UPDATE | Russian Court of Cassation Denies Appeal

In his final statement to the court, Brother Tokarev courageously stated: “In the context of this criminal case, law enforcement officials have in effect told me: ‘Either you renounce your faith, or . . . you will be publicly and harshly punished.’ . . . Your Honor, I said at the first day of my trial and I’ll say it again now, I cannot renounce my faith in God. . . . Of course, the threat of jail or even death is for me, as for any one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, a cause for fear and the label of an extremist is a public and unreasonable stain on my name. At the same time, your Honor, I cannot abandon God and thus lose his love.”
