Find Content in a Different Language

If you are learning a language or you would like to share information from jw.org with someone who speaks a different language, use one of the three methods described below to find content in the language you are interested in.

Switch the site to a different language

Click the Languages button to display a complete list of the languages available on jw.org.

Each language in the list has one of the following icons to the left of the name:

  • The website, or at least a portion of it, has been translated into this language. Select the language name to make it your site language.

  • The site has not yet been translated into this language, but publications are available for download. Select the language name to see a list of available publications.

  • This icon indicates a sign language. Most sign-language content is in video format.

Click the Display Sign Languages Only checkbox to limit the list to sign languages only.

Since there are hundreds of language names in the list, use one of the following methods to find your desired language more easily:

  • Select a favorite language: The four languages you have selected most recently are shown at the top of the list.

  • Type the language name: Type a few characters of the language name, either in your language or in the target language. For example, if your site language is English and you want to switch to German, you can type “German” or “Deutsch.” As you type each character, the list is limited to the language names that match what you have typed.

Display a web page in a different language

Method 1: Use this method on pages that have a Read in drop-down list.

Navigate to the article that you want to read or to share with someone. Then select a language from the Read in drop-down list to display the article in that language. (If the language you are looking for is not included in the Read in drop-down list, this indicates that the article is not yet published in that language.)

Tip: In the Read in drop-down list, an audio icon to the left of a language name indicates that an audio recording of the article is available in that language.

When you display an article in a different language using the Read in drop-down list, only that article displays in the target language. The rest of the site displays in your original language.

Method 2: If the article you are reading does not have a Read in drop-down list, click the Languages button to switch the site to the language you are interested in. If the article you are reading is available in the language you selected, it will display. Otherwise, you will be taken to the home page in the language you selected.

Find a publication in a different language

Go to LIBRARY. Select a language from the Languages drop-down list.

Since there are hundreds of languages in the list, you may find it helpful to click the Languages drop-down list, then start typing the language name to limit the list to languages that match what you type.

If many publication types are available in the language you select, the LIBRARY page shows only a limited number of them. To find all of the publications in your selected language, go to one of the publication-type pages (for example, BOOKS & BROCHURES or MAGAZINES) to list available publications of that type in the selected language.

If no publications of that type are available in the selected language, the page displays links to the publication types that are available.
