 YOU na notice that plenty people today can only focus on their self? For example, some people can do anything to go on social media just to boast about their self and the thing dem they doing. But that only small amount of people giving Jehovah honor today. In this article, we will talk about what it mean to give Jehovah honor, and wetin must move us to do it. We will also learn how we can give God the honor that he suppose to get and how Jehovah his self will glorify his name in the future.

WHAT IT MEAN TO GIVE JEHOVAH HONOR?

² What honor mean? In the Bible, the word “honor” can mean anything that make somebody great. Jehovah show that he great right after he free the Israelite dem from Egypt. Just think about what happen: Plenty Israelite dem come together near Mount Sinai to hear what their God Jehovah wor coming tell them. Then dark cloud cover the whole mountain. Right away the ground start shaking, lightning and thunder start firing and horn with heavy sound start blowing all over the place. (Ex. 19:​16-18; 24:17; Ps. 68:8) Just imagine how the  Israelite dem mouth wor full when Jehovah show his power to them.

 3. How we can give honor to Jehovah?

³ But what about we the human being dem? You think we able to give Jehovah honor? Yes, we able to do it. One way to give Jehovah honor that to tell other people about his power and the good-good ways he get. We can also give God honor when we praise him for the thing dem he help us to do. (Isa. 26:12) King David wor one person who set good example when it come to giving Jehovah honor. David pray in front of the congregation and say: “Yours, O Jehovah, are the greatness and the mightiness and the beauty and the splendor and the majesty, for everything in the heavens and on the earth is yours.” After David end his prayer, “all the congregation praised Jehovah.”—1 Chron. 29:​11, 20.

 4. How Jesus give honor to Jehovah?

⁴ When Jesus wor on earth, he gave honor to his Pa by telling other people that Jehovah give him the power to perform miracles. (Mark 5:​18-20) Jesus also give honor to Jehovah by the way he talk about his Pa and the way he use to treat people. One time, Jesus wor teaching in the synagogue. One woman who the demon been giving hard time for 18 years wor there. The demon made her to bent until she wor not even able to stand straight. It wor too sorrowful! Jesus wor feeling sorry for her so he go close to her and tell her say: “Woman, you are released from your weakness.” He put his hands on her, and right away she stand up straight and “began to glorify God,” because she wor alright in her body again! (Luke 13:​10-13) That woman wor having good reason to give honor to Jehovah, and that the same thing with us.

WETIN MUST MOVE US TO GIVE HONOR TO JEHOVAH?

 5. What reasons we get to respect Jehovah?

⁵ We give honor to Jehovah because we really respect him. We get plenty reasons to respect him. Jehovah that the almighty, and nobody get power equal to him. (Ps. 96:​4-7) You can see that he get plenty sense from the thing dem he made. He give us life and the thing dem we need to live. (Rev. 4:11) He loyal. (Rev. 15:4) Everything he do can be successful, and he can always stick to his promise. (Josh. 23:14) That the reason why the prophet Jeremiah say: “Among all the wise ones of the nations and among all their kingdoms, there is no one at all like you”! (Jer. 10:​6, 7) Yes, we get good reasons to respect our Father in heaven. All the thing dem Jehovah na do must make us to respect him and love him.

 6. Why we love Jehovah?

⁶ We give Jehovah honor because we really love him. Let talk about some quality dem Jehovah get that make us to love him. He can show us mercy and feel sorry for us. (Ps. 103:13; Isa. 49:15) When we feeling bad, he can put his self in our shoe. (Zech. 2:8) He make it easy for us to draw close to him and be his friend. (Ps. 25:14; Acts 17:27) And he humble, “he stoops down to look on heaven and earth, raising the lowly from the dust.” (Ps. 113:​6, 7) Ehn all this one dem must move us to give God honor?—Ps. 86:12.

 7. What special opportunity we get?

⁷ We give Jehovah honor because we want other people to know him. Plenty people not know the truth about Jehovah. Why? Because Satan fooling them by talking all kindna lie-lie thing dem about Jehovah.  (2 Cor. 4:4) Satan finish making people to feel that Jehovah can’t forgive, he not care for us, and he making people to suffer. But we know the truth about our God! We get the opportunity to tell people the truth about him and help them to praise him too. (Isa. 43:10) Psalm 96 mainly talking about how we can give honor to Jehovah. When we talking about the thing dem in Psalm 96, think about different-different ways you can give Jehovah the honor he suppose to get.

HOW WE CAN GIVE JEHOVAH THE HONOR THAT HE SUPPOSE TO GET?

 8. What one way we can give Jehovah honor? (Psalm 96:​1-3)

⁸ Read Psalm 96:​1-3. We can give Jehovah honor by what we say about him. This Bible verse dem tell Jehovah people to “sing to Jehovah,” to “praise his name,” to “proclaim the good news of his salvation,” and to “declare his honor among the nations.” That different-different way here we can give honor to our Father in heaven by what we say. Faithful Jews and the Christian dem way back tell other people about Jehovah good-good ways, and all the thing dem he do for them. (Dan. 3:​16-18; Acts 4:29) How we can do the same thing too?

9-10. Wetin you learn from Angelena experience? (Also see the picture.)

⁹ Let talk about one sister they call Angelena, a who living in America. She wor brave to talk about Jehovah good name to her working place. She and other people who just started working there wor invited to one meeting. They ask them to talk about their background. Angelena plan to show some pictures to explain how she happy to be Jehovah Witness. But just before her time to talk, one of her workmate introduce his self and say he grow up around the truth. He start saying some bad-bad things about Jehovah Witnesses. Angelena say: “My heart wor beating. So I tell myself say: ‘I will sit down here and allow somebody to lie on Jehovah name? Or I will be brave to talk the truth about Him?’”

¹⁰ When her workmate finish talking, Angelena pray to Jehovah in her heart. She wor kind and tell him say: “Two of us get the same background. I grow up around the  truth and I still Jehovah Witness.” Even though it wor not easy for Angelena, but she remain calm. She show her workmate dem some pictures of she and her friend dem happy serving Jehovah, and she explain her beliefs with respect. (1 Pet. 3:15) What wor the result? Soon Angelena finish talking, the man calm down. He even start saying some good-good thing dem that he can remember about Jehovah Witnesses when he wor small. Angelena say: “That honor to talk the truth about Jehovah and he deserve it.” We our self too get the honor to praise Jehovah when people be talking lie-lie thing dem about him.

11. How Jehovah people been following what Psalm 96:8 say?

¹¹ Read Psalm 96:8. We can use our material things to give Jehovah honor. Jehovah people always been using their material things to honor him. (Prov. 3:9) For example, the Israelite dem made contribution to build and take care of the temple. (2 Ki. 12:​4, 5; 1 Chron. 29:​3-9) Some of Jesus disciples use their material things to help Jesus and his apostle dem. (Luke 8:​1-3) The Christian dem way back also made contribution to help their brother and sister dem. (Acts 11:​27-29) Today, we our self too can give Jehovah honor by making contribution.

12. How our contribution can bring honor to Jehovah? (Also see the picture.)

¹² Let see one experience that show how our contribution can bring honor to Jehovah. One report in 2020 talk about what happen in Zimbabwe because it not rain for long time. Plenty people almost die from hunger, including one sister they call Prisca. Even though things wor hard, she continue preaching every Wednesday and Friday, even during the farming season. Her neighbor dem use to laugh at her for going field service instead of going on her farm. They use to tell her say, “That hunger will kill you.” Prisca wor sure that Jehovah wor coming take care of her. So she always use to tell them, “Jehovah never let his servants down before.” It not stay long, she benefit from the relief supplies that our organization gave. They wor able to get the relief supplies because of the contribution dem we can make. Prisca neighbor dem wor surprise, and they tell her, “Your God never let you down, so we want learn more about him.” In  fact, seven of them started going to meeting.

13. According to Psalm 96:​9, how we can bring honor to Jehovah?

¹³ Read Psalm 96:9. We can bring honor to Jehovah when we get clean conduct. The priest dem who use to work in Jehovah temple suppose to keep their body clean. (Ex. 40:​30-32) But the most important one that for them to get clean conduct. (Ps. 24:​3, 4; 1 Pet. 1:​15, 16) So we need to work hard to get rid of “the old personality.” That mean any wrong thinking and bad behavior we get. But we must put on “the new personality,” that mean we must think and act like Jehovah. (Col. 3:​9, 10) With Jehovah help, even plenty people who been doing bad things can still change and put on the new personality.

14. Wetin you learn from Jack experience? (Also see the picture.)

¹⁴ Let talk about one man name Jack. He wor too wicked so they use to call him The Demon. Because of the wicked-wicked thing dem he use to do, the court say they must kill him. But when Jack wor waiting for the time they will kill him, he agree to study the Bible with one brother who use to visit the jail house. Even though Jack use to be wicked, he change his old ways and get baptize. The way Jack change make the security dem to cry when they wor telling him bye-bye the day he wor coming die. One soldier man who wor working to the jail house say: “Among the prisoner dem, Jack wor really wicked. Now he one of the good man.” One week after they kill Jack, the brother dem go back to conduct the meeting in the jail house. They meet one prisoner who attended the meeting for the first time. Wetin encourage this man to attend the meeting? That the way Jack change. It really touch the man heart so he wanted to know what he can do to worship Jehovah. It clear that our conduct can bring honor to our Father in heaven!—1 Pet. 2:12.

HOW JEHOVAH WILL GLORIFY HIS NAME IN THE FUTURE?

15. How Jehovah will glorify his name in the future? (Psalm 96:​10-13)

¹⁵ Read Psalm 96:​10-13. This last verse dem in Psalm 96 describe Jehovah to be fair  Judge and King. How Jehovah will glorify his name in the future? He will do it by the way he will judge. He will soon destroy Babylon the Great for spoiling his name. (Rev. 17:​5, 16; 19:​1, 2) Maybe some people who will see the way Babylon the Great will be destroy will join us to worship Jehovah. Then Jehovah will destroy Satan whole system, and all the people who spoiling his name, during Armageddon. But he will save all those who love him, obey him and happy to give him honor. (Mark 8:38; 2 Thess. 1:​6-10) After the final test that will come after Jesus One Thousand Year Rule, Jehovah will already na prove that everybody suppose to worship him. (Rev. 20:​7-10) During that time, “the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the honor of Jehovah as the waters cover the sea.”—Hab. 2:14.

¹⁶ It will really be wonderful to see everybody giving Jehovah the honor that he suppose to get! But until that time come, let all of us use every opportunity we get to give God honor. To show that this one really important, the Governing Body na choose Psalm 96:8 to be our yeartext for 2025. It say: “Give Jehovah the honor his name suppose to get.”
