UPDATE—CONVICTION OVERTURNED | Father of Two Threatened With 15 Years in Prison for His Faith
On January 11, 2024, the Regional Court of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area—Yugra overturned Brother Andrey Sazonov’s conviction. His case will now be returned to the Uray City Court of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area—Yugra for retrial.
Time Line
On December 24, 2021, the Uray City Court of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area—Yugra convicted Brother Andrey Sazonov and fined him 500,000 rubles ($6,785 U.S.). He had been facing a 15-year prison sentence. While we are disappointed that our brother was convicted, we are happy that he will not have to go to prison
