LESSON 23

They Promise Jehovah

They Promise Jehovah

The Israelites reach to Mount Sinai about two months after they left Egypt, and they build their camp there. Jehovah call Moses to go up to the mountain, and tell him say: ‘I save the Israelite dem. If they obey me and keep my law dem, they will be my special people.’ Moses come down from the mountain and tell the Israelite dem the thing Jehovah say. How the Israelite dem answer? They say: ‘We will do everything that Jehovah tell us to do.’

Moses go back on the mountain. Then Jehovah tell him say: ‘In three days, I will talk with you. Warn the people to not try to come up on Mount Sinai.’ Moses go back down and tell the Israelite dem to get ready to hear from Jehovah.

Three days later, the Israelite dem see lightning flashing and dark cloud on the mountain. They also hear heavy thunder and horn sound. Then Jehovah come down on the mountain in fire. The Israelite dem wor too scare and they wor trembling. The whole mountain wor shaking bad way and it wor cover with so-so smoke. And the sound from the horn wor getting loud and loud. Then God say: ‘My name Jehovah. You must not worship any other gods.’

Moses go back on the mountain, and Jehovah give him laws for the Israelite dem about how they must worship God and how they must behave. Moses write the law dem and he read it to the Israelites. Then they promise Jehovah and say: ‘We will do everything that Jehovah tell us to do.’ That true, they promise God. But you think they will do what they promise?
