1 Timothy 6:1-21

6  Ὅσοι As many asεἰσὶν areὑπὸ underζυγὸν yokeδοῦλοι, slaves,τοὺς theἰδίους ownδεσπότας mastersπάσης of allτιμῆς honorἀξίους worthyἡγείσθωσαν, let them be considering,ἵνα in order thatμὴ notτὸ theὄνομα nameτοῦ of theθεοῦ Godκαὶ andtheδιδασκαλία teachingβλασφημῆται. may be blasphemed. 2  οἱ The (ones)δὲ butπιστοὺς faithfulἔχοντες havingδεσπότας mastersμὴ notκαταφρονείτωσαν, let them be thinking down,ὅτι becauseἀδελφοί brothersεἰσιν· they are;ἀλλὰ butμᾶλλον ratherδουλευέτωσαν, let them be slaving,ὅτι becauseπιστοί faithfulεἰσιν they areκαὶ andἀγαπητοὶ lovedοἱ the (ones)τῆς of theεὐεργεσίας working wellἀντιλαμβανόμενοι. receiving in return. Ταῦτα These (things)δίδασκε be you teachingκαὶ andπαρακάλει. be you encouraging. 3  εἴ Ifτις anyoneἑτεροδιδασκαλεῖ is teaching differentlyκαὶ andμὴ notπροσέρχεται he is coming towardὑγιαίνουσι to (ones) being healthfulλόγοις, words,τοῖς to the (ones)τοῦ of theκυρίου Lordἡμῶν of usἸησοῦ JesusΧριστοῦ, Christ,καὶ andτῇ to theκατ’ according toεὐσέβειαν revering wellδιδασκαλίᾳ, to teaching, 4  τετύφωται, he has been made to smoke,μηδὲν nothingἐπιστάμενος, knowing well,ἀλλὰ butνοσῶν being diseasedπερὶ aboutζητήσεις seekingsκαὶ andλογομαχίας, word fights,ἐξ out ofὧν which (things)γίνεται comes to beφθόνος, envy,ἔρις, strife,βλασφημίαι, blasphemies,ὑπόνοιαι suspicionsπονηραί, wicked, 5  διαπαρατριβαὶ rubbings alongside throughδιεφθαρμένων of (ones) having been thoroughly corruptedἀνθρώπων menτὸν theνοῦν mindκαὶ andἀπεστερημένων having been despoiledτῆς of theἀληθείας, truth,νομιζόντων inferringπορισμὸν acquisitionεἶναι to beτὴν theεὐσέβειαν. revering well. 6  ἔστιν It isδὲ butπορισμὸς acquisitionμέγας greattheεὐσέβεια revering wellμετὰ withαὐταρκείας· self-sufficiency; 7  οὐδὲν nothingγὰρ forεἰσηνέγκαμεν we bore withinεἰς intoτὸν theκόσμον, world,ὅτι becauseοὐδὲ neitherἐξενεγκεῖν to bear outτι anythingδυνάμεθα· we are able; 8  ἔχοντες havingδὲ butδιατροφὰς nourishments throughκαὶ andσκεπάσματα, coverings,τούτοις to these (things)ἀρκεσθησόμεθα. we shall be satisfied. 9  οἱ The (ones)δὲ butβουλόμενοι wishingπλουτεῖν to be richἐμπίπτουσιν are falling inεἰς intoπειρασμὸν temptationκαὶ andπαγίδα snareκαὶ andἐπιθυμίας desiresπολλὰς manyἀνοήτους senselessκαὶ andβλαβεράς, hurtful,αἵτινες whichβυθίζουσιν are dragging to bottomτοὺς theἀνθρώπους menεἰς intoὄλεθρον destructionκαὶ andἀπώλειαν· ruin; 10  ῥίζα rootγὰρ forπάντων of allτῶν theκακῶν bad (things)ἐστὶν istheφιλαργυρία, fondness of silver,ἧς of whichτινὲς someὀρεγόμενοι reaching outἀπεπλανήθησαν were led off into errorἀπὸ fromτῆς theπίστεως faithκαὶ andἑαυτοὺς themselvesπεριέπειραν they pierced aroundὀδύναις to painsπολλαῖς. many. 11  Σὺ Youδέ, but,Oἄνθρωπε manθεοῦ, of God,ταῦτα these (things)φεῦγε· be fleeing;δίωκε be you pursuingδὲ butδικαιοσύνην, righteousness,εὐσέβειαν, revering well,πίστιν, faith,ἀγάπην, love,ὑπομονήν, endurance,πραϋπαθίαν. mildness of temper. 12  ἀγωνίζου Be you strugglingτὸν theκαλὸν fineἀγῶνα struggleτῆς of theπίστεως, faith,ἐπιλαβοῦ take you for self uponτῆς of theαἰωνίου everlastingζωῆς, life,εἰς intoἣν whichἐκλήθης you were calledκαὶ andὡμολόγησας you confessedτὴν theκαλὴν fineὁμολογίαν confessionἐνώπιον in sightπολλῶν of manyμαρτύρων. witnesses. 13  παραγγέλλω I am laying chargeσοι to youἐνώπιον in sightτοῦ of theθεοῦ Godτοῦ the (one)ζωογονοῦντος generating aliveτὰ theπάντα all (things)καὶ andΧριστοῦ of ChristἸησοῦ Jesusτοῦ the (one)μαρτυρήσαντος having borne witnessἐπὶ uponΠοντίου PontiusΠειλάτου Pilateτὴν theκαλὴν fineὁμολογίαν, confession, 14  τηρῆσαί to observeσε youτὴν theἐντολὴν commandmentἄσπιλον spotlessἀνεπίλημπτον irreprehensibleμέχρι untilτῆς theἐπιφανείας manifestationτοῦ of theκυρίου Lordἡμῶν of usἸησοῦ of JesusΧριστοῦ, Christ, 15  ἣν whichκαιροῖς to appointed timesἰδίοις ownδείξει will showtheμακάριος happyκαὶ andμόνος onlyδυνάστης, Potentate,theβασιλεὺς Kingτῶν of the (ones)βασιλευόντων ruling as kingsκαὶ andκύριος Lordτῶν of the (ones)κυριευόντων, ruling as lords, 16  theμόνος only (one)ἔχων havingἀθανασίαν, immortality,φῶς lightοἰκῶν dwelling inἀπρόσιτον, unapproachable,ὃν whomεἶδεν sawοὐδεὶς no oneἀνθρώπων of menοὐδὲ norἰδεῖν to seeδύναται· he is able;to himτιμὴ honorκαὶ andκράτος mightαἰώνιον· everlasting;ἀμήν. amen. 17  Τοῖς To theπλουσίοις rich (ones)ἐν inτῷ theνῦν nowαἰῶνι ageπαράγγελλε be laying chargeμὴ notὑψηλοφρονεῖν to be high-mindedμηδὲ not-butἠλπικέναι to have put hopeἐπὶ uponπλούτου of richesἀδηλότητι, non-evidence,ἀλλ’ butἐπὶ uponθεῷ Godτῷ the (one)παρέχοντι having alongsideἡμῖν to usπάντα all (things)πλουσίως richlyεἰς intoἀπόλαυσιν, enjoyment, 18  ἀγαθοεργεῖν, to be working at good,πλουτεῖν to be richἐν inἔργοις worksκαλοῖς, fine,εὐμεταδότους well-distributing (ones)εἶναι, to be,κοινωνικούς, ready to share, 19  ἀποθησαυρίζοντας treasuring offἑαυτοῖς to themselvesθεμέλιον foundationκαλὸν fineεἰς intoτὸ the (thing)μέλλον, being about (to come),ἵνα in order thatἐπιλάβωνται they might take for themselves uponτῆς of theὄντως essentiallyζωῆς. life. 20  ῏Ω OΤιμόθεε, Timothy,τὴν theπαραθήκην what is put besideφύλαξον, guard you,ἐκτρεπόμενος turning self out ofτὰς theβεβήλους profaneκενοφωνίας empty voicingsκαὶ andἀντιθέσεις antithesesτῆς of theψευδωνύμου falsely namedγνώσεως, knowledge, 21  ἥν whichτινες someἐπαγγελλόμενοι promisingπερὶ aboutτὴν theπίστιν faithἠστόχησαν. they deviated.
