Jehozadak

Jehozadak

(Je·hozʹa·dak) [probably, Jehovah Pronounces Righteous], Jozadak (Joʹza·dak) [shortened form of Jehozadak].

The shorter form is used in Nehemiah, the longer form elsewhere.

Father of High Priest Jeshua (or Joshua). (Ezr 3:2; Hag 1:12; Zec 6:11) Jehozadak was taken into exile after Nebuchadnezzar killed his father, the chief priest Seraiah, and thus through him the high-priestly line was preserved.—1Ch 6:14, 15; 2Ki 25:18-21; Ne 12:26.
