Luke 15:1-32

15  ῏Ησαν Wereδὲ butαὐτῷ to himἐγγίζοντες drawing nearπάντες allοἱ theτελῶναι tax collectorsκαὶ andοἱ theἁμαρτωλοὶ sinnersἀκούειν to be hearingαὐτοῦ. of him. 2  καὶ Andδιεγόγγυζον were mutteringοἵ theτε andΦαρισαῖοι Phariseesκαὶ andοἱ theγραμματεῖς scribesλέγοντες sayingὅτι thatΟὗτος This (one)ἁμαρτωλοὺς sinnersπροσδέχεται is receiving toward [self]καὶ andσυνεσθίει is eating withαὐτοῖς. them. 3  εἶπεν He saidδὲ butπρὸς towardαὐτοὺς themτὴν theπαραβολὴν parableταύτην thisλέγων saying 4  Τίς Whatἄνθρωπος manἐξ out ofὑμῶν YOUἔχων havingἑκατὸν one hundredπρόβατα sheepκαὶ andἀπολέσας having lostἐξ out ofαὐτῶν themἓν oneοὐ notκαταλείπει is leaving downτὰ theἐνενήκοντα ninety-ἐννέα nineἐν inτῇ theἐρήμῳ desolate [place]καὶ andπορεύεται is goingἐπὶ uponτὸ the (one)ἀπολωλὸς having been lostἕως untilεὕρῃ he might findαὐτό; it? 5  καὶ Andεὑρὼν having foundἐπιτίθησιν he is putting uponἐπὶ uponτοὺς theὤμους shouldersαὐτοῦ of himχαίρων, rejoicing, 6  καὶ andἐλθὼν having comeεἰς intoτὸν theοἶκον houseσυνκαλεῖ he is calling togetherτοὺς theφίλους friendsκαὶ andτοὺς theγείτονας, neighbors,λέγων sayingαὐτοῖς to themΣυνχάρητέ Rejoice withμοι meὅτι becauseεὗρον I foundτὸ theπρόβατόν sheepμου of meτὸ the (one)ἀπολωλός. having been lost. 7  λέγω I am sayingὑμῖν to YOUὅτι thatοὕτως thusχαρὰ joyἐν inτῷ theοὐρανῷ heavenἔσται will beἐπὶ uponἑνὶ oneἁμαρτωλῷ sinnerμετανοοῦντι repentingthanἐπὶ uponἐνενήκοντα ninety-ἐννέα nineδικαίοις righteous (ones)οἵτινες whoοὐ notχρείαν needἔχουσιν are havingμετανοίας. of repentance. 8  Orτίς whatγυνὴ womanδραχμὰς drachmasἔχουσα havingδέκα, ten,ἐὰν if everἀπολέσῃ she should loseδραχμὴν drachmaμίαν, one,οὐχὶ notἅπτει she is lightingλύχνον lampκαὶ andσαροῖ is sweepingτὴν theοἰκίαν houseκαὶ andζητεῖ is seekingἐπιμελῶς carefullyἕως untilοὗ what [time]εὕρῃ; she might find? 9  καὶ Andεὑροῦσα having foundσυνκαλεῖ she is calling togetherτὰς the [women]φίλας friendsκαὶ andγείτονας neighborsλέγουσα sayingΣυνχάρητέ Rejoice YOU withμοι meὅτι becauseεὗρον I foundτὴν theδραχμὴν drachmaἣν whichἀπώλεσα. [means of] living. 13  καὶ Andμετ’ afterοὐ notπολλὰς manyἡμέρας daysσυναγαγὼν having led togetherπάντα all (things)theνεώτερος youngerυἱὸς sonἀπεδήμησεν traveled abroadεἰς intoχώραν countryμακράν, long [way],καὶ andἐκεῖ thereδιεσκόρπισεν he squanderedτὴν theοὐσίαν propertyαὐτοῦ of himζῶν livingἀσώτως. as spendthrift. 14  δαπανήσαντος Having spentδὲ butαὐτοῦ of himπάντα all (things)ἐγένετο came to beλιμὸς famineἰσχυρὰ strongκατὰ down onτὴν theχώραν countryἐκείνην, that,καὶ andαὐτὸς heἤρξατο startedὑστερεῖσθαι. to be in want. 15  καὶ Andπορευθεὶς having goneἐκολλήθη he attached himselfἑνὶ to oneτῶν of theπολιτῶν citizensτῆς of theχώρας countryἐκείνης, that,καὶ andἔπεμψεν he sentαὐτὸν himεἰς intoτοὺς theἀγροὺς fieldsαὐτοῦ of himβόσκειν to be feedingχοίρους· pigs; 16  καὶ andἐπεθύμει he was desiringχορτασθῆναι to be satiatedἐκ out ofτῶν theκερατίων little hornsὧν of whichἤσθιον were eatingοἱ theχοῖροι, pigs,καὶ andοὐδεὶς no oneἐδίδου was givingαὐτῷ. to him. 17  εἰς Intoἑαυτὸν himselfδὲ butἐλθὼν having comeἔφη he saidΠόσοι How manyμίσθιοι hired [men]τοῦ of theπατρός fatherμου of meπερισσεύονται are aboundingἄρτων, of bread [loaves],ἐγὼ Iδὲ butλιμῷ to famineὧδε hereἀπόλλυμαι· I am perishing; 18  ἀναστὰς having risenπορεύσομαι I shall goπρὸς towardτὸν theπατέρα fatherμου of meκαὶ andἐρῶ I shall sayαὐτῷ to himΠάτερ, Father,ἥμαρτον I sinnedεἰς intoτὸν theοὐρανὸν heavenκαὶ andἐνώπιόν in sightσου, of you, 19  οὐκέτι not yetεἰμὶ I amἄξιος worthyκληθῆναι to be calledυἱός sonσου· of you;ποίησόν makeμε meὡς asἕνα oneτῶν of theμισθίων hired [men]σου. of you. 20  Καὶ Andἀναστὰς having risenἦλθεν he cameπρὸς towardτὸν theπατέρα fatherἑαυτοῦ. of himself.ἔτι Yetδὲ butαὐτοῦ of himμακρὰν long [way]ἀπέχοντος having offεἶδεν sawαὐτὸν himtheπατὴρ fatherαὐτοῦ of himκαὶ andἐσπλαγχνίσθη he was moved with pityκαὶ andδραμὼν having runἐπέπεσεν he fellἐπὶ uponτὸν theτράχηλον neckαὐτοῦ of himκαὶ andκατεφίλησεν kissed downαὐτόν. him. 21  εἶπεν Saidδὲ buttheυἱὸς sonαὐτῷ to himΠάτερ, Father,ἥμαρτον I sinnedεἰς intoτὸν theοὐρανὸν heavenκαὶ andἐνώπιόν in sightσου· of you;οὐκέτι not yetεἰμὶ I amἄξιος worthyκληθῆναι to be calledυἱός sonσου. of you.ποίησόν Makeμε meὡς asἕνα oneτῶν of theμισθίων hired [men]σου. of you. 22  εἶπεν Saidδὲ buttheπατὴρ fatherπρὸς towardτοὺς theδούλους slavesαὐτοῦ of himΤαχὺ Quickἐξενέγκατε bring YOU outστολὴν robeτὴν theπρώτην firstκαὶ andἐνδύσατε clothe YOUαὐτόν, him,καὶ andδότε give YOUδακτύλιον ringεἰς intoτὴν theχεῖρα handαὐτοῦ of himκαὶ andὑποδήματα sandalsεἰς intoτοὺς theπόδας, feet, 23  καὶ andφέρετε be bearingτὸν theμόσχον calfτὸν theσιτευτόν, wheat-fed,θύσατε YOU sacrificeκαὶ andφαγόντες having eatenεὐφρανθῶμεν, let us be well-minded, 24  ὅτι becauseοὗτος thistheυἱός sonμου of meνεκρὸς deadἦν wasκαὶ andἀνέζησεν, he came to life again,ἦν he wasἀπολωλὼς having been lostκαὶ andεὑρέθη. was found.Καὶ Andἤρξαντο they startedεὐφραίνεσθαι. to be being well-minded. 25  ἦν Wasδὲ buttheυἱὸς sonαὐτοῦ of himtheπρεσβύτερος olderἐν inἀγρῷ· field;καὶ andὡς asἐρχόμενος comingἤγγισεν he got nearτῇ to theοἰκίᾳ, house,ἤκουσεν he heardσυμφωνίας of music concertκαὶ andχορῶν, of dances, 26  καὶ andπροσκαλεσάμενος having called toward [self]ἕνα oneτῶν of theπαίδων boysἐπυνθάνετο he was inquiringτί whatἂν likelyεἴη might beταῦτα· these (things); 27  the (one)δὲ butεἶπεν saidαὐτῷ to himὅτι thatTheἀδελφός brotherσου of youἥκει, has arrived,καὶ andἔθυσεν sacrificedtheπατήρ fatherσου of youτὸν theμόσχον calfτὸν theσιτευτόν, wheat-fed,ὅτι becauseὑγιαίνοντα being in healthαὐτὸν himἀπέλαβεν. he received back. 28  ὠργίσθη He became wrathfulδὲ butκαὶ andοὐκ notἤθελεν was willingεἰσελθεῖν. to enter.Theδὲ butπατὴρ fatherαὐτοῦ of himἐξελθὼν having come outπαρεκάλει was entreatingαὐτόν. him. 29  The (one)δὲ butἀποκριθεὶς having answeredεἶπεν saidτῷ to theπατρὶ fatherαὐτοῦ of himἸδοὺ Look!τοσαῦτα So manyἔτη yearsδουλεύω I am slavingσοι to youκαὶ andοὐδέποτε neverἐντολήν commandmentσου of youπαρῆλθον, I transgressed,καὶ andἐμοὶ to meοὐδέποτε neverἔδωκας you gaveἔριφον kidἵνα in order thatμετὰ withτῶν theφίλων friendsμου of meεὐφρανθῶ· I might be well-minded; 30  ὅτε whenδὲ buttheυἱός sonσου of youοὗτος thisthe (one)καταφαγών having ate downσου of youτὸν theβίον [means of] livingμετὰ withπορνῶν harlotsἦλθεν, came,ἔθυσας you sacrificedαὐτῷ to himτὸν theσιτευτὸν wheat-fedμόσχον. calf. 31  The (one)δὲ butεἶπεν saidαὐτῷ to himΤέκνον, Child,σὺ youπάντοτε alwaysμετ’ withἐμοῦ meεἶ, are,καὶ andπάντα allτὰ the (things)ἐμὰ mineσά yoursἐστιν· is; 32  εὐφρανθῆναι to be well-mindedδὲ butκαὶ andχαρῆναι to rejoiceἔδει, it was necessary,ὅτι becausetheἀδελφός brotherσου of youοὗτος thisνεκρὸς deadἦν wasκαὶ andἔζησεν, he came to life,καὶ andἀπολωλὼς having been lostκαὶ andεὑρέθη. was found.
