Acts 14:1-28

14  ᾿Εγένετο It occurredδὲ butἐν inἸκονίῳ Iconiumκατὰ downτὸ theαὐτὸ very (thing)εἰσελθεῖν to enterαὐτοὺς themεἰς intoτὴν theσυναγωγὴν synagogueτῶν of theἸουδαίων Jewsκαὶ andλαλῆσαι to speakοὕτως thusὥστε as-andπιστεῦσαι to believeἸουδαίων of Jewsτε andκαὶ andἙλλήνων of Greeksπολὺ muchπλῆθος. multitude. 2  οἱ Theδὲ butἀπειθήσαντες having disobeyedἸουδαῖοι Jewsἐπήγειραν roused upκαὶ andἐκάκωσαν they badly affectedτὰς theψυχὰς soulsτῶν of theἐθνῶν nationsκατὰ down onτῶν theἀδελφῶν. brothers. 3  ἱκανὸν Sufficientμὲν indeedοὖν thereforeχρόνον timeδιέτριψαν they spentπαρρησιαζόμενοι speaking boldlyἐπὶ uponτῷ theκυρίῳ Lordτῷ the (one)μαρτυροῦντι bearing witnessτῷ to theλόγῳ wordτῆς of theχάριτος undeserved kindnessαὐτοῦ, of him,διδόντι givingσημεῖα signsκαὶ andτέρατα portentsγίνεσθαι to be occurringδιὰ throughτῶν theχειρῶν handsαὐτῶν. of them. 4  ἐσχίσθη Was splitδὲ butτὸ theπλῆθος multitudeτῆς of theπόλεως, city,καὶ andοἱ the (ones)μὲν indeedἦσαν wereσὺν together withτοῖς theἸουδαίοις Jewsοἱ the (ones)δὲ butσὺν together withτοῖς theἀποστόλοις. apostles. 5  ὡς Asδὲ butἐγένετο occurredὁρμὴ rushingτῶν of theἐθνῶν nationsτε andκαὶ andἸουδαίων Jewsσὺν together withτοῖς theἄρχουσιν rulersαὐτῶν of themὑβρίσαι to outrageκαὶ andλιθοβολῆσαι to throw stones atαὐτούς, them, 6  συνιδόντες having seen withκατέφυγον they fled downεἰς intoτὰς theπόλεις citiesτῆς of theΛυκαονίας LycaoniaΛύστραν Lystraκαὶ andΔέρβην Derbeκαὶ andτὴν theπερίχωρον, roundabout country, 7  κἀκεῖ and thereεὐαγγελιζόμενοι declaring good newsἦσαν. they were. 8  Καί Andτις someἀνὴρ male personἀδύνατος impotentἐν inΛύστροις Lystraτοῖς to theποσὶν feetἐκάθητο, he was sitting,χωλὸς lameἐκ out ofκοιλίας cavityμητρὸς of motherαὐτοῦ, of him,ὃς whoοὐδέποτε neverπεριεπάτησεν. walked about. 9  οὗτος This (one)ἤκουεν was hearingτοῦ of theΠαύλου Paulλαλοῦντος· speaking;ὃς whoἀτενίσας having looked intentlyαὐτῷ to himκαὶ andἰδὼν having seenὅτι thatἔχει he is havingπίστιν faithτοῦ of theσωθῆναι to be saved 10  εἶπεν he saidμεγάλῃ to greatφωνῇ voice᾿Ανάστηθι Stand upἐπὶ uponτοὺς theπόδας feetσου of youὀρθός· erect;καὶ andἥλατο he sprang upκαὶ andπεριεπάτει. he was walking about. 11  οἵ Theτε andὄχλοι crowdsἰδόντες having seenwhichἐποίησεν didΠαῦλος Paulἐπῆραν lifted upτὴν theφωνὴν voiceαὐτῶν of themΛυκαονιστὶ in Lycaonian tongueλέγοντες sayingΟἱ Theθεοὶ godsὁμοιωθέντες having been likenedἀνθρώποις to menκατέβησαν came downπρὸς towardἡμᾶς, us, 12  ἐκάλουν they were callingτε andτὸν theΒαρνάβαν BarnabasΔία, Zeus,τὸν theδὲ butΠαῦλον PaulἙρμῆν Hermesἐπειδὴ sinceαὐτὸς heἦν wastheἡγούμενος leading oneτοῦ of theλόγου. word. 13  Theτε andἱερεὺς priestτοῦ of theΔιὸς Zeusτοῦ the (one)ὄντος beingπρὸ beforeτῆς theπόλεως cityταύρους bullsκαὶ andστέμματα garlandsἐπὶ uponτοὺς theπυλῶνας gatesἐνέγκας having broughtσὺν together withτοῖς theὄχλοις crowdsἤθελεν was desiringθύειν. to be sacrificing. 14  ᾿Ακούσαντες Having heardδὲ butοἱ theἀπόστολοι apostlesΒαρνάβας Barnabasκαὶ andΠαῦλος, Paul,διαρρήξαντες having rippedτὰ theἱμάτια outer garmentsἑαυτῶν of themselvesἐξεπήδησαν they leaped outεἰς intoτὸν theὄχλον, crowd,κράζοντες crying out 15  καὶ andλέγοντες sayingἌνδρες, Male persons,τί whyταῦτα these (things)ποιεῖτε; are YOU doing?καὶ Alsoἡμεῖς weὁμοιοπαθεῖς of like sufferingsἐσμὲν we areὑμῖν to YOUἄνθρωποι, men,εὐαγγελιζόμενοι declaring good news toὑμᾶς YOUἀπὸ fromτούτων theseτῶν theματαίων vain (things)ἐπιστρέφειν to be turningἐπὶ uponθεὸν Godζῶντα livingὃς whoἐποίησεν madeτὸν theοὐρανὸν heavenκαὶ andτὴν theγῆν earthκαὶ andτὴν theθάλασσαν seaκαὶ andπάντα allτὰ the (things)ἐν inαὐτοῖς· them; 16  ὃς whoἐν inταῖς theπαρῳχημέναις having gone byγενεαῖς generationsεἴασεν he permittedπάντα allτὰ theἔθνη nationsπορεύεσθαι to be goingταῖς to theὁδοῖς waysαὐτῶν· of them; 17  καίτοι althoughοὐκ notἀμάρτυρον without witnessαὑτὸν himselfἀφῆκεν he let go offἀγαθουργῶν, working good,οὐρανόθεν from heavenὑμῖν to YOUὑετοὺς rainsδιδοὺς givingκαὶ andκαιροὺς appointed timesκαρποφόρους, fruit-bearing,ἐμπιπλῶν fillingτροφῆς of foodκαὶ andεὐφροσύνης of well-mindednessτὰς theκαρδίας heartsὑμῶν. of YOU. 18  καὶ Andταῦτα these (things)λέγοντες sayingμόλις scarcelyκατέπαυσαν they restrainedτοὺς theὄχλους crowdsτοῦ of theμὴ notθύειν to be sacrificingαὐτοῖς. to them. 19  ᾿Επῆλθαν They came uponδὲ butἀπὸ from᾿Αντιοχείας Antiochκαὶ andἸκονίου IconiumἸουδαῖοι, Jews,καὶ andπείσαντες having persuadedτοὺς theὄχλους crowdsκαὶ andλιθάσαντες having stonedτὸν theΠαῦλον Paulἔσυρον they were draggingἔξω outsideτῆς of theπόλεως, city,νομίζοντες opiningαὐτὸν himτεθνηκέναι. to have died. 20  κυκλωσάντων Having encircledδὲ butτῶν of theμαθητῶν disciplesαὐτὸν himἀναστὰς having stood upεἰσῆλθεν he enteredεἰς intoτὴν theπόλιν. city.καὶ Andτῇ to theἐπαύριον morrowἐξῆλθεν he went outσὺν together withτῷ theΒαρνάβᾳ Barnabasεἰς intoΔέρβην. Derbe. 21  εὐαγγελισάμενοί Having declared good news toτε andτὴν theπόλιν cityἐκείνην thatκαὶ andμαθητεύσαντες having made disciplesἱκανοὺς sufficient (ones)ὑπέστρεψαν they returnedεἰς intoτὴν theΛύστραν Lystraκαὶ andεἰς intoἸκόνιον Iconiumκαὶ andεἰς into᾿Αντιόχειαν, Antioch, 22  ἐπιστηρίζοντες firmly fixingτὰς theψυχὰς soulsτῶν of theμαθητῶν, disciples,παρακαλοῦντες encouragingἐμμένειν to be remaining inτῇ theπίστει faithκαὶ andὅτι thatδιὰ throughπολλῶν manyθλίψεων tribulationsδεῖ it is necessaryἡμᾶς usεἰσελθεῖν to enterεἰς intoτὴν theβασιλείαν kingdomτοῦ of theθεοῦ. God. 23  χειροτονήσαντες Having appointed [by extended hand]δὲ butαὐτοῖς to themκατ’ according toἐκκλησίαν ecclesiaπρεσβυτέρους older menπροσευξάμενοι having prayedμετὰ withνηστειῶν fastingsπαρέθεντο they put besideαὐτοὺς themτῷ to theκυρίῳ Lordεἰς intoὃν whomπεπιστεύκεισαν. they had believed. 24  Καὶ Andδιελθόντες going throughτὴν theΠισιδίαν Pisidiaἦλθαν they cameεἰς intoτὴν theΠαμφυλίαν, Pamphylia, 25  καὶ andλαλήσαντες having spokenἐν inΠέργῃ Pergaτὸν theλόγον wordκατέβησαν they stepped downεἰς into᾿Ατταλίαν, Attalia, 26  κἀκεῖθεν and from thereἀπέπλευσαν they sailed offεἰς into᾿Αντιόχειαν, Antioch,ὅθεν from whereἦσαν they wereπαραδεδομένοι having been given besideτῇ to theχάριτι undeserved kindnessτοῦ of theθεοῦ Godεἰς intoτὸ theἔργον workwhichἐπλήρωσαν. they fulfilled. 27  Παραγενόμενοι Having come to be alongsideδὲ butκαὶ andσυναγαγόντες having led togetherτὴν theἐκκλησίαν ecclesiaἀνήγγελλον they were recountingὅσα as many (things) asἐποίησεν didtheθεὸς Godμετ’ withαὐτῶν themκαὶ andὅτι thatἤνοιξεν he opened upτοῖς to theἔθνεσιν nationsθύραν doorπίστεως. of faith. 28  διέτριβον They were spendingδὲ butχρόνον timeοὐκ notὀλίγον littleσὺν together withτοῖς theμαθηταῖς. disciples.
