Download and Manage Publications—Windows
There are hundreds of books, brochures, tracts, and videos that you can read and watch offline in JW Library.
Follow these instructions to download and manage publications:
Download a Publication
You can download as many publications as you would like for reading and studying offline.
In the bar at the top of the screen, tap Publications and then tap By Type to show the list of publications.
Open the App Commands bar, then tap the Languages button for a list of all languages that have publications available. Select the language that you want to see. Languages that you use most often are at the top of the list. You can also search the list by typing the name of a language.
There are a few different ways to find publications in JW Library.
The By Type section shows publications in the language that you are browsing, grouped by types such as Books, Tracts, or Videos. Tapping some types will give you additional options to choose from, such as The Watchtower by year or categories of Videos. Tap All Types to go back to the top of the list.
The What’s New section shows publications that have been released recently in the language that you are browsing.
Publications that you have not yet downloaded are marked with a cloud icon. Tap a publication to download it. Once the publication is downloaded to your device, the cloud icon disappears. Tap the publication again to read it.
The Downloaded section shows all publications that you have downloaded in any language. You can sort this list by Frequently Used, Rarely Used, or Largest Size.
Delete a Publication
You can delete a publication if you no longer need it, or if you need to free up storage space.
In the bar at the top of the screen, tap Publications, then tap By Type to show the list of publications. Touch and hold a publication to select it. Tap Delete in the App Commands bar, then confirm that you want to delete the publication.
If you need to free up storage space, you can delete publications that you rarely use or that are very large. Tap Publications, then tap Downloaded and sort the list by Rarely Used or Largest Size. Delete the publications you no longer need.
Get Updates for a Publication
From time to time, an update may become available for a publication that you have downloaded.
A publication that has been updated is marked with a refresh icon. When you tap the publication, you will see a message that an update is available. Tap Download to get the update, or tap Later to continue reading the version you already have.
To see if any of your downloaded publications have updates, tap Publications. If there are any updates available, a Pending Updates button is shown. Tap it to see a list of all pending updates. Tap a publication to update it, or tap the Update All button to download all available updates.
These features were released in March 2015 with JW Library 1.4, which is compatible with Windows 8.1 or later. If you don’t see these features, please follow the instructions in the article “Start Using JW Library—Windows,” under Get the Latest Features.
