21  “ye mere nyay-siddhaant hain jo tujhe logon ko batane hain:+  agar tum kisi ibri daas ko khareedte ho+ to woh chhe saal tak tumhari seva karega. magar saatvein saal woh koi keemat chukaye bagair aazad ho jaayega.+  agar woh akela aaya hai to akela aazad kiya jaayega. lekin agar woh shaadishuda hai to uske aazad hone par uski patni bhi uske saath jaaye.  agar ek maalik apne daas ki shaadi karvata hai aur us daas ke bete-betiyaan hote hain, to aazad hone par woh daas akela hi chhootega. uski patni aur bachche maalik ke ho jaayenge.+  lekin agar daas jaane se inkar kar de aur kahe, ‘main apne maalik se aur apne beevi-bachchon se bahot pyar karta hoon isliye main aazad nahin hona chahta,’+  to maalik ko chahiye ki woh daas ko darvaze ya chaukhat ke paas le jaaye aur ek suye se uska kaan chhed de. sachcha parmeshvar iska gavah hoga* aur woh daas zindagi-bhar ke liye apne maalik ka ho jaayega.  agar koi aadmi apni beti ko daasi hone ke liye bech deta hai, to woh daasi us tarah aazad nahin ki jaayegi, jis tarah ek daas aazad kiya jaata hai.  agar daasi ka maalik usse khush nahin hai aur use apni up-patni nahin banata to woh use kisi aur ko bech sakta hai. magar maalik ko use kisi pardesi ke haath bechne ka hak nahin hai, kyonki usne daasi ke saath anyay kiya hai.  agar ek maalik apni daasi ki shaadi apne bete se karata hai, to use chahiye ki daasi ko woh saare hak de jo ek beti ko diye jaate hain. 10  agar woh doosri shaadi karta hai, to use chahiye ki woh apni pehali patni ke khaane-pehanne ki zaroortein poori kare aur uska patni hone ka hak*+ na maare. 11  agar woh uski ye teenon zaroortein poori nahin karta, to woh aurat koi keemat chukaye bagair aazad hokar chali jaaye. 12  agar koi kisi aadmi par aisa vaar karta hai ki woh mar jaata hai, to us gunahgar ko maut ki saza di jaani chahiye.+ 13  lekin agar usse yah anjane mein hua hai aur sachche parmeshvar ne ise hone diya hai, to main uske liye aisi jagah thehraunga jahaan woh bhaagkar jaa sakta hai.+ 14  agar ek aadmi apne sangi-saathi se bahot gussa ho jaata hai aur jaanboojhkar uska katla kar deta hai,+ to woh kaatil maar daala jaaye. chahe woh bachav ke liye meri vedi ke paas aaye, to bhi tum use vahaan se door le jaakaar maar daalna.+ 15  jo koi apne pita ya apni maa par haath uthata hai, use maut ki saza di jaaye.+ 16  agar koi kisi aadmi ko agva karke+ use bech deta hai ya agva kiya gaya aadmi uske kabze mein paaya jaata hai,+ to woh gunahgar maar daala jaaye.+ 17  jo apne pita ya apni maa ko shaap deta hai use maar daala jaaye.+ 18  agar do aadmi aapas mein jhagadte hain aur ek aadmi patthar se doosre par vaar karta hai ya use ghoonsa* maarta hai aur doosre aadmi ki jaan to bach jaati hai magar woh ghaayal hokar bistar pakad leta hai, to aise maamle mein yah kiya jaana chahiye: 19  agar kuch vakt baad woh bistar se uthkar laathi ke sahare ghar ke baahar chal-fir sakta hai, to jisne use maara tha woh saza se bach jaayega, use sirf muavza dena hoga. ghaayal aadmi ko kaam par na jaane ki vajah se jitne din ka nuksan hota hai utne dinon ka use muavza dena hoga. use tab tak aisa karna hoga jab tak ki ghaayal aadmi poori tarah theek nahin ho jaata. 20  agar ek aadmi chhadi se apne daas ya daasi ko maare aur woh uske haathon mar jaaye to maalik se uski jaan ka badla liya jaaye.+ 21  lekin agar woh ek-do din tak zinda rahe to maalik se uski jaan ka badla na liya jaaye, kyonki woh maalik ki khareedi hui sampatti hai. 22  agar do aadmiyon ke beech haathapai ho jaati hai aur woh ladte-ladte kisi garbhvati aurat ko ghaayal kar dete hain aur samay se pehale uska bachcha ho jaata hai,+ magar maa aur bachche ki jaan bach jaati hai,* to gunahgar ko nuksan ki bharpai karni hogi. us aurat ka pati maang karega ki kitni bharpai ki jaaye aur fir nyayi jo faisla kareinge, uske mutabik gunahgar ko bharpai karni hogi.+ 23  lekin agar maa ya bachche ki maut ho jaati hai, to uski jaan ke badle gunahgar ki jaan li jaaye.+ 24  ya agar gehri chot lagti hai to uske liye bhi gunahgar se barbar ka badla liya jaaye, aankh ke badle aankh, daant ke badle daant, haath ke badle haath, pair ke badle pair,+ 25  jalane ke badle jalana, ghaav ke badle ghaav aur maar ke badle maar. 26  agar ek aadmi apne daas ya daasi ki aankh par aisa maarta hai ki uski aankh fut jaati hai, to use muavze ke taur par apne daas ya daasi ko aazad karna hoga.+ 27  agar woh apne daas ya daasi ka daant tod deta hai, to use muavze ke taur par apne daas ya daasi ko aazad karna hoga. 28  agar ek bail kisi aadmi ya aurat ko sing maarta hai jisse woh mar jaata hai, to us bail ko pattharon se maar daala jaaye.+ aise bail ka maans khaana mana hai. bail ke maalik ko koi saza na di jaaye. 29  lekin agar ek bail pehale se sing maarta raha hai aur uske maalik ko aagah karne par bhi usne use baandhkar nahin rakha aur us bail ke sing maarne se kisi aadmi ya aurat ki maut ho jaati hai, to us bail ko pattharon se maar daala jaaye aur uske maalik ko bhi maut ki saza di jaaye. 30  agar maalik se firauti* ki maang ki jaaye, to use apni jaan chhudane ke liye utni rakam ada karni hogi jitni usse maang ki jaati hai. 31  agar ek bail kisi ke bete ya beti ko sing maarta hai, to isi nyay-siddhaant ke mutabik bail ke maalik ka faisla kiya jaana chahiye. 32  agar ek bail kisi daas ya daasi ko sing maarta hai to bail ka maalik us daas ya daasi ke maalik ko 30 shekel* dega. aur bail ko pattharon se maar daala jaayega. 33  agar ek aadmi koi gaddha kholkar chhod deta hai ya fir gaddha khodkar use dhakta nahin aur usmein kisi ka bail ya gadha gir jaata hai 34  aur mar jaata hai, to us aadmi ko nuksan ki bharpai karni hogi.+ use jaanvar ke maalik ko uski keemat ada karni hogi aur mara hua jaanvar uska ho jaayega. 35  agar ek aadmi ka bail kisi doosre aadmi ke bail ko maarta hai aur woh bail mar jaata hai, to unhein zinda bail ko bech dena chahiye aur milnevali rakam aapas mein baant leni chahiye. aur mare huye jaanvar ko bhi aapas mein baant lena chahiye. 36  lekin agar yah baat sabko pata thi ki uska bail sing maarta hai, fir bhi maalik ne use baandhkar nahin rakha aur uska bail doosre ke bail ko maar daalta hai, to use muavze mein bail ke badle bail dena hoga aur mara hua bail uska ho jaayega.”
