1 Timothy 5:1-25

5  Πρεσβυτέρῳ To older manμὴ notἐπιπλήξῃς, you should deal blow upon,ἀλλὰ butπαρακάλει be you entreatingὡς asπατέρα, father,νεωτέρους younger (ones)ὡς asἀδελφούς, brothers, 2  πρεσβυτέρας older [woman]ὡς asμητέρας, mothers,νεωτέρας younger [women]ὡς asἀδελφὰς sistersἐν inπάσῃ allἁγνίᾳ. chasteness. 3  Χήρας Widowsτίμα be honoringτὰς the (ones)ὄντως essentiallyχήρας. widows. 4  εἰ Ifδέ butτις anyχήρα widowτέκνα childrenἢ orἔκγονα grandchildrenἔχει, is having,μανθανέτωσαν let them be learningπρῶτον firstτὸν theἴδιον ownοἶκον householdεὐσεβεῖν to be revering wellκαὶ andἀμοιβὰς recompensesἀποδιδόναι to be giving backτοῖς to theπρογόνοις, progenitors,τοῦτο thisγάρ forἐστιν isἀπόδεκτον receivable backἐνώπιον in sightτοῦ of theθεοῦ· God; 5  ἡ theδὲ butὄντως essentiallyχήρα widowκαὶ andμεμονωμένη having been left aloneἤλπικεν has hopedἐπὶ uponτὸν theθεὸν Godκαὶ andπροσμένει she is remaining towardταῖς to theδεήσεσιν supplicationsκαὶ andταῖς to theπροσευχαῖς prayersνυκτὸς of nightκαὶ andἡμέρας· of day; 6  ἡ the (one)δὲ butσπαταλῶσα behaving voluptuouslyζῶσα livingτέθνηκεν. she has died. 7  καὶ Andταῦτα these (things)παράγγελλε, be you charging,ἵνα in order thatἀνεπίλημπτοι irreprehensibleὦσιν· they may be; 8  εἰ ifδέ butτις anyoneτῶν of theἰδίων own (ones)καὶ andμάλιστα mostlyοἰκείων of household [members]οὐ notπρονοεῖ, he is providing,τὴν theπίστιν faithἤρνηται he has deniedκαὶ andἔστιν he isἀπίστου of unbelieverχείρων. worse (one). 9  Χήρα Widowκαταλεγέσθω let be being put on listμὴ notἔλαττον lessἐτῶν of yearsἑξήκοντα sixtyγεγονυῖα, having become,ἑνὸς of oneἀνδρὸς male personγυνή, woman, 10  ἐν inἔργοις worksκαλοῖς fineμαρτυρουμένη, being witnessed about,εἰ ifἐτεκνοτρόφησεν, she reared children,εἰ ifἐξενοδόχησεν, she received strangers,εἰ ifἁγίων of holy (ones)πόδας feetἔνιψεν, she washed,εἰ ifθλιβομένοις to (ones) being put under tribulationἐπήρκεσεν, she was sufficient upon,εἰ ifπαντὶ to everyἔργῳ workἀγαθῷ goodἐπηκολούθησεν. she followed upon. 11  νεωτέρας Younger (ones)δὲ butχήρας widowsπαραιτοῦ· be asking off for self;ὅταν wheneverγὰρ forκαταστρηνιάσωσιν they might feel sexually impulsiveτοῦ of theχριστοῦ, Christ,γαμεῖν to be marryingθέλουσιν, they are willing, 12  ἔχουσαι havingκρίμα judgmentὅτι becauseτὴν theπρώτην firstπίστιν faithἠθέτησαν· they put aside; 13  ἅμα at the same timeδὲ butκαὶ alsoἀργαὶ ineffectiveμανθάνουσιν, they are learning,περιερχόμεναι going aboutτὰς theοἰκίας, houses,οὐ notμόνον onlyδὲ butἀργαὶ ineffectiveἀλλὰ butκαὶ alsoφλύαροι gossipersκαὶ andπερίεργοι, workers around,λαλοῦσαι speakingτὰ the (things)μὴ notδέοντα. binding. 14  βούλομαι I am wishingοὖν thereforeνεωτέρας younger [women]γαμεῖν, to be marrying,τεκνογονεῖν, to be bearing children,οἰκοδεσποτεῖν, to be managing household,μηδεμίαν not oneἀφορμὴν onrush offδιδόναι to be givingτῷ to theἀντικειμένῳ (one) lying againstλοιδορίας of revilingχάριν· thanks; 15  ἤδη alreadyγάρ forτινες someἐξετράπησαν were turned outὀπίσω behindτοῦ theΣατανᾶ.
