Hebrews 6:1-20

6  Διὸ Through whichἀφέντες having let go offτὸν theτῆς of theἀρχῆς beginningτοῦ of theχριστοῦ Christλόγον wordἐπὶ uponτὴν theτελειότητα perfectionφερώμεθα, may we be borne on,μὴ notπάλιν againθεμέλιον foundationκαταβαλλόμενοι throwing down for selvesμετανοίας of repentanceἀπὸ fromνεκρῶν deadἔργων, works,καὶ andπίστεως of faithἐπὶ uponθεόν, God, 2  βαπτισμῶν of baptismsδιδαχὴν teachingἐπιθέσεώς putting uponτε andχειρῶν, of hands,ἀναστάσεως of resurrectionνεκρῶν of dead (ones)καὶ andκρίματος of judgmentαἰωνίου. everlasting. 3  καὶ Andτοῦτο thisποιήσομεν we shall doἐάνπερ if ever evenἐπιτρέπῃ may permitὁ theθεός. God. 4  ᾿Αδύνατον Impossibleγὰρ forτοὺς the (ones)ἅπαξ once for allφωτισθέντας having been enlightenedγευσαμένους having tastedτε andτῆς of theδωρεᾶς free giftτῆς of theἐπουρανίου heavenlyκαὶ andμετόχους partakersγενηθέντας having becomeπνεύματος of spiritἁγίου holy 5  καὶ andκαλὸν fineγευσαμένους having tastedθεοῦ of Godῥῆμα sayingδυνάμεις powersτε andμέλλοντος of being about (to come)αἰῶνος, age, 6  καὶ andπαραπεσόντας, having fallen beside,πάλιν againἀνακαινίζειν to be renovatingεἰς intoμετάνοιαν, repentance,ἀνασταυροῦντας putting on stake againἑαυτοῖς to themselvesτὸν theυἱὸν Sonτοῦ of theθεοῦ Godκαὶ andπαραδειγματίζοντας. God; 8  ἐκφέρουσα bearing outδὲ butἀκάνθας thornsκαὶ andτριβόλους thistlesἀδόκιμος disapprovedκαὶ andκατάρας of curseἐγγύς, near,ἧς of which [earth]τὸ theτέλος endεἰς intoκαῦσιν. burning. 9  Πεπείσμεθα We have been persuadedδὲ butπερὶ aboutὑμῶν, YOU,ἀγαπητοί, loved (ones),τὰ the (things)κρείσσονα betterκαὶ andἐχόμενα havingσωτηρίας, of salvation,εἰ ifκαὶ andοὕτως thusλαλοῦμεν· we are speaking; 10  οὐ notγὰρ forἄδικος unrighteousὁ theθεὸς Godἐπιλαθέσθαι to forgetτοῦ of theἔργου workὑμῶν of YOUκαὶ andτῆς of theἀγάπης loveἧς of whichἐνεδείξασθε YOU showed withinεἰς intoτὸ theὄνομα nameαὐτοῦ, of him,διακονήσαντες having servedτοῖς to theἁγίοις holy (ones)καὶ andδιακονοῦντες. serving. 11  ἐπιθυμοῦμεν We are desiringδὲ butἕκαστον eachὑμῶν of YOUτὴν theαὐτὴν veryἐνδείκνυσθαι to be showing withinσπουδὴν speed upπρὸς towardτὴν theπληροφορίαν fully being borneτῆς of theἐλπίδος hopeἄχρι untilτέλους, end, 12  ἵνα in order thatμὴ notνωθροὶ sluggishγένησθε, YOU might become,μιμηταὶ imitatorsδὲ butτῶν of the (ones)διὰ throughπίστεως faithκαὶ andμακροθυμίας longness of spiritκληρονομούντων of (ones) inheritingτὰς theἐπαγγελίας. promises. 13  Τῷ To theγὰρ for᾿Αβραὰμ Abrahamἐπαγγειλάμενος having promisedὁ theθεός, God,ἐπεὶ sinceκατ’ down onοὐδενὸς no oneεἶχεν he was havingμείζονος greaterὀμόσαι, to swear,ὤμοσεν he sworeκαθ’ down onἑαυτοῦ, himself, 14  λέγων sayingΕἰ Ifμὴν surelyεὐλογῶν blessingεὐλογήσω I shall blessσε youκαὶ andπληθύνων multiplyingπληθυνῶ I shall multiplyσε· you; 15  καὶ andοὕτως thusμακροθυμήσας having shown longness of spiritἐπέτυχεν he obtainedτῆς of theἐπαγγελίας. promise. 16  ἄνθρωποι Menγὰρ forκατὰ down onτοῦ theμείζονος greater (one)ὀμνύουσιν, are swearing,καὶ andπάσης of allαὐτοῖς to themἀντιλογίας contradictionπέρας limitεἰς intoβεβαίωσιν stabilizingὁ theὅρκος· oath; 17  ἐν inᾧ whichπερισσότερον more abundantlyβουλόμενος wishingὁ theθεὸς Godἐπιδεῖξαι to show uponτοῖς to theκληρονόμοις heirsτῆς of theἐπαγγελίας promiseτὸ theἀμετάθετον unchangeablenessτῆς of theβουλῆς counselαὐτοῦ of himἐμεσίτευσεν he mediatedὅρκῳ, to oath, 18  ἵνα in order thatδιὰ throughδύο twoπραγμάτων thingsἀμεταθέτων, unchangeable,ἐν inοἷς which (ones)ἀδύνατον impossibleψεύσασθαι to lieθεόν, God,ἰσχυρὰν strongπαράκλησιν encouragementἔχωμεν we may be havingοἱ the (ones)καταφυγόντες having fled downκρατῆσαι to take holdτῆς of theπροκειμένης lying down beforeἐλπίδος· hope; 19  ἣν whichὡς asἄγκυραν anchorἔχομεν we are havingτῆς of theψυχῆς, soul,ἀσφαλῆ sureτε andκαὶ andβεβαίαν stableκαὶ andεἰσερχομένην enteringεἰς intoτὸ theἐσώτερον inner [part]τοῦ of theκαταπετάσματος, curtain, 20  ὅπου whereπρόδρομος forerunnerὑπὲρ overἡμῶν usεἰσῆλθεν enteredἸησοῦς, Jesus,κατὰ according toτὴν theτάξιν lineupΜελχισεδὲκ of Melchizedekἀρχιερεὺς chief priestγενόμενος having becomeεἰς intoτὸν theαἰῶνα. age.
