You Ready for the Most Important Day in the Year?
“Keep doing this in remembrance of me.”—LUKE 22:19.
WHAT THE MAIN POINT?
See what make the Memorial so special, how we can prepare for it, and how we can help other people to attend.
1. Why the Memorial that the most important day in the year? (Luke 22:19, 20)
THE Memorial of Christ death that the most important day in the year for Jehovah people. The Memorial that the only program Jesus tell his disciples to observe. (Read Luke 22:19, 20.) We can really want for the Memorial to come for different-different reasons. Let talk about some of them.
2. Give some reasons why we can really want the Memorial to come.
2 The Memorial can help us to think on why the ransom important and the blessing them it make possible. It can help us to remember different-different ways we can show that we grateful for Jesus sacrifice. (2 Cor. 5:14, 15) It can also give us the opportunity to have “an interchange of encouragement” with our brother and sister them. (Rom. 1:12) Every year, plenty inactive brother and sister them can attend the Memorial. Because of the love people can show them to the Memorial, it can make some of them to even come back to Jehovah. And plenty of the people we invite can be encourage to serve Jehovah because of what they see and hear to the Memorial. All this one them make the Memorial very special to us!
3. How the Memorial can make us united with our brother and sister them around the world? (Also see the picture.)
3 Just think too, about how the Memorial can make us united with our brother and sister them. When the sun go down, Jehovah Witnesses all around the world can come together for the memorial. All of us can listen to one talk that show how the ransom important. We can sing two songs of praise, pass the bread and the wine, and we can say four different prayers that all of us can say “amen” to with our whole heart. In about 24 hour time, all the congregation them will do the same thing. Just imagine how Jehovah and Jesus can be happy to see all of us around the world praising them like this.
4. Wetin we coming talk about in this article?
4 In this article, we will talk about this question them: How we can prepare our heart for the Memorial? How we can help interested people to benefit from it? And how we can help our brother and sister them who inactive? The answers to this question them will help us to be ready for this very important program.
HOW WE CAN PREPARE OUR HEART FOR THE MEMORIAL?
5. (a) Why we must think on how the ransom really important? (Psalm 49:7, 8) (b) Wetin you learn from the video Why Jesus Die?
5 One of the most important ways we can prepare our heart for the Memorial that by thinking on how Jesus sacrifice really important. On our own, we were not coming be able to free ourselves from sin and death. (Read Psalm 49:7, 8; see also the video Why Jesus Die?) a So when Jehovah arrange for Jesus to die to save us, that big sacrifice two of them made. (Rom. 6:23)The more we think on what Jehovah and Jesus sacrifice for us, that the more we will be grateful for the ransom. We will talk about some of the thing them Jehovah and Jesus were willing to do to provide the ransom. But first, what the ransom mean?
6. What the ransom mean, and why it was important for Jesus to pay the ransom for us?
6 Ransom that the price you can pay to buy something back. The first man, Adam, was perfect when God created him. When he sin, he and all his children lost the hope to live forever. To get back what Adam lost, Jesus sacrifice his perfect life for us. All the time he was on earth, Jesus “committed no sin, nor was deception found in his mouth.” (1 Pet. 2:22) When Jesus die, he was perfect just how Adam was perfect before he sin. So when Jesus sacrifice his perfect life, he was able to pay for the perfect life that Adam lost.—1 Cor. 15:45; 1 Tim. 2:6.
7. What some tests Jesus face when he was on earth?
7 When Jesus was on earth, he obey Jehovah in everything even though he face plenty tests. Even though Jesus was perfect, he use to obey his parent them who was not perfect the time he was small. (Luke 2:51) When he was young boy, he needed to fight hard to not listen to people who wanted him to disobey his parents or to not be faithful to Jehovah. When he was big man, Jesus try hard to not listen to Satan the Devil. Even when Satan tell him to disobey God, Jesus not agree. (Matt. 4:1-11) Satan was really trying hard to make Jesus sin so that he can’t be able to sacrifice his life for us.
8. What other tests Jesus endure?
8 When he was preaching the good news, he bear plenty other tests. His enemies suffer him and try to kill him. (Luke 4:28, 29; 13:31) He needed to bear the mistakes from his disciple them. (Mark 9:33, 34) When his enemies were judging him, they really treat him bad and play fun out of him. Then they kill him like criminal and the pain was too much for him. (Heb. 12:1-3) He endure the last part of his suffering on his own, without Jehovah protecting him. b—Matt. 27:46.
9. How we feel about the sacrifice Jesus made? (1 Peter 1:8)
9 We can see that Jesus really suffer to sacrifice his life for us. When we think about all the sacrifices Jesus was willing to make for us, you not think it must make us to get strong love for him? Read 1 Peter 1:8.
10. What Jehovah sacrifice for Jesus to pay the ransom?
10 How about Jehovah? Wetin Jehovah was willing to sacrifice for Jesus to pay the ransom? Jehovah and Jesus get the closest friendship that can be between father and son. (Prov. 8:30) So just think about how Jehovah was feeling the time he see his son Jesus going through all the suffering on earth. We sure that Jehovah really feel bad to see how the people not accept his son and the way he suffer.
11. Give one example to show how Jehovah was feeling when they kill his son Jesus.
11 Any parent who their child na die, know how it can really hurt when somebody child die from them. We get strong faith in the resurrection, but it can still hurt us when somebody we love die. This example help us to understand how Jehovah was feeling when he saw his Son he love so much suffer and die on that day in 33 C.E. c—Matt. 3:17.
12. Wetin we can do during the weeks before the memorial?
12 From now to the Memorial, try to study more about the ransom in your personal study project or your Family Worship. Use the Research Guide for Jehovah’s Witnesses (if it in your language) or other Bible study material to learn more about the ransom. d Also, make sure to follow the Memorial Bible reading schedule that in The Way Christian Can Live and Preach—Meeting Workbook. And on the Memorial day, don’t forget to watch the special Morning Worship program. When we prepare our own heart for the Memorial, we will be able to help interested people to benefit from it too.—Ezra 7:10.
HELP INTERESTED PEOPLE TO BENEFIT
13. What the first thing we can do to help other people benefit from the Memorial?
13 How we can help other people to benefit from the Memorial? The first thing to do that to invite them. Beside the people we can meet in field service, we can think about some people we want invite. We can invite our relatives, workmates, schoolmates, and other people. Even if we not get plenty hard copy for the invitation, we can still use our phone or tablet to share link for the invitation. Maybe we will be surprise to see plenty people coming to the program!—Eccl. 11:6.
14. Give example that show how it can encourage people when your own self give them invitation.
14 When your own self give somebody invitation, it can really encourage the person to attend. One sister who husband was not Jehovah Witness, was surprise when her husband tell her that he will attend the Memorial with her. Why she was surprise? Because she invited him plenty time before but he never attend the Memorial. Wetin make this other invitation different? He say, “I receive my own invitation.” He say one elder that know him invited him to the program. Her husband attended the Memorial that year and continue to attend it for plenty years after that.
15. Wetin we must remember when we inviting people to the Memorial?
15 We must remember that when we invite people, maybe they will be having questions to ask, especially if they not attend any of our meeting before. So we can think about questions that maybe they will ask and prepare to answer them. (Col. 4:6) For example, maybe some people will be thinking: ‘Wetin will happen to the program?’ ‘How long it will last for?’ ‘They get special clothes to wear?’ ‘I will pay money to enter?’ ‘They will collect offerings?’ When we inviting somebody to the Memorial, we can just ask them, “You get any question?” and answer any question the person will be having. We can also use the videos Remember Jesus Death and What Thing Can to help the person understand how we can do our meetings. And Happen Inside the Kingdom Hall?lesson 28 of the Enjoy Life Now and Forever! book give us plenty good-good points that we can share.
16. What other questions people who attend the Memorial can be having?
16 After they attend the Memorial, interested people will still be having some question them. Maybe they will be thinking why nobody eat the bread or drink the wine or why only few people eat the bread or drink the wine. Also, maybe they will want know the amount of time we can have the memorial. And maybe they will want know if that the same way we can have all our meeting them. Even though during the talk the speaker will explain this thing them, but people who that their first time coming to the memorial will still want learn more. The article on jw.org with the title “Why Do Jehovah’s Witnesses Observe the Lord’s Supper Differently From the Way Other Religions Do?” can help us to answer some of their question them. We want to do our best before, during, and after the Memorial to help people who “rightly disposed” to benefit from this program.—Acts 13:48.
HELP INACTIVE PEOPLE
17. How the elder them can help inactive people? (Ezekiel 34:12, 16)
17 During the Memorial time, how the elder them can help inactive people? Show them that you care about them. (Read Ezekiel 34:12, 16.) If it possible, try to call plenty inactive people before the Memorial. Tell them that you care about them and that you want help them. Invite them to attend the Memorial. If they come, welcome them. After the Memorial, continue to visit or call this brother and sister them, and give them any help they need to come back to Jehovah.—1 Pet. 2:25.
18. How all of us can help inactive people? (Romans 12:10)
18 Everybody in the congregation can help inactive people who come to the Memorial. How? By treating them with love, kindness, and respect. (Read Romans 12:10.) Remember that it was not easy for some of them to come to the meeting again. Maybe they were scare of what people will say to them or about them. e So don’t say ask them question that will make them shame or say something that will make them to feel bad. (1 Thess. 5:11) This brother and sister them that our fellow believers. We happy for all of us to worship together again!—Ps. 119:176; Acts 20:35.
19. What benefits we will get when we remember Jesus death?
19 We grateful that Jesus say we must remember his death every year and we understand why it really important. When we attend the Memorial, we can benefit ourselves and other people in plenty different-different ways. (Isa. 48:17, 18) Our love for Jehovah and Jesus can get strong. We can show how we really grateful for what they na do for us. We can get close to our brother and sister them. And we can help other people learn how they too can enjoy the blessings that the ransom made possible. So yor let do our best to be ready for the Memorial this year, the most important day in the year!
