God,μωρία foolishnessγὰρ forαὐτῷ to himἐστίν, it is,καὶ andοὐ notδύναται he is ableγνῶναι, to know,ὅτι becauseπνευματικῶς spirituallyἀνακρίνεται· it is being judged up; 15  theδὲ butπνευματικὸς spiritual (one)ἀνακρίνει is judging upμὲν indeedπάντα, all (things),αὐτὸς heδὲ butὑπ’ byοὐδενὸς no oneἀνακρίνεται. is being judged up. 16  τίς Whoγὰρ forἔγνω knewνοῦν mindΚυρίου, of Lord,ὃς whoσυνβιβάσει will make go togetherαὐτόν; him?ἡμεῖς Weδὲ butνοῦν mindΧριστοῦ of Christἔχομεν. are having.
