Deadly Storms Batter Mexico

Deadly Storms Batter Mexico

In early to mid-September 2013, Tropical Storms Ingrid and Manuel pounded Mexico with intense rain that set off floods and landslides. In addition to damaging homes and cropland, these storms caused the deaths of at least 80 people. One of Jehovah’s Witnesses was injured during this disaster. Additionally, road closings stranded over 300 Witnesses who were attending a district convention in Chilpancingo, in the state of Guerrero. Those stranded were housed in either the Assembly Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses or the homes of local Witnesses. Representatives from the Mexico branch office of Jehovah’s Witnesses continue working with traveling ministers and relief committees composed of Witness elders to evaluate and care for the immediate needs of those affected by these storms.
