Romans 6:1-23

6  Τί Whatοὖν thereforeἐροῦμεν; shall we say?ἐπιμένωμεν May we remain uponτῇ theἁμαρτίᾳ, sin,ἵνα in order thattheχάρις undeserved kindnessπλεονάσῃ; might become more? 2  μὴ Notγένοιτο· may it occur;οἵτινες whoἀπεθάνομεν we diedτῇ to theἁμαρτίᾳ, sin,πῶς howἔτι yetζήσομεν shall we liveἐν inαὐτῇ; it? 3  Orἀγνοεῖτε are YOU ignorantὅτι thatὅσοι as many asἐβαπτίσθημεν we were baptizedεἰς intoΧριστὸν ChristἸησοῦν Jesusεἰς intoτὸν theθάνατον deathαὐτοῦ of himἐβαπτίσθημεν; we were baptized? 4  συνετάφημεν We were buried togetherοὖν thereforeαὐτῷ to himδιὰ throughτοῦ theβαπτίσματος baptismεἰς intoτὸν theθάνατον, deathἵνα in order thatὥσπερ as-evenἠγέρθη was raised upΧριστὸς Christἐκ out ofνεκρῶν dead (ones)διὰ throughτῆς theδόξης gloryτοῦ of theπατρός, Father,οὕτως thusκαὶ alsoἡμεῖς weἐν inκαινότητι newnessζωῆς of lifeπεριπατήσωμεν. we should walk. 5  εἰ Ifγὰρ forσύμφυτοι (ones) planted togetherγεγόναμεν we have becomeτῷ to theὁμοιώματι likenessτοῦ of theθανάτου deathαὐτοῦ, of him,ἀλλὰ butκαὶ alsoτῆς of theἀναστάσεως resurrectionἐσόμεθα· we shall be; 6  τοῦτο thisγινώσκοντες knowingὅτι thattheπαλαιὸς oldἡμῶν of usἄνθρωπος manσυνεσταυρώθη, was put on stake together,ἵνα in order thatκαταργηθῇ might be made ineffectiveτὸ theσῶμα bodyτῆς of theἁμαρτίας, sin,τοῦ of theμηκέτι not yetδουλεύειν to be slavingἡμᾶς usτῇ to theἁμαρτίᾳ, sin, 7  the (one)γὰρ forἀποθανὼν having diedδεδικαίωται has been justifiedἀπὸ fromτῆς theἁμαρτίας. sin. 8  εἰ Ifδὲ butἀπεθάνομεν we diedσὺν together withΧριστῷ, Christ,πιστεύομεν we are believingὅτι thatκαὶ alsoσυνζήσομεν we shall live withαὐτῷ· him; 9  εἰδότες having knownὅτι thatΧριστὸς Christἐγερθεὶς having been raised upἐκ out ofνεκρῶν dead (ones)οὐκέτι not yetἀποθνήσκει, he is dying,θάνατος deathαὐτοῦ of himοὐκέτι not yetκυριεύει· is lording over; 10  whichγὰρ forἀπέθανεν, he died,τῇ to theἁμαρτίᾳ sinἀπέθανεν he diedἐφάπαξ· once for all time;whichδὲ butζῇ, he is living,ζῇ he is livingτῷ to theθεῷ. God. 11  οὕτως Thusκαὶ alsoὑμεῖς YOUλογίζεσθε be reckoningἑαυτοὺς selvesεἶναι to beνεκροὺς dead (ones)μὲν indeedτῇ to theἁμαρτίᾳ sinζῶντας (ones) livingδὲ butτῷ to theθεῷ Godἐν inΧριστῷ ChristἸησοῦ. Jesus. 12  Μὴ Notοὖν thereforeβασιλευέτω let be reigningtheἁμαρτία sinἐν inτῷ theθνητῷ mortalὑμῶν of YOUσώματι bodyεἰς intoτὸ theὑπακούειν to be obeyingταῖς to theἐπιθυμίαις desiresαὐτοῦ, of it, 13  μηδὲ neitherπαριστάνετε be YOU presentingτὰ theμέλη membersὑμῶν of YOUὅπλα weaponsἀδικίας of unrighteousnessτῇ to theἁμαρτίᾳ, sin,ἀλλὰ butπαραστήσατε make YOU stand alongsideἑαυτοὺς selvesτῷ to theθεῷ Godὡσεὶ as ifἐκ out ofνεκρῶν dead (ones)ζῶντας livingκαὶ andτὰ theμέλη membersὑμῶν of YOUὅπλα weaponsδικαιοσύνης of righteousnessτῷ to theθεῷ· God; 14  ἁμαρτία sinγὰρ forὑμῶν of YOUοὐ notκυριεύσει, will lord over,οὐ notγάρ forἐστε YOU areὑπὸ underνόμον lawἀλλὰ butὑπὸ underχάριν. undeserved kindness. 15  Τί Whatοὖν; therefore?ἁμαρτήσωμεν Should we sinὅτι becauseοὐκ notἐσμὲν we areὑπὸ underνόμον lawἀλλὰ butὑπὸ underχάριν; undeserved kindness?μὴ Notγένοιτο· may it occur; 16  οὐκ notοἴδατε have YOU knownὅτι thatto whomπαριστάνετε YOU are presentingἑαυτοὺς selvesδούλους slavesεἰς intoὑπακοήν, obedience,δοῦλοί slavesἐστε YOU areto whomὑπακούετε, YOU are obeying,ἤτοι eitherἁμαρτίας of sinεἰς intoθάνατον deathorὑπακοῆς of obedienceεἰς intoδικαιοσύνην; righteousness? 17  χάρις Thanksδὲ butτῷ to theθεῷ Godὅτι thatἦτε YOU wereδοῦλοι slavesτῆς of theἁμαρτίας sinὑπηκούσατε YOU obeyedδὲ butἐκ out ofκαρδίας heartεἰς intoὃν whichπαρεδόθητε YOU were given besideτύπον typeδιδαχῆς, of teaching, 18  ἐλευθερωθέντες having been freedδὲ butἀπὸ fromτῆς theἁμαρτίας sinἐδουλώθητε YOU were enslavedτῇ to theδικαιοσύνῃ· righteousness; 19  ἀνθρώπινον (thing) belonging to manλέγω I am sayingδιὰ throughτὴν theἀσθένειαν weaknessτῆς of theσαρκὸς fleshὑμῶν· of YOU;ὥσπερ as-evenγὰρ forπαρεστήσατε YOU made stand alongsideτὰ theμέλη membersὑμῶν of YOUδοῦλα slavish (things)τῇ to theἀκαθαρσίᾳ uncleannessκαὶ andτῇ to theἀνομίᾳ lawlessnessεἰς intoτὴν theἀνομίαν, lawlessness,οὕτω thusνῦν nowπαραστήσατε make YOU stand alongsideτὰ theμέλη membersὑμῶν of YOUδοῦλα slavish (things)τῇ to theδικαιοσύνῃ righteousnessεἰς intoἁγιασμόν· holiness; 20  ὅτε whenγὰρ forδοῦλοι slavesἦτε YOU wereτῆς of theἁμαρτίας, sin,ἐλεύθεροι freeἦτε YOU wereτῇ to theδικαιοσύνῃ. righteousness. 21  τίνα Whatοὖν thereforeκαρπὸν fruitεἴχετε were YOU havingτότε thenἐφ’ uponοἷς which (things)νῦν nowἐπαισχύνεσθε; YOU are being ashamed?τὸ Theγὰρ forτέλος endἐκείνων of those (things)θάνατος· death; 22  νυνὶ nowδέ, but,ἐλευθερωθέντες having been freedἀπὸ fromτῆς theἁμαρτίας sinδουλωθέντες having been enslavedδὲ butτῷ to theθεῷ, God,ἔχετε YOU are havingτὸν theκαρπὸν fruitὑμῶν of YOUεἰς intoἁγιασμόν, holiness,τὸ theδὲ butτέλος endζωὴν lifeαἰώνιον. everlasting. 23  τὰ Theγὰρ forὀψώνια wagesτῆς of theἁμαρτίας sinθάνατος, death,τὸ theδὲ butχάρισμα gracious giftτοῦ of theθεοῦ Godζωὴ lifeαἰώνιος everlastingἐν inΧριστῷ ChristἸησοῦ Jesusτῷ theκυρίῳ Lordἡμῶν. of us.
