Luke 7:1-50

7  ᾿Επειδὴ Sinceἐπλήρωσεν he completedπάντα allτὰ theῥήματα sayingsαὐτοῦ of himεἰς intoτὰς theἀκοὰς hearingsτοῦ of theλαοῦ, people,εἰσῆλθεν he enteredεἰς intoΚαφαρναούμ. 20  παραγενόμενοι Having come to be alongsideδὲ butπρὸς towardαὐτὸν himοἱ theἄνδρες male personsεἶπαν saidἸωάνης Johntheβαπτιστὴς Baptistἀπέστειλεν sent offἡμᾶς usπρὸς towardσὲ youλέγων sayingΣὺ Youεἶ arethe (one)ἐρχόμενος comingorἄλλον anotherπροσδοκῶμεν; we are expecting? 21  ἐν Inἐκείνῃ thatτῇ theὥρᾳ hourἐθεράπευσεν he curedπολλοὺς manyἀπὸ fromνόσων sicknessesκαὶ andμαστίγων scourgesκαὶ andπνευμάτων spiritsπονηρῶν, wicked,καὶ andτυφλοῖς to blind (ones)πολλοῖς manyἐχαρίσατο he favoredβλέπειν. to be seeing. 22  καὶ Andἀποκριθεὶς having answeredεἶπεν he saidαὐτοῖς to themΠορευθέντες Having gone your wayἀπαγγείλατε report backἸωάνει to Johnwhat (things)εἴδετε YOU sawκαὶ andἠκούσατε· YOU heard;τυφλοὶ blind (ones)ἀναβλέπουσιν, are seeing again,χωλοὶ lame (ones)περιπατοῦσιν, are walking about,λεπροὶ lepersκαθαρίζονται are being cleansedκαὶ andκωφοὶ deaf (ones)ἀκούουσιν, are hearing,νεκροὶ dead (ones)ἐγείρονται, are being raised up,πτωχοὶ poor (ones)εὐαγγελίζονται· are being told the good news; 23  καὶ andμακάριός happyἐστιν he isὃς whoἐὰν if everμὴ notσκανδαλισθῇ might be stumbledἐν inἐμοί. me. 24  ᾿Απελθόντων Having gone offδὲ butτῶν of theἀγγέλων messengersἸωάνου of Johnἤρξατο he startedλέγειν to be sayingπρὸς towardτοὺς theὄχλους crowdsπερὶ aboutἸωάνου JohnΤί Whatἐξήλθατε did YOU go outεἰς intoτὴν theἔρημον desolate [place]θεάσασθαι; to view?κάλαμον Reedὑπὸ byἀνέμου windσαλευόμενον; being shaken? 25  ἀλλὰ Butτί whatἐξήλθατε did YOU go outἰδεῖν; to see?ἄνθρωπον Manἐν inμαλακοῖς softἱματίοις outer garmentsἠμφιεσμένον; having put on about himself?ἰδοὺ Look!οἱ The (ones)ἐν inἱματισμῷ dressἐνδόξῳ splendidκαὶ andτρυφῇ luxuryὑπάρχοντες existingἐν inτοῖς theβασιλείοις kingly housesεἰσίν. are. 26  ἀλλὰ Butτί whatἐξήλθατε did YOU go outἰδεῖν; to see?προφήτην; Prophet?ναί, Yes,λέγω I am sayingὑμῖν, to YOU,καὶ andπερισσότερον (one) more abundantπροφήτου. of prophet. 27  οὗτός This (one)ἐστιν isπερὶ aboutοὗ whomγέγραπται it has been writtenἸδοὺ Look!ἀποστέλλω I am sending offτὸν theἄγγελόν messengerμου of meπρὸ beforeπροσώπου faceσου, of you,ὃς whoκατασκευάσει will prepareτὴν theὁδόν wayσου of youἔμπροσθέν in frontσου. of you. 28  λέγω I am sayingὑμῖν, to YOU,μείζων greaterἐν inγεννητοῖς (ones) generatedγυναικῶν of womenἸωάνου of Johnοὐδεὶς no oneἔστιν· is;theδὲ butμικρότερος smaller oneἐν inτῇ theβασιλείᾳ kingdomτοῦ of theθεοῦ Godμείζων greaterαὐτοῦ of himἐστίν.— is.— 29  Καὶ Andπᾶς alltheλαὸς peopleἀκούσας having heardκαὶ alsoοἱ theτελῶναι tax collectorsἐδικαίωσαν justifiedτὸν theθεόν, God,βαπτισθέντες having been baptizedτὸ theβάπτισμα baptismἸωάνου· of John; 30  οἱ theδὲ butΦαρισαῖοι Phariseesκαὶ andοἱ the (ones)νομικοὶ versed in lawτὴν theβουλὴν counselτοῦ of theθεοῦ Godἠθέτησαν disregardedεἰς intoἑαυτούς, themselves,μὴ notβαπτισθέντες having been baptizedὑπ’ byαὐτοῦ.— him.— 31  Τίνι To which oneοὖν thereforeὁμοιώσω shall I likenτοὺς theἀνθρώπους menτῆς of theγενεᾶς generationταύτης, this,καὶ andτίνι to which oneεἰσὶν are theyὅμοιοι; like?
