1 Peter 3:1-22

3  Ὁμοίως Likewiseγυναῖκες womenὑποτασσόμεναι subjecting selvesτοῖς to theἰδίοις ownἀνδράσιν, male persons,ἵνα in order thatεἴ ifτινες any (ones)ἀπειθοῦσιν are disobeyingτῷ to theλόγῳ wordδιὰ throughτῆς theτῶν of theγυναικῶν womenἀναστροφῆς conductἄνευ withoutλόγου wordκερδηθήσονται they will be gained 2  ἐποπτεύσαντες having had eyes uponτὴν theἐν inφόβῳ fearἁγνὴν chasteἀναστροφὴν conductὑμῶν. of YOU. 3  ὧν Of whomἔστω let it beοὐχ notὁ theἔξωθεν from outsideἐμπλοκῆς of inweavingτριχῶν of hairsκαὶ andπεριθέσεως of putting aroundχρυσίων of gold (things)ἢ orἐνδύσεως placing onἱματίων of outer garmentsκόσμος, adorning, 4  ἀλλ’ butὁ theκρυπτὸς hiddenτῆς of theκαρδίας heartἄνθρωπος manἐν inτῷ theἀφθάρτῳ incorruptibleτοῦ of theἡσυχίου quietκαὶ andπραέως mildπνεύματος, spirit,ὅ whichἐστιν isἐνώπιον in sightτοῦ of theθεοῦ Godπολυτελές. of much cost. 5  οὕτως Thusγάρ forποτε sometimeκαὶ alsoαἱ theἅγιαι holyγυναῖκες womenαἱ the (ones)ἐλπίζουσαι hopingεἰς intoθεὸν Godἐκόσμουν were adorningἑαυτάς, themselves,ὑποτασσόμεναι subjecting selvesτοῖς to theἰδίοις ownἀνδράσιν, male persons, 6  ὡς asΣάρρα Sarahὑπήκουεν was obeyingτῷ to the᾿Αβραάμ, Abraham,κύριον lordαὐτὸν himκαλοῦσα· calling;ἧς of which [woman]ἐγενήθητε YOU becameτέκνα childrenἀγαθοποιοῦσαι doing goodκαὶ andμὴ notφοβούμεναι fearingμηδεμίαν not oneπτόησιν. terror. 7  Οἱ Theἄνδρες male personsὁμοίως likewiseσυνοικοῦντες dwelling togetherκατὰ according toγνῶσιν, knowledge,ὡς asἀσθενεστέρῳ to weakerσκεύει vesselτῷ to the (one)γυναικείῳ pertaining to womanἀπονέμοντες portioning offτιμήν, honor,ὡς asκαὶ alsoσυνκληρονόμοι joint heirsχάριτος of undeserved favorζωῆς, of life,εἰς intoτὸ theμὴ notἐγκόπτεσθαι to be being cut inτὰς theπροσευχὰς prayersὑμῶν. of YOU. 8  Τὸ Theδὲ butτέλος endπάντες all (ones)ὁμόφρονες, like-minded,συμπαθεῖς, sympathetic,φιλάδελφοι, having affection for brothers,εὔσπλαγχνοι, disposed well to pity,ταπεινόφρονες, lowly-minded, 9  μὴ notἀποδιδόντες giving backκακὸν badἀντὶ instead ofκακοῦ badἢ orλοιδορίαν revilingἀντὶ instead ofλοιδορίας revilingτοὐναντίον the (thing) in againstδὲ butεὐλογοῦντες, (ones) bestowing blessing,ὅτι becauseεἰς intoτοῦτο thisἐκλήθητε YOU were calledἵνα in order thatεὐλογίαν blessingκληρονομήσητε. YOU might inherit. 10  ὁ The (one)γὰρ forθέλων willingζωὴν lifeἀγαπᾷν to be lovingκαὶ andἰδεῖν to seeἡμέρας daysἀγαθάς goodπαυσάτω let him make ceaseτὴν theγλῶσσαν tongueἀπὸ fromκακοῦ badκαὶ andχείλη lipsτοῦ of theμὴ notλαλῆσαι to speakδόλον, deceit, 11  ἐκκλινάτω let him incline out ofδὲ butἀπὸ fromκακοῦ badκαὶ andποιησάτω let him doἀγαθόν, good,ζητησάτω let him seekεἰρήνην peaceκαὶ andδιωξάτω let him pursueαὐτήν. it. 12  ὅτι Becauseὀφθαλμοὶ eyesΚυρίου of Lordἐπὶ uponδικαίους righteous (ones)καὶ andὦτα earsαὐτοῦ of himεἰς intoδέησιν supplicationαὐτῶν, of them,πρόσωπον faceδὲ butΚυρίου of Lordἐπὶ uponποιοῦντας (ones) doingκακά. bad (things). 13  Καὶ Andτίς whoὁ the (one)κακώσων going to treat badlyὑμᾶς YOUἐὰν if everτοῦ of theἀγαθοῦ good (thing)ζηλωταὶ zealousγένησθε; YOU should become? 14  ἀλλ’ Butεἰ ifκαὶ andπάσχοιτε YOU may sufferδιὰ throughδικαιοσύνην, righteousness,μακάριοι. happy (ones).τὸν Theδὲ butφόβον fearαὐτῶν of themμὴ notφοβηθῆτε fear YOUμηδὲ not-butταραχθῆτε, be YOU agitated, 15  κύριον Lordδὲ butτὸν theΧριστὸν Christἁγιάσατε sanctify YOUἐν inταῖς theκαρδίαις heartsὑμῶν, of YOU,ἕτοιμοι readyἀεὶ everπρὸς towardἀπολογίαν defenseπαντὶ to everyoneτῷ to the (one)αἰτοῦντι askingὑμᾶς YOUλόγον wordπερὶ aboutτῆς theἐν inὑμῖν YOUἐλπίδος, hope,ἀλλὰ butμετὰ withπραΰτητος mildnessκαὶ andφόβου, fear, 16  συνείδησιν conscienceἔχοντες havingἀγαθήν, good,ἵνα in order thatἐν inᾧ which (thing)καταλαλεῖσθε YOU are being spoken down onκαταισχυνθῶσιν might be shamed downοἱ the (ones)ἐπηρεάζοντες speaking slightingly ofὑμῶν of YOUτὴν theἀγαθὴν goodἐν inΧριστῷ Christἀναστροφήν. conduct. 17  κρεῖττον Betterγὰρ forἀγαθοποιοῦντας, (ones) doing good,εἰ ifθέλοι may willτὸ theθέλημα willτοῦ of theθεοῦ, God,πάσχειν to be sufferingἢ thanκακοποιοῦντας. (ones) doing bad. 18  ὅτι Becauseκαὶ evenΧριστὸς Christἅπαξ once for allπερὶ aboutἁμαρτιῶν sinsἀπέθανεν, died,δίκαιος righteous (one)ὑπὲρ overἀδίκων, unrighteous (ones),ἵνα in order thatὑμᾶς YOUπροσαγάγῃ he might lead towardτῷ to theθεῷ, God,θανατωθεὶς [he] having been put to deathμὲν indeedσαρκὶ to fleshζωοποιηθεὶς having been made aliveδὲ butπνεύματι· to spirit; 19  ἐν inᾧ whichκαὶ alsoτοῖς to theἐν inφυλακῇ prisonπνεύμασιν spiritsπορευθεὶς having goneἐκήρυξεν, he preached, 20  ἀπειθήσασίν to (ones) having disobeyedποτε sometimeὅτε whenἀπεξεδέχετο was receiving out fromἡ theτοῦ of theθεοῦ Godμακροθυμία longness of spiritἐν inἡμέραις daysΝῶε of Noahκατασκευαζομένης of (one) being constructedκιβωτοῦ of arkεἰς inἣν whichὀλίγοι, few,τοῦτ’ thisἔστιν isὀκτὼ eightψυχαί, souls,διεσώθησαν were saved throughδι’ throughὕδατος. water. 21  ὃ Whichκαὶ alsoὑμᾶς YOUἀντίτυπον antitypeνῦν nowσώζει is savingβάπτισμα, baptism,οὐ notσαρκὸς of fleshἀπόθεσις putting awayῥύπου of filthἀλλὰ butσυνειδήσεως of conscienceἀγαθῆς goodἐπερώτημα questioning uponεἰς intoθεόν, God,δι’ throughἀναστάσεως resurrectionἸησοῦ of JesusΧριστοῦ, Christ, 22  ὅς whoἐστιν isἐν inδεξιᾷ right [hand]θεοῦ of Godπορευθεὶς having goneεἰς intoοὐρανὸν heavenὑποταγέντων (ones) having been subjectedαὐτῷ to himἀγγέλων of angelsκαὶ andἐξουσιῶν of authoritiesκαὶ andδυνάμεων. of powers.
