I wuz born in Paddington, one supa crowded part of London. I wen live wit my madda an my three olda sistas. My fadda had one problem wit suckin um up plenny, an so he no wuz always dea fo us.

From wen I wuz small kid, my madda wen teach me fo pray ery nite. I had one small Bible dat had ony da book of Songs inside um, an I wen make up music so dat I could sing um. I wen rememba sometin dat one of da books in school wen tell: dat ‘someday not goin have one tomorrow’. Ho I no could sleep tinkin about wat goin happen bumbye. I wen tink ‘gotta get moa to life den dis. How come I hea?’ I neva like mahke!

I wanted fo know moa about magic an all da spirit kine stuff. Me an my school frens, we wen watch scary kine movies, we would go graveyards, an I would even try talk to da mahke guys. We thought wuz spooky, but same time good fun.

By da time I was 10 years ol, I started fo get outa control awready. I started smokin cigarettes an ony fas I came addicted to um. An den I started fo smoke pakalolo. By 11 years ol I wuz drinkin. Even tho I neva like how da ting taste, I wen like gettin ripped. Cuz I wen love music an dancin, weneva had chance I would go parties an clubs. I used to sneak out nite time an sneak back in mornin time. I would be all wipe out, so I would cut school all da time. An wen I did go school, I would drink ova dea too.

My las year of school my grades wuz so junk. My madda neva know all da bad stuff I wuz doin, so wen she wen see my grades she wuz all nuha wit me. We wen get into one big beef an I wen run away. I wen go stay wit my Rastafarian boyfren, Tony. He would sell drugs an do odda illegal kine stuff, an he had one rep fo bein supa nutz an violent. Fas I wen come hapai, an wen I wuz 16 years ol I wen have one bebe boy.

Da govament wen give me one room at one place fo single maddas an dea keki. Wen I wuz livin ova dea, dass wen I wen firs meet Witnesses Fo Jehovah. Two sistas would come all da time fo visit da maddas ova dea. One day I wen go jump in wen dey wuz talkin story cuz I wanted fo prove dem wrong. But dey wen ansa all my questions in one nice way, straight from da Bible. Dey wen show me so much aloha an I wen love dat. So I wen start fo study wit dem.

I wen learn sometin from da Bible dat wuz one game changer. From small kid time I wuz sked fo die. But den I wen learn wat Jesus tell how da mahke guys goin live one moa time. (John 5:28, 29) An I wen learn dat God get one big heart fo me. (1 From Peter 5:7) Wat wen really touch my heart wuz Jeremiah 29:11, wea God tell “Cuz me, I know da plans dat I stay make fo you guys. I goin make eryting come good fo you guys, an not bad. I goin make good kine stuff happen to you guys bumbye, da good kine stuff you stay wait fo.” I started fo believe dat I COULD live foeva in one paradise.​—Songs Fo God 37:29.

Witnesses Fo Jehovah wen show fo real kine love to me. Wen I had firs go to one of dea meetins, had such one good vibe. Erybody wuz so nice an dey all wen show plenny aloha! (John 13:34, 35) Dat wuz big time diffren from how da local church had make to me. Even wit all da stuff happenin in my life, da Witnesses wen welcome me. Dey wen take kea me plenny. Dey wen spend time wit me an kokua me in all kine ways. I wen feel like I wuz part of one big ohana.

Inside my Bible study, I wen see dat I had fo make changes in my life fo make God happy. Wuz so hard fo me stop smokin cigarettes. I wen even see dat some music wen make me like smoke pakalolo even moa, so I wen stop lissenin to dat kine music. Cuz I neva like get buss anymoa, I wen hemo da parties an clubs cuz iz hard fo not suck um up ova dea. Same time wen I wuz tryin fo do all dis, Tony wuz studyin da Bible wit Witnesses Fo Jehovah too. Wen dey wen ansa all his questions from da Bible, he wen believe wuz da trut too. He wen pull one 180. He wen stop hangin aroun his nutz frens, stop doin illegal kine stuff, an even wen stop smokin pakalolo. We had see dat in order fo make Jehovah happy, we had fo get married. An dis wuz good fo oua boy too. So in 1982, we wen get married.

Dea exampos wen fiyah me up an make me moa strong fo keep goin an no give up. An I had pray to Jehovah plenny fo him no give up on me too. Me an Tony, we wen get baptize az Witnesses Fo Jehovah in July 1982.

We go wit dem an teach odda peopo dat if dey trus Jesus an live da way Jehovah like, dey can live good foeva too.
