Joshua and the Gibeonites

Joshua and the Gibeonites

The news about Jericho spread to other nations in Canaan. Their king dem decide to come together to fight the Israelite dem. But the Gibeonites come up with different plan. They wear tear-tear clothes and go to Joshua and tell him say: ‘We come from far place. We hear about Jehovah and all the thing dem he do for yor in Egypt and Moab. When yor promise us that yor will not fight us, we will serve yor.’

Joshua believe them and agree that he will not fight them. Three days later, he find out that they not come from far place. They come from Canaan. Joshua ask the Gibeonites: ‘Why yor lie to us?’ Then they say: ‘We wor scare! We know that yor God Jehovah fighting for yor. Please don’t kill us.’ Joshua keep his promise and he let them live.

It not stay long, five Canaanite kings and their army dem start threatening the Gibeonites. Joshua and his army march the whole night to save them. Then they start fighting soon in the morning. The Canaanites started running all over. Anywhere they go, Jehovah will send hailstones on them. Then Joshua ask Jehovah to make the sun to not go down. Why he ask Jehovah for the sun to not go down, even though it not happen before? Because Joshua trust in Jehovah. And the sun not go down the whole day until the Israelites defeat the Canaanite kings and their army dem.
