Russian Court Refuses to Grant Brother Bazhenov Early Release

On October 28, 2020, the Dimitrovgrad City Court of the Ulyanovsk Region refused to grant Brother Konstantin Bazhenov early release and replace the remainder of his prison term with a fine. He has ten days to appeal.

When he was first sent to pretrial detention in June 2018, Brother Bazhenov was understandably afraid. However, he started a notebook of Bible verses. He was able to compile about 500 verses from memory. Eventually, he acquired a Bible and read it in four months. Brother Bazhenov wrote letters to share encouraging thoughts from the Bible. He also sang Kingdom songs and constantly supplicated Jehovah for help.

Brother Bazhenov spent over 340 days in pretrial detention. After being convicted and sentenced to three and a half years in prison in September 2019, he continued his spiritual routine. Thanks to Jehovah, Brother Bazhenov was able to observe the Memorial while in prison. By remaining close to Jehovah, Brother Bazhenov has been able to endure persecution with joy. May we keep Brother Bazhenov in our prayers.
