Hebrews 2:1-18

2  Διὰ Throughτοῦτο thisδεῖ it is bindingπερισσοτέρως more abundantlyπροσέχειν to be having [mind] towardἡμᾶς usτοῖς to the (things)ἀκουσθεῖσιν, having been heard,μή notποτε sometimeπαραρυῶμεν. we might be made to flow beside. 2  εἰ Ifγὰρ fortheδι’ throughἀγγέλων angelsλαληθεὶς having been spokenλόγος wordἐγένετο becameβέβαιος, stable,καὶ andπᾶσα everyπαράβασις transgressionκαὶ andπαρακοὴ disobedienceἔλαβεν receivedἔνδικον agreeable to justiceμισθαποδοσίαν, paying back of reward, 3  πῶς howἡμεῖς weἐκφευξόμεθα shall we flee outτηλικαύτης of so greatἀμελήσαντες having been unconcernedσωτηρίας, of salvation,ἥτις, which,ἀρχὴν beginningλαβοῦσα having receivedλαλεῖσθαι to be being spokenδιὰ throughτοῦ theκυρίου, Lord,ὑπὸ byτῶν the (ones)ἀκουσάντων having heardεἰς intoἡμᾶς usἐβεβαιώθη, was stabilized, 4  συνεπιμαρτυροῦντος of (one) jointly bearing witness uponτοῦ of theθεοῦ Godσημείοις to signsτε andκαὶ andτέρασιν to portentsκαὶ andποικίλαις to variousδυνάμεσιν powersκαὶ andπνεύματος of spiritἁγίου holyμερισμοῖς to distributionsκατὰ according toτὴν theαὐτοῦ of himθέλησιν; will? 5  Οὐ Notγὰρ forἀγγέλοις to angelsὑπέταξεν he subjectedτὴν theοἰκουμένην being inhabited [earth]τὴν the (one)μέλλουσαν, being about (to come),περὶ aboutἧς whichλαλοῦμεν· we are speaking; 6  διεμαρτύρατο he bore thorough witnessδέ butπού somewhereτις someoneλέγων sayingΤί Whatἐστιν isἄνθρωπος manὅτι thatμιμνήσκῃ you are rememberingαὐτοῦ, of him,orυἱὸς sonἀνθρώπου of manὅτι thatἐπισκέπτῃ you are looking uponαὐτόν; him? 7  ἠλάττωσας You made lessαὐτὸν himβραχύ shortτι somethingπαρ’ besideἀγγέλους, angels,δόξῃ to gloryκαὶ andτιμῇ to honorἐστεφάνωσας you crownedαὐτόν, him,καὶ andκατέστησας you set downαὐτὸν himἐπὶ uponτὰ theἔργα worksτῶν of theχειρῶν handsσου, of you, 8  πάντα all (things)ὑπέταξας you subjectedὑποκάτω down underτῶν theποδῶν feetαὐτοῦ· of him;ἐν inτῷ theγὰρ forὑποτάξαι to subjectαὐτῷ to himτὰ theπάντα all (things)οὐδὲν nothingἀφῆκεν he let go offαὐτῷ to himἀνυπότακτον. unsubjected.νῦν Nowδὲ butοὔπω not as yetὁρῶμεν we are seeingαὐτῷ to himτὰ theπάντα all (things)ὑποτεταγμένα· having been subjected; 9  τὸν theδὲ butβραχύ shortτι somethingπαρ’ besideἀγγέλους angelsἠλαττωμένον having been made lessβλέπομεν we are looking atἸησοῦν Jesusδιὰ throughτὸ theπάθημα sufferingτοῦ of theθανάτου deathδόξῃ to gloryκαὶ andτιμῇ to honorἐστεφανωμένον, having been crowned,ὅπως so thatχάριτι to undeserved kindnessθεοῦ of Godὑπὲρ overπαντὸς every [man]γεύσηται he might tasteθανάτου. of death. 10  Ἔπρεπεν It was fittingγὰρ forαὐτῷ, to him,δι’ throughὃν whomτὰ theπάντα all (things)καὶ andδι’ throughοὗ whomτὰ theπάντα, all (things),πολλοὺς manyυἱοὺς sonsεἰς intoδόξαν gloryἀγαγόντα having ledτὸν theἀρχηγὸν Chief Leaderτῆς of theσωτηρίας salvationαὐτῶν of themδιὰ throughπαθημάτων sufferingsτελειῶσαι. to perfect. 11  The (one)τε andγὰρ forἁγιάζων sanctifyingκαὶ andοἱ the (ones)ἁγιαζόμενοι being sanctifiedἐξ out ofἑνὸς oneπάντες· all;δι’ throughἣν whichαἰτίαν causeοὐκ notἐπαισχύνεται he is made ashamed uponἀδελφοὺς brothersαὐτοὺς themκαλεῖν, to be calling, 12  λέγων saying᾿Απαγγελῶ I shall report backτὸ theὄνομά nameσου of youτοῖς to theἀδελφοῖς brothersμου, of me,ἐν inμέσῳ midstἐκκλησίας of ecclesiaὑμνήσω I shall hymnσε· you; 13  καὶ andπάλιν again᾿Εγὼ Iἔσομαι shall beπεποιθὼς having trustedἐπ’ uponαὐτῷ· him;καὶ andπάλιν againἸδοὺ Look!ἐγὼ Iκαὶ andτὰ theπαιδία little boyswhomμοι to meἔδωκεν gavetheθεός.
