James 5:1-20

5  Ἄγε Be goingνῦν nowοἱ theπλούσιοι, rich (ones),κλαύσατε weep YOUὀλολύζοντες howlingἐπὶ uponταῖς theταλαιπωρίαις miseriesὑμῶν of YOUταῖς to theἐπερχομέναις. (ones) coming upon. 2  ὁ Theπλοῦτος richesὑμῶν of YOUσέσηπεν, has rotted,καὶ andτὰ theἱμάτια outer garmentsὑμῶν of YOUσητόβρωτα moth-eatenγέγονεν, it has become, 3  ὁ theχρυσὸς goldὑμῶν of YOUκαὶ andὁ theἄργυρος silverκατίωται, has been rusted down,καὶ andὁ theἰὸς rustαὐτῶν of themεἰς intoμαρτύριον witnessὑμῖν to YOUἔσται will beκαὶ andφάγεται it will eatτὰς theσάρκας fleshesὑμῶν· of YOU;ὡς asπῦρ fireἐθησαυρίσατε YOU treasured upἐν inἐσχάταις lastἡμέραις. days. 4  ἰδοὺ Look!ὁ Theμισθὸς wagesτῶν of theἐργατῶν workersτῶν the (ones)ἀμησάντων having reapedτὰς theχώρας land areasὑμῶν of YOUὁ the [wages]ἀφυστερημένος having been made behind fromἀφ’ fromὑμῶν YOUκράζει, is crying out,καὶ andαἱ theβοαὶ loud criesτῶν of the (ones)θερισάντων having harvestedεἰς intoτὰ theὦτα earsΚυρίου of LordΣαβαὼθ Sabaothεἰσελήλυθαν· they have entered; 5  ἐτρυφήσατε YOU lived in luxuryἐπὶ uponτῆς theγῆς earthκαὶ andἐσπαταλήσατε, YOU behaved voluptuously,ἐθρέψατε YOU nourishedτὰς theκαρδίας heartsὑμῶν of YOUἐν inἡμέρᾳ dayσφαγῆς. of slaughter. 6  κατεδικάσατε, YOU condemned,ἐφονεύσατε YOU murderedτὸν theδίκαιον. righteous (one).οὐκ Notἀντιτάσσεται he is ranging self up againstὑμῖν; YOU? 7  Μακροθυμήσατε Be YOU long in spiritοὖν, therefore,ἀδελφοί, brothers,ἕως untilτῆς theπαρουσίας presenceτοῦ of theκυρίου. Lord.ἰδοὺ Look!ὁ Theγεωργὸς farmerἐκδέχεται is receiving outτὸν theτίμιον preciousκαρπὸν fruitτῆς of theγῆς, earth,μακροθυμῶν being long in spiritἐπ’ uponαὐτῷ itἕως untilλάβῃ he might receiveπρόϊμον earlyκαὶ andὄψιμον. late [rain]. 8  μακροθυμήσατε Be YOU long in spiritκαὶ alsoὑμεῖς, YOU,στηρίξατε make YOU fix firmlyτὰς theκαρδίας heartsὑμῶν, of YOU,ὅτι becauseἡ theπαρουσία presenceτοῦ of theκυρίου Lordἤγγικεν. has drawn near. 9  μὴ Notστενάζετε, YOU be groaning,ἀδελφοί, brothers,κατ’ down onἀλλήλων, one another,ἵνα in order thatμὴ notκριθῆτε· YOU might be judged;ἰδοὺ look!ὁ theκριτὴς judgeπρὸ beforeτῶν theθυρῶν doorsἕστηκεν. has been standing. 10  ὑπόδειγμα Exampleλάβετε, take YOU,ἀδελφοί, brothers,τῆς of theκακοπαθίας suffering of badκαὶ andτῆς of theμακροθυμίας longness of spiritτοὺς theπροφήτας, prophets,οἳ whoἐλάλησαν spokeἐν inτῷ theὀνόματι nameΚυρίου. of Lord. 11  ἰδοὺ Look!μακαρίζομεν We are pronouncing happyτοὺς the (ones)ὑπομείναντας· having remained under;τὴν theὑπομονὴν enduranceἸὼβ of Jobἠκούσατε, YOU heard,καὶ andτὸ theτέλος endΚυρίου of Lordεἴδετε, YOU saw,ὅτι thatπολύσπλαγχνός having much bowelἐστιν isὁ theκύριος Lordκαὶ andοἰκτίρμων. compassionate. 12  Πρὸ Beforeπάντων all (things)δέ, but,ἀδελφοί brothersμου, of me,μὴ notὀμνύετε, be YOU swearing,μήτε neitherτὸν theοὐρανὸν heavenμήτε norτὴν theγῆν earthμήτε norἄλλον otherτινὰ anyὅρκον· oath;ἤτω let it beδὲ butὑμῶν of YOUτό theΝαί Yesναὶ Yesκαὶ andτό theΟὔ Noοὔ, No,ἵνα in order thatμὴ notὑπὸ underκρίσιν judgmentπέσητε. YOU might fall. 13  Κακοπαθεῖ Is suffering badτις anyoneἐν inὑμῖν; YOU?προσευχέσθω· Let him be praying;εὐθυμεῖ is being well in spiritτις; anyone?ψαλλέτω. Let him be singing psalms. 14  ἀσθενεῖ Is being sickτις anyoneἐν inὑμῖν; YOU?προσκαλεσάσθω Let him call toward selfτοὺς theπρεσβυτέρους older menτῆς of theἐκκλησίας, ecclesia,καὶ andπροσευξάσθωσαν let them prayἐπ’ uponαὐτὸν himἀλείψαντες having greasedἐλαίῳ to oilἐν inτῷ theὀνόματι nameτοῦ of theκυρίου· Lord; 15  καὶ andἡ theεὐχὴ prayerτῆς of theπίστεως faithσώσει will saveτὸν the (one)κάμνοντα, being tired,καὶ andἐγερεῖ will raise upαὐτὸν himὁ theκύριος. Lord.κἂν Also if everἁμαρτίας sinsᾖ he may beπεποιηκώς, having done,ἀφεθήσεται it will be let go offαὐτῷ. to him. 16  ἐξομολογεῖσθε Be confessing YOU outοὖν thereforeἀλλήλοις to one anotherτὰς theἁμαρτίας sinsκαὶ andπροσεύχεσθε be YOU prayingὑπὲρ overἀλλήλων, one another,ὅπως so thatἰαθῆτε. YOU might be healed.πολὺ Muchἰσχύει is having strengthδέησις supplicationδικαίου of righteous (one)ἐνεργουμένη. being at work in. 17  Ἠλείας Elijahἄνθρωπος manἦν wasὁμοιοπαθὴς of like passionsἡμῖν, to us,καὶ andπροσευχῇ to prayerπροσηύξατο he prayedτοῦ of theμὴ notβρέξαι, to moisten,καὶ andοὐκ notἔβρεξεν it moistenedἐπὶ uponτῆς theγῆς earthἐνιαυτοὺς yearsτρεῖς threeκαὶ andμῆνας monthsἕξ· six; 18  καὶ andπάλιν againπροσηύξατο, he prayed,καὶ andὁ theοὐρανὸς heavenὑετὸν rainἔδωκεν gaveκαὶ andἡ theγῆ earthἐβλάστησεν sproutedτὸν theκαρπὸν fruitαὐτῆς. of it. 19  ᾿Αδελφοί Brothersμου, of me,ἐάν if everτις anyoneἐν inὑμῖν YOUπλανηθῇ should be made to errἀπὸ fromτῆς theἀληθείας truthκαὶ andἐπιστρέψῃ should turn uponτις anyoneαὐτόν, him, 20  γινώσκετε be YOU knowingὅτι thatὁ the (one)ἐπιστρέψας having turned uponἁμαρτωλὸν sinnerἐκ out ofπλάνης errorὁδοῦ of wayαὐτοῦ of himσώσει will saveψυχὴν soulαὐτοῦ of himἐκ out ofθανάτου deathκαὶ andκαλύψει will coverπλῆθος multitudeἁμαρτιῶν. of sins.
