Ephesians 4:1-32

4  Παρακαλῶ I am entreatingοὖν thereforeὑμᾶς YOUἐγὼ Itheδέσμιος bound oneἐν inκυρίῳ Lordἀξίως worthilyπεριπατῆσαι to walkτῆς of theκλήσεως callingἧς of whichἐκλήθητε, YOU were called, 2  μετὰ withπάσης allταπεινοφροσύνης lowly-mindednessκαὶ andπραΰτητος, mildness,μετὰ withμακροθυμίας, longness of spirit,ἀνεχόμενοι holding selves upἀλλήλων of one anotherἐν inἀγάπῃ, love, 3  σπουδάζοντες speeding upτηρεῖν to be observingτὴν theἑνότητα unityτοῦ of theπνεύματος spiritἐν inτῷ theσυνδέσμῳ joint-bondτῆς of theεἰρήνης· peace; 4  ἓν oneσῶμα bodyκαὶ andἓν oneπνεῦμα, spirit,καθὼς according asκαὶ alsoἐκλήθητε YOU were calledἐν inμιᾷ oneἐλπίδι hopeτῆς of theκλήσεως callingὑμῶν· of YOU; 5  εἷς oneκύριος, Lord,μία oneπίστις, faith,ἓν oneβάπτισμα· baptism; 6  εἷς oneθεὸς Godκαὶ andπατὴρ Fatherπάντων, of all (ones),the (one)ἐπὶ uponπάντων allκαὶ andδιὰ throughπάντων allκαὶ andἐν inπᾶσιν. all. 7  Ἑνὶ To oneδὲ butἑκάστῳ to eachἡμῶν of usἐδόθη was giventheχάρις undeserved kindnessκατὰ according toτὸ theμέτρον measureτῆς of theδωρεᾶς free giftτοῦ of theχριστοῦ. Christ. 8  διὸ Through whichλέγει he is saying᾿Αναβὰς Having stepped upεἰς intoὕψος heightᾐχμαλώτευσεν he led captiveαἰχμαλωσίαν, captivity,καὶ andἔδωκεν he gaveδόματα giftsτοῖς to theἀνθρώποις. men. 9  τὸ Theδέ but᾿Ανέβη He stepped upτί whatἐστιν is itεἰ ifμὴ notὅτι thatκαὶ alsoκατέβη he stepped downεἰς intoτὰ theκατώτερα lowerμέρη partsτῆς of theγῆς; earth? 10  The (one)καταβὰς having stepped downαὐτός thisἐστιν isκαὶ alsothe (one)ἀναβὰς having stepped upὑπεράνω over-upwardπάντων of allτῶν theοὐρανῶν, heavens,ἵνα in order thatπληρώσῃ he might fillτὰ theπάντα. all (things). 11  καὶ Andαὐτὸς heἔδωκεν gaveτοὺς the (ones)μὲν indeedἀποστόλους, apostles,τοὺς the (ones)δὲ butπροφήτας, prophets,τοὺς the (ones)δὲ butεὐαγγελιστάς, evangelizers,τοὺς the (ones)δὲ butποιμένας shepherdsκαὶ andδιδασκάλους, teachers, 12  πρὸς towardτὸν theκαταρτισμὸν adjusting downτῶν of theἁγίων holy (ones)εἰς intoἔργον workδιακονίας, of service,εἰς intoοἰκοδομὴν building upτοῦ of theσώματος bodyτοῦ of theχριστοῦ, Christ, 13  μέχρι untilκαταντήσωμεν we might attain downοἱ theπάντες all (ones)εἰς intoτὴν theἑνότητα onenessτῆς of theπίστεως faithκαὶ andτῆς of theἐπιγνώσεως accurate knowledgeτοῦ of theυἱοῦ Sonτοῦ of theθεοῦ, God,εἰς intoἄνδρα male personτέλειον, perfect,εἰς intoμέτρον measureἡλικίας of statureτοῦ of theπληρώματος fullnessτοῦ of theχριστοῦ, Christ, 14  ἵνα in order thatμηκέτι not yetὦμεν we may beνήπιοι, babes,κλυδωνιζόμενοι being tossed about by wavesκαὶ andπεριφερόμενοι being borne aroundπαντὶ to everyἀνέμῳ windτῆς of theδιδασκαλίας teachingἐν inτῇ theκυβίᾳ (dice) cubeτῶν of theἀνθρώπων menἐν inπανουργίᾳ all-workingπρὸς towardτὴν theμεθοδίαν craftinessτῆς of theπλάνης, error, 15  ἀληθεύοντες maintaining truthδὲ butἐν inἀγάπῃ loveαὐξήσωμεν we should growεἰς intoαὐτὸν himτὰ theπάντα, all (things),ὅς whoἐστιν istheκεφαλή, head,Χριστός, Christ, 16  ἐξ out ofοὗ whomπᾶν allτὸ theσῶμα bodyσυναρμολογούμενον being jointed togetherκαὶ andσυνβιβαζόμενον being made to go togetherδιὰ throughπάσης everyἁφῆς connectionτῆς of theἐπιχορηγίας supplyκατ’ according toἐνέργειαν operation withinἐν inμέτρῳ measureἑνὸς of oneἑκάστου of eachμέρους partτὴν theαὔξησιν growthτοῦ of theσώματος bodyποιεῖται it makes for selfεἰς intoοἰκοδομὴν building upἑαυτοῦ of itselfἐν inἀγάπῃ. love. 17  Τοῦτο Thisοὖν thereforeλέγω I am sayingκαὶ andμαρτύρομαι I am bearing witnessἐν inκυρίῳ, Lord,μηκέτι not yetὑμᾶς YOUπεριπατεῖν to be walkingκαθὼς according asκαὶ alsoτὰ theἔθνη nationsπεριπατεῖ is walkingἐν inματαιότητι vanityτοῦ of theνοὸς mindαὐτῶν, of them, 18  ἐσκοτωμένοι (ones) having been darkenedτῇ to theδιανοίᾳ perceptionὄντες, (ones) being,ἀπηλλοτριωμένοι (ones) having been alienatedτῆς of theζωῆς lifeτοῦ of theθεοῦ, God,διὰ throughτὴν theἄγνοιαν ignoranceτὴν theοὖσαν beingἐν inαὐτοῖς, them,διὰ throughτὴν theπώρωσιν dullingτῆς of theκαρδίας heartαὐτῶν, of them, 19  οἵτινες whoἀπηλγηκότες having ceased to feel painἑαυτοὺς themselvesπαρέδωκαν they gave overτῇ to theἀσελγείᾳ loose conductεἰς intoἐργασίαν workingἀκαθαρσίας of uncleannessπάσης allἐν inπλεονεξίᾳ. having more. 20  Ὑμεῖς YOUδὲ butοὐχ notοὕτως thusἐμάθετε YOU learnedτὸν theχριστόν, Christ, 21  εἴ ifγε in factαὐτὸν himἠκούσατε YOU heardκαὶ andἐν inαὐτῷ himἐδιδάχθητε, YOU were taught,καθὼς according asἔστιν isἀλήθεια truthἐν inτῷ theἸησοῦ, Jesus, 22  ἀποθέσθαι to put off selvesὑμᾶς YOUκατὰ according toτὴν theπροτέραν formerἀναστροφὴν course of conductτὸν theπαλαιὸν oldἄνθρωπον manτὸν the (one)φθειρόμενον being corruptedκατὰ according toτὰς theἐπιθυμίας desiresτῆς of theἀπάτης, seduction, 23  ἀνανεοῦσθαι to be renewedδὲ butτῷ to theπνεύματι spiritτοῦ of theνοὸς mindὑμῶν, of YOU, 24  καὶ andἐνδύσασθαι to put on selvesτὸν theκαινὸν newἄνθρωπον manτὸν theκατὰ according toθεὸν Godκτισθέντα having been createdἐν inδικαιοσύνῃ righteousnessκαὶ andὁσιότητι loyaltyτῆς of theἀληθείας. truth. 25  Διὸ Through whichἀποθέμενοι having put offτὸ theψεῦδος falsehoodλαλεῖτε be YOU speakingἀλήθειαν truthἕκαστος each (one)μετὰ withτοῦ theπλησίον neighborαὐτοῦ, of him,ὅτι becauseἐσμὲν we areἀλλήλων of one anotherμέλη. members. 26  ὀργίζεσθε Be YOU being made wrathfulκαὶ andμὴ notἁμαρτάνετε· be YOU sinning;theἥλιος sunμὴ notἐπιδυέτω let it be going down uponἐπὶ uponπαροργισμῷ provocation to wrathὑμῶν, of YOU, 27  μηδὲ neitherδίδοτε be YOU givingτόπον placeτῷ to theδιαβόλῳ. Devil. 28  The (one)κλέπτων stealingμηκέτι not yetκλεπτέτω, let him be stealing,μᾶλλον ratherδὲ butκοπιάτω let him be laboringἐργαζόμενος workingταῖς to theχερσὶν handsτὸ theἀγαθόν, good (thing),ἵνα in order thatἔχῃ he may be havingμεταδιδόναι to be giving shareτῷ to the (one)χρείαν needἔχοντι. having. 29  πᾶς Everyλόγος wordσαπρὸς rottenἐκ out ofτοῦ theστόματος mouthὑμῶν of YOUμὴ notἐκπορευέσθω, let it be proceeding out,ἀλλὰ butεἴ ifτις anyἀγαθὸς good (one)πρὸς towardοἰκοδομὴν building upτῆς of theχρείας, need,ἵνα in order thatδῷ he might giveχάριν favorτοῖς to the (ones)ἀκούουσιν. hearing. 30  καὶ Andμὴ notλυπεῖτε be YOU saddeningτὸ theπνεῦμα spiritτὸ theἅγιον holyτοῦ of theθεοῦ, God,ἐν inwhichἐσφραγίσθητε YOU were sealedεἰς intoἡμέραν dayἀπολυτρώσεως. of releasing by ransom. 31  πᾶσα Everyπικρία bitternessκαὶ andθυμὸς angerκαὶ andὀργὴ wrathκαὶ andκραυγὴ screamingκαὶ andβλασφημία blasphemyἀρθήτω let it be lifted upἀφ’ fromὑμῶν YOUσὺν together withπάσῃ allκακίᾳ. badness. 32  γίνεσθε Be YOU becomingδὲ butεἰς intoἀλλήλους one anotherχρηστοί, kind,εὔσπλαγχνοι, disposed well to pity,χαριζόμενοι graciously forgivingἑαυτοῖς to selvesκαθὼς according asκαὶ alsotheθεὸς Godἐν inΧριστῷ Christἐχαρίσατο graciously forgaveὑμῖν. to YOU.
