James 4:1-17

4  Πόθεν Wherefromπόλεμοι warsκαὶ andπόθεν wherefromμάχαι fightsἐν inὑμῖν; YOU?οὐκ Notἐντεῦθεν, herefrom,ἐκ out ofτῶν theἡδονῶν pleasuresὑμῶν of YOUτῶν the (ones)στρατευομένων doing military serviceἐν inτοῖς theμέλεσιν membersὑμῶν; of YOU? 2  ἐπιθυμεῖτε, YOU are desiring,καὶ andοὐκ notἔχετε· YOU are having;φονεύετε YOU are murderingκαὶ andζηλοῦτε, YOU are being jealous,καὶ andοὐ notδύνασθε YOU are ableἐπιτυχεῖν· to obtain;μάχεσθε YOU are fightingκαὶ andπολεμεῖτε. YOU are warring.οὐκ Notἔχετε YOU are havingδιὰ throughτὸ theμὴ notαἰτεῖσθαι to be askingὑμᾶς· YOU; 3  αἰτεῖτε YOU are askingκαὶ andοὐ notλαμβάνετε, YOU are receiving,διότι through whichκακῶς badlyαἰτεῖσθε, YOU are asking for selves,ἵνα in order thatἐν inταῖς theἡδοναῖς pleasuresὑμῶν of YOUδαπανήσητε. YOU might spend. 4  μοιχαλίδες, Adulteresses,οὐκ notοἴδατε have YOU knownὅτι thatἡ theφιλία friendshipτοῦ of theκόσμου worldἔχθρα enmityτοῦ of theθεοῦ Godἐστίν; is?ὃς Whoἐὰν if everοὖν thereforeβουληθῇ should wishφίλος friendεἶναι to beτοῦ of theκόσμου, world,ἐχθρὸς enemyτοῦ of theθεοῦ Godκαθίσταται. is putting self down. 5  ἢ Orδοκεῖτε are YOU thinkingὅτι thatκενῶς emptilyἡ theγραφὴ scriptureλέγει is sayingΠρὸς Towardφθόνον envyἐπιποθεῖ is longingτὸ theπνεῦμα spiritὃ whichκατῴκισεν dwelt downἐν inἡμῖν; us? 6  μείζονα Greaterδὲ butδίδωσιν he is givingχάριν· undeserved kindness;διὸ through whichλέγει it is sayingὉ Theθεὸς Godὑπερηφάνοις to superior appearing (ones)ἀντιτάσσεται is ranging self againstταπεινοῖς to lowly (ones)δὲ butδίδωσιν he is givingχάριν. undeserved kindness. 7  Ὑποτάγητε Be YOU subjectedοὖν thereforeτῷ to theθεῷ· God;ἀντίστητε stand YOU againstδὲ butτῷ to theδιαβόλῳ, Devil,καὶ andφεύξεται he will fleeἀφ’ fromὑμῶν· YOU; 8  ἐγγίσατε draw YOU nearτῷ to theθεῷ, God,καὶ andἐγγίσει he will draw nearὑμῖν. to YOU.καθαρίσατε Cleanse YOUχεῖρας, hands,ἁμαρτωλοί, sinners,καὶ andἁγνίσατε purify YOUκαρδίας, hearts,δίψυχοι. two-souled (ones). 9  ταλαιπωρήσατε Be YOU affected with miseryκαὶ andπενθήσατε mourn YOUκαὶ andκλαύσατε· weep YOU;ὁ theγέλως laughterὑμῶν of YOUεἰς intoπένθος mourningμετατραπήτω let it be turned acrossκαὶ andἡ theχαρὰ joyεἰς intoκατήφειαν· looking downcast; 10  ταπεινώθητε be YOU made lowlyἐνώπιον in sightΚυρίου, of Lord,καὶ andὑψώσει he will put high upὑμᾶς. YOU. 11  Μὴ Notκαταλαλεῖτε be YOU speaking downἀλλήλων, of one another,ἀδελφοί· brothers;ὁ the (one)καταλαλῶν speaking downἀδελφοῦ of brotherἢ orκρίνων judgingτὸν theἀδελφὸν brotherαὐτοῦ of himκαταλαλεῖ he is speaking downνόμου of lawκαὶ andκρίνει he is judgingνόμον· law;εἰ ifδὲ butνόμον lawκρίνεις, you are judging,οὐκ notεἶ you areποιητὴς doerνόμου of lawἀλλὰ butκριτής. judge. 12  εἷς Oneἔστιν isνομοθέτης law-putterκαὶ andκριτής, judge,ὁ the (one)δυνάμενος being ableσῶσαι to saveκαὶ andἀπολέσαι· to destroy;σὺ youδὲ butτίς whoεἶ, are you,ὁ the (one)κρίνων judgingτὸν theπλησίον; neighbor? 13  Ἄγε Be goingνῦν nowοἱ the (ones)λέγοντες sayingΣήμερον Todayἢ orαὔριον tomorrowπορευσόμεθα we will go our wayεἰς intoτήνδε the-butτὴν theπόλιν cityκαὶ andποιήσομεν we shall doἐκεῖ thereἐνιαυτὸν yearκαὶ andἐμπορευσόμεθα we shall be going way inκαὶ andκερδήσομεν· we shall make gain; 14  οἵτινες whoοὐκ notἐπίστασθε YOU are knowingτῆς of theαὔριον tomorrowποία of what sortἡ theζωὴ lifeὑμῶν· of YOU;ἀτμὶς mistγάρ forἐστε YOU areπρὸς towardὀλίγον little [time]φαινομένη, appearing,ἔπειτα thereuponκαὶ alsoἀφανιζομένη· disappearing; 15  ἀντὶ instead ofτοῦ theλέγειν to be sayingὑμᾶς YOU᾿Εὰν If everὁ theκύριος Lordθέλῃ, may be willing,καὶ alsoζήσομεν we shall liveκαὶ andποιήσομεν we shall doτοῦτο thisἢ orἐκεῖνο. that. 16  νῦν Nowδὲ butκαυχᾶσθε YOU are boastingἐν inταῖς theἀλαζονίαις self-assumptionsὑμῶν· of YOU;πᾶσα everyκαύχησις boastingτοιαύτη suchπονηρά wickedἐστιν. is. 17  εἰδότι To (one) having knownοὖν thereforeκαλὸν fineποιεῖν to be doingκαὶ andμὴ notποιοῦντι, to (one) doing,ἁμαρτία sinαὐτῷ to himἐστίν. it is.
