UPDATE—BROTHER IMPRISONED | Brother Aleksey Khabarov Finds Courage Through Prayer and Reliance on God’s Word
On October 20, 2023, the Porkhovskiy District Court of the Pskov Region convicted Brother Aleksey Khabarov and sentenced him to two years and six months in prison. The conviction came after the prosecutor appealed the earlier acquittal. This was the third time Brother Khabarov faced trial. He was taken into custody from the courtroom.
On June 27, 2022, the Porkhovskiy District Court of the Pskov Region found Brother Aleksey Khabarov not guilty. He was acquitted of all criminal charges.
Time Line
On November 26, 2021, the Pskov Regional Court considered Aleksey’s appeal. The case was returned to the original court to be heard by a different judge. He is not required to go to prison at this time

Aleksey made a written appeal to the Ombudsman for Human Rights in the Pskov Region. Aleksey asserted that he is not a criminal but, rather, an honest believer. The ombudsman responded with an affirmation of Aleksey’s right to believe and practice his faith
