“Let us also throw off every weight . . . , and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.”—HEB. 12:1.

SONG 33 Throw Your Burden on Jehovah

WETIN WE COMING LEARN? a

1. According to Hebrews 12:1, wetin we must do to finish the race for life?

THE Bible compare our Christian life to running race. The people that will finish the race will get everlasting life. (2 Tim. 4:7, 8) We must do our best to continue running because we very close to the finish line. The apostle Paul who finish his race for life, tell us what we must do to win the race. He say we must “throw off every weight and . . . run with endurance the race that is set before us.”—Read Hebrews 12:1.

2. What it mean to “throw off every weight”?

2 When Paul say that we must “throw off every weight,” you think he mean that we must not carry anything? No. But, he mean we must stop carrying any load that we not need to carry. This type of load them can make it hard for us to run and they can make us tire. To continue running, we must be quick to notice anything that we not need to carry and leave them behind. At the same time, we must not leave the load them that we suppose to carry. If we stop carrying this load them, we will not be qualify to stay in the race for life. (2 Tim. 2:5) What the load them we must carry?

3. (a) According to Galatians 6:5, wetin we must carry? (b) Wetin we will talk about in this article, and why?

3 Read Galatians 6:5. Paul talk about something that we must carry. He say that “each one will carry his own load.” Here Paul was talking about what God want us to do to serve him, and nobody can do it for us. In this article, we will talk about some thing them that part of our “own load” and how we can carry them. Also, if we carrying any load that we not need to carry, we will know them and learn how to stop carrying them. When we carry our own load and stop carrying the load them that we not need to carry, it will help us to finish the race for life.

THE LOAD THEM WE MUST CARRY

Some of our own load them we get to carry that the promise we made to serve Jehovah forever, the part we get to play in the family, and how we must take the blame for the decision them we can make (See paragraphs 4-9

4. Why it not too hard to keep the promise we made to serve Jehovah? (Also see the picture.)

4 The promise we made to serve Jehovah forever. When we gave our life to Jehovah, we told him that we will worship him and do his will. We must do what we promise. To keep our promise to Jehovah that serious responsibility. But it not too hard for us to do it, because Jehovah made us to do his will. (Rev. 4:11) He made us with the desire to know and worship him and he made us in his image. Because of that, we able to get close to him and be happy to do his will. (Ps. 40:8) Also, when we do God will and follow his Son example, we “find refreshment” for ourselves.—Matt. 11:28-30.

(See paragraphs 4-5)

5. Wetin will help you to fulfill your promise to serve Jehovah? (1 John 5:3)

5 How you can carry this load? Two things can help you. First, continue to make your love for Jehovah strong. You can do it by thinking on all the good-good thing them Jehovah na do for you and the blessings he will give you in the future. The more your love for God get strong, that the more it will be easy for you to obey him. (Read 1 John 5:3.) Second, follow Jesus example. He was able to do God will because he pray to Jehovah for help and he focus on the blessing he will get in the future. (Heb. 5:7; 12:2) Just like Jesus, pray to Jehovah for strength and continue focusing on the hope to live forever. When your love for God getting strong and you follow his Son example, it will help you to fulfill the promise you made to serve Jehovah forever.

6. Why we must play our part in the family? (Also see the picture.)

6 The part we get to play in the family. In our race for life, our love for Jehovah and Jesus must be more than the love we get for our relative them. (Matt. 10:37) But it not mean that we must forget about what we suppose to do in the family, just like that it stopping us from making Jehovah and Jesus happy. In fact, for Jehovah and Jesus to be happy with us, we need to play our part in the family. (1 Tim. 5:4, 8) When we do it, we will be more happy. Why? Because, Jehovah know that when husband and wife treat each other with love and respect, parents love and train their children, and children obey their parents, the family will be happy.—Eph. 5:33; 6:1, 4.

(See paragraphs 6-7)

7. How you can do what Jehovah want you to do in the family?

7 How you can carry the load? No matter what part you get to play in the family, trust the wise advice that in the Bible. Don’t just do the thing them that you feel correct, or the thing them you see people doing in your area, or the thing them the book people say. (Prov. 24:3, 4) Use our publication them to make research. They get good-good advice on how to apply Bible principles. For example, the article series “Help for the Family” get good-good information that talk about the problems that marry people, parents, and young people facing today. b Do your best to apply what the Bible says, even if some of your family member not doing it. When you do it, your family will benefit, and Jehovah will bless you.—1 Pet. 3:1, 2.

8. How our decision them can affect us?

8 We responsible for the decisions we make. Jehovah gave us freedom to make decisions, and he want the decisions we make to make us happy. But if we make bad decisions, he will not stop bad things from happening to us. (Gal. 6:7, 8) So we must take the blame for any thing that happen to us because we made bad decisions, say something wrong, or do something wrong. Depending on what we na do, we can really be feeling bad. But when we take the blame for our decisions it will make us to confess our sins, correct our mistake, and try to not make that mistake again. When we do thing them like this it will help us to stay in the race for life.

(See paragraphs 8-9)

9. Wetin you must do if you make bad decision? (Also see the picture.)

9 How you can carry the load? If you na make bad decision, wetin you must do? Remember that you can’t change what happen in the past. So, don’t waste your time and your strength to prove that you were right or try to blame other people for your mistake. Accept your mistakes and try to do what you able to do now-now. If you na do something bad and you really feeling bad about it, bring yourself down and pray to Jehovah. Tell him what you na do and ask him to forgive you. (Ps. 25:11; 51:3, 4) Say sorry to the people them you make to feel bad. And if possible, you can ask the elder them to help you. (Jas. 5:14, 15) Learn from your mistakes, and try to not do them again. When you do it, you can be sure that Jehovah will feel sorry for you and help you.—Ps. 103:8-13.

THE LOAD THEM WE MUST “THROW OFF”

10. Why feeling that we can always do more can be like heavy load? (Galatians 6:4)

10 Expecting too much from yourself. If we compare ourself with other people, it will be like we carrying heavy load. (Read Galatians 6:4.) If we always comparing ourself with other people, it can make us to envy them and to run competition with them. (Gal. 5:26) If we try to do what other people doing, even though we not able to do it, we will just suffer ourself. Also think about this one: The Bible say if we expecting something to happen and it not happen it can really make us to feel bad. (Prov. 13:12) It can even make us to feel bad more if we expecting something that we will never get. If we do it, it will make it hard for us to continue in the race for life.—Prov. 24:10.

11. What can help you to not expect too much from yourself?

11 How you can put that load down? Don’t expect yourself to do more than what Jehovah expect you to do. He can’t expect us to do what we not able to do. (2 Cor. 8:12) Know that Jehovah can’t compare what you can do with what other people can do. (Matt. 25:20-23) He value your whole-soul service, your faithfulness, and your endurance. Be humble and know that you will not be able to do all that you want do now-now because of your age, health or the condition you find yourself in. Like Barzillai, learn to say no if your health or age make it hard for you to do certain assignment. (2 Sam. 19:35, 36) Like Moses, accept help and when it necessary ask other people to help you do some of the work. (Ex. 18:21, 22) When you humble, you will not expect yourself to do things that will make you too tire in your race for life.

12. You think we must blame our self for the bad decisions that other people can make? Explain.

12 Blaming yourself for the bad decisions that other people can make. We can’t make decisions for other people or stop bad things from happening to them because of the bad decision they can make. For example, in case somebody child decide to stop serving Jehovah. That decision can really make the parents to feel bad. But the parent them who can blame their self for the bad decisions their children can make, can be carrying heavy load. That not that kind na load Jehovah expecting them to carry.—Rom. 14:12.

13. What will help parents when their child make bad decision?

13 How you can put that load down? Remember that Jehovah gave everybody free will. He can allow each of us to make our own decisions. Part of this decisions that to serve Jehovah or not. Jehovah know that you not perfect parent. He just want you to do your best. That your child will take the blame for any decision he make, that not you. (Prov. 20:11) Still, maybe you can be worrying about the mistake them you made when you was bringing your child up. If so, tell Jehovah how you feel and ask him to forgive you. He know that you can’t change what happen in the past. And He not expect you to stop bad things from happening to your child because of the bad decision he made. Remember that if your child try hard to come back to Jehovah, Jehovah will be happy to accept him.—Luke 15:18-20.

14. Why feeling guilty all the time that load we must put down?

14 When you feeling guilty all the time. When we sin, it not bad to feel guilty. But Jehovah not want us to continue feeling guilty. That one of the load we need to put down. How we can know that we feeling guilty bad way? If we confess our sin, repent, and try hard to not make this mistake them again, we can be sure that Jehovah will forgive us. (Acts 3:19) After we do this thing them, Jehovah not want us to continue feeling guilty. He know that if we continue feeling like that it will not be good for us. (Ps. 31:10) If we feeling too sad, maybe it will stop us from running in the race for life.—2 Cor. 2:7.

After you repent with your whole heart, Jehovah can’t continue thinking about the mistake them you made. So, don’t be worrying about them too (See paragraph 15)

15. What can help you to not always be feeling guilty? (1 John 3:19, 20) (Also see the picture.)

15 How you can put that load down? If you continue feeling guilty, focus on the “true forgiveness” that God can give. (Ps. 130:4) When Jehovah forgive people who repent from their heart, he promise them: “I will no longer remember their sin.” (Jer. 31:34) This one mean that Jehovah will not hold you responsible for the bad things you did before. So, don’t think that the problem them you going through now-now because of your sin mean that Jehovah not forgive you. And don’t be vex with yourself because maybe you lost some of the privilege you were having in the congregation. Jehovah can’t continue thinking about the mistake them you made. So, don’t be worrying about them too.—Read 1 John 3:19, 20.

RUN TO WIN

16. When we running in this race, wetin we must know?

16 When we running in the race for life, we must “run in such a way that [we] may win it.” (1 Cor. 9:24) We can do it if we know the difference between the load them we must carry and the one them we must put down. In this article, we na talk about some examples about the load them we must carry and the one them we must put down. But that not all here. Jesus say that it possible for us to “become weighed down with overeating and heavy drinking and anxieties of life.” (Luke 21:34) This scripture and other scripture them can help you to see area that maybe you need to improve so that you can continue running in the race for life.

17. Why we can be sure that we will win the race for life?

17 We can be sure that we will win the race for life because Jehovah will give us the strength to do it. (Isa. 40:29-31) So we must not get tire! Follow the example of the apostle Paul, who did his best to win the prize that was before him. (Phil. 3:13, 14) Nobody can run this race for you, but Jehovah can help you to win. Jehovah can help you to carry your load them you suppose to carry and put the other one them down. (Ps. 68:19) With Jehovah on your side, you will be able to run this race, endure it and win!

SONG 65 Move Ahead!

a This article will help us to run the race for life. When we running, that certain load them we need to carry. Some of them that the promise we made to serve Jehovah forever, the part we get to play in the family, and how we responsible for the decision them we can make. But we must not carry any load that we not need because it will make it hard for us to run the race. What some of the load them we must not carry? This article will answer that question.
