2 Peter 1:1-21

1  Σίμων SimonΠέτρος Peterδοῦλος slaveκαὶ andἀπόστολος apostleἸησοῦ of JesusΧριστοῦ Christτοῖς to the (ones)ἰσότιμον equally preciousἡμῖν to usλαχοῦσιν having obtained (by lot)πίστιν faithἐν inδικαιοσύνῃ righteousnessτοῦ of theθεοῦ Godἡμῶν of usκαὶ andσωτῆρος of SaviorἸησοῦ JesusΧριστοῦ· Christ; 2  χάρις undeserved kindnessὑμῖν to YOUκαὶ andεἰρήνη peaceπληθυνθείη may (it) be multipliedἐν inἐπιγνώσει accurate knowledgeτοῦ of theθεοῦ Godκαὶ andἸησοῦ of Jesusτοῦ theκυρίου Lordἡμῶν, of us, 3  ὡς asπάντα all (things)ἡμῖν to usτῆς of theθείας divineδυνάμεως powerαὐτοῦ of himτὰ the (things)πρὸς towardζωὴν lifeκαὶ andεὐσέβειαν revering wellδεδωρημένης having granted freely for selfδιὰ throughτῆς theἐπιγνώσεως accurate knowledgeτοῦ of the (one)καλέσαντος having calledἡμᾶς usδιὰ throughδόξης gloryκαὶ andἀρετῆς, virtue, 4  δι’ throughὧν which (things)τὰ theτίμια preciousκαὶ andμέγιστα grandestἡμῖν to usἐπαγγέλματα promisesδεδώρηται, he has granted freely,ἵνα in order thatδιὰ throughτούτων these (things)γένησθε YOU might becomeθείας of divineκοινωνοὶ sharersφύσεως, of nature,ἀποφυγόντες having fled offτῆς of theἐν inτῷ theκόσμῳ worldἐν inἐπιθυμίᾳ desireφθορᾶς. of corruption. 5  καὶ Andαὐτὸ veryτοῦτο this (thing)δὲ butσπουδὴν speedupπᾶσαν allπαρεισενέγκαντες having brought in besideἐπιχορηγήσατε supply YOU uponἐν inτῇ to theπίστει faithὑμῶν of YOUτὴν theἀρετήν, virtue,ἐν inδὲ butτῇ theἀρετῇ virtueτὴν theγνῶσιν, knowledge, 6  ἐν inδὲ butτῇ theγνώσει knowledgeτὴν theἐγκράτειαν, self-control,ἐν inδὲ butτῇ theἐγκρατείᾳ self-controlτὴν theὑπομονήν, endurance,ἐν inδὲ butτῇ theὑπομονῇ enduranceτὴν theεὐσέβειαν, well-reverencing, 7  ἐν inδὲ butτῇ theεὐσεβείᾳ well-reverencingτὴν theφιλαδελφίαν, brotherly affection,ἐν inδὲ butτῇ theφιλαδελφίᾳ brotherly affectionτὴν theἀγάπην· love; 8  ταῦτα these (things)γὰρ forὑμῖν to YOUὑπάρχοντα existingκαὶ andπλεονάζοντα becoming moreοὐκ notἀργοὺς ineffectiveοὐδὲ norἀκάρπους unfruitfulκαθίστησιν it is putting downεἰς intoτὴν theτοῦ of theκυρίου Lordἡμῶν of usἸησοῦ of JesusΧριστοῦ Christἐπίγνωσιν· accurate knowledge; 9  to whomγὰρ forμὴ notπάρεστιν is being besideταῦτα, these (things),τυφλός blindἐστιν he isμυωπάζων, partly closing the eyes,λήθην forgetfulnessλαβὼν having receivedτοῦ of theκαθαρισμοῦ cleansingτῶν of theπάλαι of oldαὐτοῦ of himἁμαρτιῶν. of sins. 10  διὸ Through whichμᾶλλον, rather,ἀδελφοί, brothers,σπουδάσατε speed YOU upβεβαίαν stableὑμῶν of YOUτὴν theκλῆσιν callingκαὶ andἐκλογὴν choosingποιεῖσθαι· to be making;ταῦτα these (things)γὰρ forποιοῦντες doingοὐ notμὴ notπταίσητέ YOU should tripποτε· sometime; 11  οὕτως thusγὰρ forπλουσίως richlyἐπιχορηγηθήσεται will be supplied uponὑμῖν to YOUtheεἴσοδος entranceεἰς intoτὴν theαἰώνιον everlastingβασιλείαν kingdomτοῦ of theκυρίου Lordἡμῶν of usκαὶ andσωτῆρος of SaviorἸησοῦ JesusΧριστοῦ. Christ. 12  Διὸ Through whichμελλήσω I shall be disposedἀεὶ everὑμᾶς YOUὑπομιμνήσκειν to be remindingπερὶ aboutτούτων, these (things),καίπερ and-evenεἰδότας (ones) having knownκαὶ andἐστηριγμένους having been firmly fixedἐν inτῇ theπαρούσῃ being besideἀληθείᾳ. truth. 13  δίκαιον Righteousδὲ butἡγοῦμαι, I am considering,ἐφ’ uponὅσον how much [time]εἰμὶ I amἐν inτούτῳ thisτῷ theσκηνώματι, tabernacle,διεγείρειν to be thoroughly raising upὑμᾶς YOUἐν inὑπομνήσει, reminding, 14  εἰδὼς having knownὅτι thatταχινή swiftἐστιν istheἀπόθεσις putting offτοῦ of theσκηνώματός tabernacleμου, of me,καθὼς according asκαὶ alsotheκύριος Lordἡμῶν of usἸησοῦς JesusΧριστὸς Christἐδήλωσέν made evidentμοι· to me; 15  σπουδάσω I shall speed upδὲ butκαὶ alsoἑκάστοτε each timeἔχειν to be havingὑμᾶς YOUμετὰ afterτὴν theἐμὴν myἔξοδον exodusτὴν theτούτων of these (things)μνήμην mentionποιεῖσθαι. to be making. 16  οὐ Notγὰρ forσεσοφισμένοις to (ones) having been wisely madeμύθοις to mythsἐξακολουθήσαντες having followed outἐγνωρίσαμεν we made knownὑμῖν to YOUτὴν theτοῦ of theκυρίου Lordἡμῶν of usἸησοῦ of JesusΧριστοῦ Christδύναμιν powerκαὶ andπαρουσίαν, presence,ἀλλ’ butἐπόπται onlookersγενηθέντες having becomeτῆς of theἐκείνου of that (one)μεγαλειότητος. of magnificence. 17  λαβὼν [He] having receivedγὰρ forπαρὰ besideθεοῦ of Godπατρὸς Fatherτιμὴν honorκαὶ andδόξαν gloryφωνῆς of voiceἐνεχθείσης having been borneαὐτῷ to himτοιᾶσδε of such [voice]ὑπὸ byτῆς theμεγαλοπρεποῦς fittingly greatδόξης gloryTheυἱός Sonμου of metheἀγαπητός lovedμου of meοὗτός thisἐστιν, is,εἰς intoὃν whomἐγὼ Iεὐδόκησα,— thought well,— 18  καὶ andταύτην thisτὴν theφωνὴν voiceἡμεῖς weἠκούσαμεν heardἐξ out ofοὐρανοῦ heavenἐνεχθεῖσαν having been borneσὺν together withαὐτῷ himὄντες [we] beingἐν inτῷ theἁγίῳ holyὄρει. mountain. 19  καὶ Andἔχομεν we are havingβεβαιότερον more stableτὸν theπροφητικὸν propheticλόγον, word,to whichκαλῶς finelyποιεῖτε YOU are doingπροσέχοντες having [mind] towardὡς asλύχνῳ to lampφαίνοντι shiningἐν inαὐχμηρῷ parchedτόπῳ, place,ἕως untilοὗ which [time]ἡμέρα dayδιαυγάσῃ might beam throughκαὶ andφωσφόρος light bearerἀνατείλῃ might rise upἐν inταῖς theκαρδίαις heartsὑμῶν· of YOU; 20  τοῦτο this (thing)πρῶτον firstγινώσκοντες (ones) knowingὅτι thatπᾶσα everyπροφητεία prophecyγραφῆς of Scriptureἰδίας of ownἐπιλύσεως loosing uponοὐ notγίνεται, is becoming, 21  οὐ notγὰρ forθελήματι to willἀνθρώπου of manἠνέχθη was borneπροφητεία prophecyποτέ, at any time,ἀλλὰ butὑπὸ byπνεύματος spiritἁγίου holyφερόμενοι being borneἐλάλησαν they spokeἀπὸ fromθεοῦ Godἄνθρωποι. men.
