Mark 7:1-37

7  Καὶ Andσυνάγονται are being let togetherπρὸς towardαὐτὸν himοἱ theΦαρισαῖοι Phariseesκαί andτινες someτῶν of theγραμματέων scribesἐλθόντες having comeἀπὸ fromἸεροσολύμων Jerusalem 2  καὶ andἰδόντες having seenτινὰς someτῶν of theμαθητῶν disciplesαὐτοῦ of himὅτι thatκοιναῖς to commonχερσίν, hands,τοῦτ’ thisἔστιν isἀνίπτοις, to unwashed (ones),ἐσθίουσιν they are eatingτοὺς theἄρτους. — loaves. — 3  οἱ Theγὰρ forΦαρισαῖοι Phariseesκαὶ andπάντες allοἱ theἸουδαῖοι Jewsἐὰν if everμὴ notπυγμῇ to fistνίψωνται they might washτὰς theχεῖρας handsοὐκ notἐσθίουσιν, they are eating,κρατοῦντες holding fastτὴν theπαράδοσιν traditionτῶν of theπρεσβυτέρων, older men, 4  καὶ andἀπ’ fromἀγορᾶς marketἐὰν if everμὴ notῥαντίσωνται they might sprinkleοὐκ notἐσθίουσιν, they are eating,καὶ andἄλλα other (things)πολλά manyἐστιν iswhichπαρέλαβον they receivedκρατεῖν, to be holding fast,βαπτισμοὺς baptismsποτηρίων of cupsκαὶ andξεστῶν of pitchersκαὶ andχαλκίων.— of copper vessels.— 5  καὶ Andἐπερωτῶσιν are inquiring uponαὐτὸν himοἱ theΦαρισαῖοι Phariseesκαὶ andοἱ theγραμματεῖς scribesΔιὰ Throughτί whatοὐ notπεριπατοῦσιν are walking aboutοἱ theμαθηταί disciplesσου of youκατὰ according toτὴν theπαράδοσιν traditionτῶν of theπρεσβυτέρων, older men,ἀλλὰ butκοιναῖς to commonχερσὶν handsἐσθίουσιν they are eatingτὸν theἄρτον; bread? 6  The (one)δὲ butεἶπεν saidαὐτοῖς to themΚαλῶς Finelyἐπροφήτευσεν prophesiedἨσαίας Isaiahπερὶ aboutὑμῶν YOUτῶν theὑποκριτῶν, hypocrites,ὡς asγέγραπται it has been writtenὅτι thatΟὗτος Thistheλαὸς peopleτοῖς to theχείλεσίν lipsμε meτιμᾷ, is honoring,theδὲ butκαρδία heartαὐτῶν of themπόρρω farἀπέχει is holding offἀπ’ fromἐμοῦ· me; 7  μάτην in vainδὲ butσέβονταί they are reveringμε, me,διδάσκοντες teachingδιδασκαλίας teachingsἐντάλματα commandsἀνθρώπων· of men; 8  ἀφέντες having let go offτὴν theἐντολὴν commandmentτοῦ of theθεοῦ Godκρατεῖτε YOU are holding fastτὴν theπαράδοσιν traditionτῶν of theἀνθρώπων. men. 9  καὶ Andἔλεγεν he was sayingαὐτοῖς to themΚαλῶς Finelyἀθετεῖτε YOU are setting asideτὴν theἐντολὴν commandmentτοῦ of theθεοῦ, God,ἵνα in order thatτὴν theπαράδοσιν traditionὑμῶν of YOUτηρήσητε· YOU might observe; 10  Μωυσῆς Mosesγὰρ forεἶπεν saidΤίμα Be honoringτὸν theπατέρα fatherσου of youκαὶ andτὴν theμητέρα motherσου, of you,καί andThe (one)κακολογῶν saying bad atπατέρα fatherorμητέρα motherθανάτῳ to deathτελευτάτω· let him decrease; 11  ὑμεῖς YOUδὲ butλέγετε are saying᾿Εὰν If everεἴπῃ should sayἄνθρωπος manτῷ to theπατρὶ fatherorτῇ to theμητρί motherΚορβάν, Corban,whichἐστιν isΔῶρον, Gift,whichἐὰν if everἐξ out ofἐμοῦ meὠφεληθῇς, you might be benefited, 12  οὐκέτι not yetἀφίετε YOU are letting go offαὐτὸν himοὐδὲν nothingποιῆσαι to doτῷ to theπατρὶ fatherorτῇ to theμητρί, mother, 13  ἀκυροῦντες [YOU] invalidatingτὸν theλόγον wordτοῦ of theθεοῦ Godτῇ to theπαραδόσει traditionὑμῶν of YOUwhichπαρεδώκατε· YOU gave beside;καὶ andπαρόμοια similar (things)τοιαῦτα suchπολλὰ manyποιεῖτε. YOU are doing. 14  Καὶ Andπροσκαλεσάμενος having called toward himselfπάλιν againτὸν theὄχλον crowdἔλεγεν he was sayingαὐτοῖς to them᾿Ακούσατέ Hear YOUμου of meπάντες allκαὶ andσύνετε. be YOU comprehending. 15  οὐδὲν Nothingἔστιν isἔξωθεν from outsideτοῦ of theἀνθρώπου manεἰσπορευόμενον going its way inεἰς intoαὐτὸν himwhichδύναται is ableκοινῶσαι to make commonαὐτόν· him;ἀλλὰ butτὰ the (things)ἐκ out ofτοῦ theἀνθρώπου manἐκπορευόμενά going their way outἐστιν isτὰ the (things)κοινοῦντα making commonτὸν theἄνθρωπον. man. 16  —— —— 17  Καὶ Andὅτε whenεἰσῆλθεν he enteredεἰς intoοἶκον houseἀπὸ fromτοῦ theὄχλου, crowd,ἐπηρώτων were inquiring uponαὐτὸν himοἱ theμαθηταὶ disciplesαὐτοῦ of himτὴν theπαραβολήν. parable. 18  καὶ Andλέγει he is sayingαὐτοῖς to themΟὕτως Thusκαὶ alsoὑμεῖς YOUἀσύνετοί (ones) without comprehensionἐστε; are?οὐ Notνοεῖτε are YOU awareὅτι thatπᾶν everythingτὸ theἔξωθεν from outsideεἰσπορευόμενον going insideεἰς intoτὸν theἄνθρωπον manοὐ notδύναται is ableαὐτὸν himκοινῶσαι, to make common, 19  ὅτι becauseοὐκ notεἰσπορεύεται it is going its way inαὐτοῦ of himεἰς intoτὴν theκαρδίαν heartἀλλ’ butεἰς intoτὴν theκοιλίαν, cavity,καὶ andεἰς intoτὸν theἀφεδρῶνα sewerἐκπορεύεται;— is going its way out?—καθαρίζων cleansingπάντα allτὰ theβρώματα. eatables. 20  ἔλεγεν He was sayingδὲ butὅτι thatΤὸ The (thing)ἐκ out ofτοῦ theἀνθρώπου manἐκπορευόμενον going outἐκεῖνο that (thing)κοινοῖ makes commonτὸν theἄνθρωπον· man; 21  ἔσωθεν from insideγὰρ forἐκ out ofτῆς theκαρδίας heartτῶν of theἀνθρώπων menοἱ theδιαλογισμοὶ reasoningsοἱ theκακοὶ badἐκπορεύονται, are going out,πορνεῖαι, fornications,κλοπαί, thieveries,φόνοι, murders, 22  μοιχεῖαι, adulteries,πλεονεξίαι, covetings,πονηρίαι, acts of wickedness,δόλος, deceit,ἀσέλγεια, loose conduct,ὀφθαλμὸς eyeπονηρός, wicked,βλασφημία, blasphemy,ὑπερηφανία, haughtiness,ἀφροσύνη· unreasonableness; 23  πάντα allταῦτα theseτὰ theπονηρὰ wicked thingsἔσωθεν from withinἐκπορεύεται is going outκαὶ andκοινοῖ is making commonτὸν theἄνθρωπον. man. 24  ᾿Εκεῖθεν From thereδὲ butἀναστὰς having stood upἀπῆλθεν he went offεἰς intoτὰ theὅρια regionsΤύρου of Tyreκαὶ andΣιδῶνος.
