1 John 1:1-10

1  Whichἦν wasἀπ’ fromἀρχῆς, beginning,whichἀκηκόαμεν, we have heard,whichἑωράκαμεν we have seenτοῖς to theὀφθαλμοῖς eyesἡμῶν, of us,whichἐθεασάμεθα we viewedκαὶ andαἱ theχεῖρες handsἡμῶν of usἐψηλάφησαν, felt,περὶ aboutτοῦ theλόγου wordτῆς of theζωῆς,— life,— 2  καὶ andtheζωὴ lifeἐφανερώθη, was manifested,καὶ andἑωράκαμεν we have seenκαὶ andμαρτυροῦμεν we are bearing witnessκαὶ andἀπαγγέλλομεν we are reporting backὑμῖν to YOUτὴν theζωὴν lifeτὴν theαἰώνιον everlastingἥτις whichἦν wasπρὸς towardτὸν theπατέρα Fatherκαὶ andἐφανερώθη it was manifestedἡμῖν,— to us,— 3  whichἑωράκαμεν we have seenκαὶ andἀκηκόαμεν we have heardἀπαγγέλλομεν we are reporting backκαὶ alsoὑμῖν, to YOU,ἵνα in order thatκαὶ alsoὑμεῖς YOUκοινωνίαν sharingἔχητε YOU may be havingμεθ’ withἡμῶν· us;καὶ andtheκοινωνία sharingδὲ buttheἡμετέρα ourμετὰ withτοῦ theπατρὸς Fatherκαὶ andμετὰ withτοῦ theυἱοῦ Sonαὐτοῦ of himἸησοῦ of JesusΧριστοῦ· Christ; 4  καὶ andταῦτα these (things)γράφομεν we are writingἡμεῖς weἵνα in order thattheχαρὰ joyἡμῶν of usmay beπεπληρωμένη. having been fulfilled. 5  Καὶ Andἔστιν isαὕτη thistheἀγγελία messageἣν whichἀκηκόαμεν we have heardἀπ’ fromαὐτοῦ himκαὶ andἀναγγέλλομεν we are announcingὑμῖν, to YOU,ὅτι thattheθεὸς Godφῶς lightἐστὶν isκαὶ andσκοτία darknessοὐκ notἔστιν isἐν inαὐτῷ himοὐδεμία. none. 6  ᾿Εὰν If everεἴπωμεν we should sayὅτι thatκοινωνίαν sharingἔχομεν we are havingμετ’ withαὐτοῦ himκαὶ andἐν inτῷ theσκότει darknessπεριπατῶμεν, we may be walking about,ψευδόμεθα we are lyingκαὶ andοὐ notποιοῦμεν we are doingτὴν theἀλήθειαν· truth; 7  ἐὰν if everδὲ butἐν inτῷ theφωτὶ lightπεριπατῶμεν we may be walking aboutὡς asαὐτὸς heἔστιν isἐν inτῷ theφωτί, light,κοινωνίαν sharingἔχομεν we are havingμετ’ withἀλλήλων one anotherκαὶ andτὸ theαἷμα bloodἸησοῦ of Jesusτοῦ theυἱοῦ Sonαὐτοῦ of himκαθαρίζει it is cleansingἡμᾶς usἀπὸ fromπάσης allἁμαρτίας. sin. 8  ᾿Εὰν If everεἴπωμεν we should sayὅτι thatἁμαρτίαν sinοὐκ notἔχομεν, we are having,ἑαυτοὺς selvesπλανῶμεν we are making to errκαὶ andtheἀλήθεια truthοὐκ notἔστιν isἐν inἡμῖν. us. 9  ἐὰν If everὁμολογῶμεν we may be confessingτὰς theἁμαρτίας sinsἡμῶν, of us,πιστός faithfulἐστιν he isκαὶ andδίκαιος righteousἵνα in order thatἀφῇ he might let go offἡμῖν to usτὰς theἁμαρτίας sinsκαὶ andκαθαρίσῃ he might cleanseἡμᾶς usἀπὸ fromπάσης allἀδικίας. unrighteousness. 10  ᾿Εὰν If everεἴπωμεν we should sayὅτι thatοὐχ notἡμαρτήκαμεν, we have sinned,ψεύστην liarποιοῦμεν we are makingαὐτὸν himκαὶ andtheλόγος wordαὐτοῦ of himοὐκ notἔστιν isἐν inἡμῖν. us.
