Galatians 2:1-21

2  Ἔπειτα Thereuponδιὰ throughδεκατεσσάρων fourteenἐτῶν yearsπάλιν againἀνέβην I stepped upεἰς intoἸεροσόλυμα Jerusalemμετὰ withΒαρνάβα, Barnabas,συνπαραλαβὼν having taken along withκαὶ alsoΤίτον· Titus; 2  ἀνέβην I stepped upδὲ butκατὰ according toἀποκάλυψιν· revelation;καὶ andἀνεθέμην I put upαὐτοῖς to themτὸ theεὐαγγέλιον good newswhichκηρύσσω I am preachingἐν inτοῖς theἔθνεσιν, nations,κατ’ according toἰδίαν own [place]δὲ butτοῖς to the (ones)δοκοῦσιν, seeming,μή notπως somehowεἰς intoκενὸν empti (ness)τρέχω I may be runningorἔδραμον. I ran. 3  ἀλλ’ Butοὐδὲ not-butΤίτος Titusthe (one)σὺν together withἐμοί, me,Ἕλλην Greekὤν, being,ἠναγκάσθη was put under necessityπεριτμηθῆναι· to be circumcised; 4  διὰ throughδὲ butτοὺς theπαρεισάκτους led into alongsideψευδαδέλφους, false brothers,οἵτινες whoπαρεισῆλθον came into alongsideκατασκοπῆσαι to look down atτὴν theἐλευθερίαν freedomἡμῶν of usἣν whichἔχομεν we are havingἐν inΧριστῷ ChristἸησοῦ, Jesus,ἵνα in order thatἡμᾶς usκαταδουλώσουσιν,— they will enslave down,— 5  οἷς to whomοὐδὲ not-butπρὸς towardὥραν hourεἴξαμεν we yieldedτῇ to theὑποταγῇ, subjection,ἵνα in order thattheἀλήθεια truthτοῦ of theεὐαγγελίου good newsδιαμείνῃ might remain throughπρὸς towardὑμᾶς. YOU. 6  ἀπὸ Fromδὲ butτῶν the (ones)δοκούντων seemingεἶναί to beτι— something—ὁποῖοί of what sortποτε sometimeἦσαν they wereοὐδέν nothingμοι to meδιαφέρει— it is differing—πρόσωπον facetheθεὸς Godἀνθρώπου of manοὐ notλαμβάνει— is receiving—ἐμοὶ to meγὰρ forοἱ the (ones)δοκοῦντες seemingοὐδὲν nothingπροσανέθεντο, they put up toward, 7  ἀλλὰ butτοὐναντίον the (thing) in againstἰδόντες (ones) having seenὅτι thatπεπίστευμαι I have been entrusted withτὸ theεὐαγγέλιον good newsτῆς of theἀκροβυστίας uncircumcisionκαθὼς according asΠέτρος Peterτῆς of theπεριτομῆς, circumcision, 8  the (one)γὰρ forἐνεργήσας having worked withinΠέτρῳ to Peterεἰς intoἀποστολὴν apostleshipτῆς of theπεριτομῆς circumcisionἐνήργησεν he worked inκαὶ alsoἐμοὶ to meεἰς intoτὰ theἔθνη, nations, 9  καὶ andγνόντες having knownτὴν theχάριν undeserved kindnessτὴν the (one)δοθεῖσάν givenμοι, to me,Ἰάκωβος Jamesκαὶ andΚηφᾶς Cephasκαὶ andἸωάνης, John,οἱ the (ones)δοκοῦντες seemingστύλοι pillarsεἶναι, to be,δεξιὰς right [hands]ἔδωκαν they gaveἐμοὶ to meκαὶ andΒαρνάβᾳ to Barnabasκοινωνίας, of sharing,ἵνα in order thatἡμεῖς weεἰς intoτὰ theἔθνη, nations,αὐτοὶ theyδὲ butεἰς intoτὴν theπεριτομήν· circumcision; 10  μόνον onlyτῶν of theπτωχῶν poor (ones)ἵνα in order thatμνημονεύωμεν, we may remember,whichκαὶ alsoἐσπούδασα I speeded upαὐτὸ veryτοῦτο this (thing)ποιῆσαι. to do. 11  Ὅτε Whenδὲ butἦλθεν cameΚηφᾶς Cephasεἰς into᾿Αντιόχειαν, Antioch,κατὰ down onπρόσωπον faceαὐτῷ to himἀντέστην, I stood against,ὅτι becauseκατεγνωσμένος having been known down onἦν· he was; 12  πρὸ beforeτοῦ theγὰρ forἐλθεῖν to comeτινὰς some (ones)ἀπὸ fromἸακώβου Jamesμετὰ withτῶν theἐθνῶν nationsσυνήσθιεν· he was eating together;ὅτε whenδὲ butἦλθον, they came,ὑπέστελλεν he was withdrawingκαὶ andἀφώριζεν was defining offἑαυτόν, himself,φοβούμενος fearingτοὺς the (ones)ἐκ out ofπεριτομῆς. circumcision. 13  καὶ Andσυνυπεκρίθησαν they made pretense togetherαὐτῷ to himκαὶ alsoοἱ theλοιποὶ leftoverἸουδαῖοι, Jews,ὥστε as-andκαὶ alsoΒαρνάβας Barnabasσυναπήχθη was led off togetherαὐτῶν of themτῇ to theὑποκρίσει. hypocrisy. 14  ἀλλ’ Butὅτε whenεἶδον I sawὅτι thatοὐκ notὀρθοποδοῦσιν they are walking straightπρὸς towardτὴν theἀλήθειαν truthτοῦ of theεὐαγγελίου, good news,εἶπον I saidτῷ to theΚηφᾷ Cephasἔμπροσθεν in frontπάντων of all (ones)Εἰ Ifσὺ youἸουδαῖος Jewὑπάρχων beingἐθνικῶς nation-likeκαὶ andοὐκ notἸουδαϊκῶς Jewish-likeζῇς, are living,πῶς howτὰ theἔθνη nationsἀναγκάζεις are you putting under necessityἸουδαΐζειν; to be Judaizing? 15  Ἡμεῖς Weφύσει to natureἸουδαῖοι Jewsκαὶ andοὐκ notἐξ out ofἐθνῶν nationsἁμαρτωλοί, sinners, 16  εἰδότες having knownδὲ butὅτι thatοὐ notδικαιοῦται is being justifiedἄνθρωπος manἐξ out ofἔργων worksνόμου of lawἐὰν if everμὴ notδιὰ throughπίστεως faithΧριστοῦ of ChristἸησοῦ, Jesus,καὶ alsoἡμεῖς weεἰς intoΧριστὸν ChristἸησοῦν Jesusἐπιστεύσαμεν, we believed,ἵνα in order thatδικαιωθῶμεν we might be justifiedἐκ out ofπίστεως faithΧριστοῦ of Christκαὶ andοὐκ notἐξ out ofἔργων worksνόμου, of law,ὅτι becauseἐξ out ofἔργων worksνόμου of lawοὐ notδικαιωθήσεται will be justifiedπᾶσα everyσάρξ. flesh. 17  εἰ Ifδὲ butζητοῦντες (ones) seekingδικαιωθῆναι to be justifiedἐν inΧριστῷ Christεὑρέθημεν we were foundκαὶ alsoαὐτοὶ veryἁμαρτωλοί, sinners,ἆρα reallyΧριστὸς Christἁμαρτίας of sinδιάκονος; servant?μὴ Notγένοιτο· may it occur; 18  εἰ ifγὰρ forwhat (things)κατέλυσα I loosed downταῦτα these (things)πάλιν againοἰκοδομῶ, I am building up,παραβάτην transgressorἐμαυτὸν myselfσυνιστάνω. I am constituting. 19  ἐγὼ Iγὰρ forδιὰ throughνόμου lawνόμῳ to lawἀπέθανον I diedἵνα in order thatθεῷ to Godζήσω· I might live; 20  Χριστῷ to Christσυνεσταύρωμαι· I have been put on stake together.ζῶ I am livingδὲ butοὐκέτι not yetἐγώ, I,ζῇ is livingδὲ butἐν inἐμοὶ meΧριστός· Christ;whichδὲ butνῦν nowζῶ I am livingἐν inσαρκί, flesh,ἐν inπίστει faithζῶ I am livingτῇ to the (one)τοῦ of theυἱοῦ Sonτοῦ of theθεοῦ Godτοῦ of the (one)ἀγαπήσαντός having lovedμε meκαὶ andπαραδόντος having given besideἑαυτὸν himselfὑπὲρ overἐμοῦ. me. 21  Οὐκ Notἀθετῶ I am putting asideτὴν theχάριν undeserved kindnessτοῦ of theθεοῦ· God;εἰ ifγὰρ forδιὰ throughνόμου lawδικαιοσύνη, righteousness,ἄρα reallyΧριστὸς Christδωρεὰν [as] free giftἀπέθανεν. he died.
