1 Timothy 2:1-15

2  Παρακαλῶ I am encouragingοὖν thereforeπρῶτον first (thing)πάντων of all (things)ποιεῖσθαι to be being madeδεήσεις, supplications,προσευχάς, prayers,ἐντεύξεις, intercessions,εὐχαριστίας, thanksgivings,ὑπὲρ overπάντων allἀνθρώπων, men, 2  ὑπὲρ overβασιλέων kingsκαὶ andπάντων allτῶν the (ones)ἐν inὑπεροχῇ superiorityὄντων, (ones) being,ἵνα in order thatἤρεμον stillκαὶ andἡσύχιον quietβίον livingδιάγωμεν we may be leading throughἐν inπάσῃ allεὐσεβείᾳ revering wellκαὶ andσεμνότητι. seriousness. 3  τοῦτο Thisκαλὸν fineκαὶ andἀπόδεκτον receivable backἐνώπιον in sightτοῦ of theσωτῆρος Saviorἡμῶν of usθεοῦ, of God 4  ὃς whoπάντας allἀνθρώπους menθέλει is willingσωθῆναι to be savedκαὶ andεἰς intoἐπίγνωσιν accurate knowledgeἀληθείας of truthἐλθεῖν. to come. 5  Εἷς Oneγὰρ forθεός, God,εἷς oneκαὶ alsoμεσίτης mediatorθεοῦ of Godκαὶ andἀνθρώπων of menἄνθρωπος manΧριστὸς ChristἸησοῦς, Jesus, 6  ὁ the (one)δοὺς having givenἑαυτὸν himselfἀντίλυτρον corresponding ransomὑπὲρ overπάντων, all (ones),τὸ theμαρτύριον witnessκαιροῖς to appointed timesἰδίοις· own; 7  εἰς intoὃ which (thing)ἐτέθην was putἐγὼ Iκῆρυξ preacherκαὶ andἀπόστολος,— apostle,—ἀλήθειαν truthλέγω, I am saying,οὐ notψεύδομαι,— I am lying,—διδάσκαλος teacherἐθνῶν of nationsἐν inπίστει faithκαὶ andἀληθείᾳ. truth. 8  Βούλομαι I am wishingοὖν thereforeπροσεύχεσθαι to prayτοὺς theἄνδρας male personsἐν inπαντὶ everyτόπῳ, place,ἐπαίροντας lifting up uponὁσίους loyalχεῖρας handsχωρὶς apart fromὀργῆς wrathκαὶ andδιαλογισμῶν. divided reckonings. 9  Ὡσαύτως As-thusγυναῖκας womenἐν inκαταστολῇ dressκοσμίῳ adorningμετὰ withαἰδοῦς modestyκαὶ andσωφροσύνης soundness of mindκοσμεῖν to be adorningἑαυτάς, themselves,μὴ notἐν inπλέγμασιν braidingκαὶ andχρυσίῳ goldἢ orμαργαρίταις pearlsἢ orἱματισμῷ garbπολυτελεῖ, of much cost, 10  ἀλλ’ butὃ whatπρέπει is befittingγυναιξὶν to womenἐπαγγελλομέναις promisingθεοσέβειαν, reverence of God,δι’ throughἔργων worksἀγαθῶν. good. 11  Γυνὴ Womanἐν inἡσυχίᾳ quietnessμανθανέτω let her be learningἐν inπάσῃ allὑποταγῇ· subjection; 12  διδάσκειν to be teachingδὲ butγυναικὶ to womanοὐκ notἐπιτρέπω, I am permitting,οὐδὲ norαὐθεντεῖν to be playing masterἀνδρός, of male person,ἀλλ’ butεἶναι to beἐν inἡσυχίᾳ. quietness. 13  ᾿Αδὰμ Adamγὰρ forπρῶτος firstἐπλάσθη, was molded,εἶτα there (upon)Εὕα· Eve; 14  καὶ and᾿Αδὰμ Adamοὐκ notἠπατήθη, was seduced,ἡ theδὲ butγυνὴ womanἐξαπατηθεῖσα having been seduced outἐν inπαραβάσει transgressionγέγονεν. she has come to be. 15  σωθήσεται She will be savedδὲ butδιὰ throughτῆς theτεκνογονίας, childbearing,ἐὰν if everμείνωσιν they might remainἐν inπίστει faithκαὶ andἀγάπῃ loveκαὶ andἁγιασμῷ sanctificationμετὰ withσωφροσύνης. soundness of mind.
