Learn From the Last Things Some Faithful Men Dem Say
“Is not wisdom found among the aged, and does not understanding come with a long life?”—JOB 12:12.
WHAT THE MAIN POINT?
When we obey Jehovah God, we can get plenty blessings now-now and everlasting life in the future.
1. Why we can learn from older people?
ALL of us need advice that can help us to make good decisions in life. We can get this advice dem from elders and other mature Christians. If they older than us, we must not feel that their advice that old school thing. Jehovah want us to learn from older people. They na live for long time and they get plenty experience, understanding, and wisdom more than us.—Job 12:12.
2. Wetin we will talk about in this article?
2 Way back, Jehovah use some faithful older people to encourage and guide his people. For example, He use Moses, David, and the apostle John. All of them wor not living the same time, and their situation wor different-different. Before they die, they gave good-good advice to the young people. Each of this faithful older men dem talk about how it important to obey God. Jehovah put their good-good advice in the Bible for us today. So whether we young or old, we can benefit from reading their advice. (Rom. 15:4; 2 Tim. 3:16) In this article, we will talk about the last things this three older men dem say and the lessons we can learn from it.

3. What some work Moses use to do?
3 Moses use his whole life to work for Jehovah. He wor prophet, judge, commander, and writer. Moses wor having plenty experience in life! He free the Israelite dem from slavery in Egypt and he saw plenty of the miracles that Jehovah perform. Jehovah use him to write the first five books of the Bible. He also write Psalm 90, and maybe Psalm 91. Maybe he also write the book of Job.
4. Who Moses encourage, and why?
4 Just before Moses die, when he was 120 years old, he call all the Israelite dem together and remind them about the things they na see and pass through. Some of them who wor listening, saw the plenty miracles that Jehovah perform and the thing dem He do to Egypt when they wor young. (Ex. 7:3, 4) When Jehovah open the Red Sea, they walk through it and they saw how Jehovah destroy Pharaoh army. (Ex. 14:29-31) When they wor in the wilderness, they saw how Jehovah protect them and take care of them. (Deut. 8:3, 4) When they wor about to enter the Promise Land, Moses use that last opportunity to encourage the people. a
5. How the last thing Moses say in Deuteronomy 30:19, 20 encourage the Israelite dem?
5 Wetin Moses say? (Read Deuteronomy 30:19, 20.) The Israelites wor having wonderful hope for the future. With Jehovah blessing, the Israelite dem wor coming to live for long time in the land that he promise them. The land wor really beautiful and it wor having plenty food! Moses describe it for them and say: “Great and fine cities that you did not build, houses full of all sorts of good things that you did not work for, hewn cisterns that you did not dig, and vineyards and olive trees that you did not plant.”—Deut. 6:10, 11.
6. Why God allow other nations to capture the Israelite dem?
6 Moses also warn the Israelite dem. For them to continue living in that beautiful land, they suppose to obey Jehovah. Moses encourage them to “choose life” by listening to Jehovah and by “sticking to him.” But the Israelites not obey Jehovah. So after some time, God allow the Assyrians and the Babylonians to capture them and take them from their land.—2 Ki. 17:6-8, 13, 14; 2 Chron. 36:15-17, 20.
7. Wetin we can learn from what Moses say? (Also see the picture.)
7 What the lesson for us? When we obey Jehovah, we will live forever. Just like the Israelite dem who wor about to enter the Promise Land, we our self too will soon enter God new world that he promise. During that time, we will see the earth turning to paradise. (Isa. 35:1; Luke 23:43) Satan and his demons will be destroy forever. (Rev. 20:2, 3) False religion will not fool people again. (Rev. 17:16) Human being governments will not suffer people again. (Rev. 19:19, 20) Jehovah will not allow anybody to cause problem in paradise. (Ps. 37:10, 11) People all over the world will obey Jehovah laws, so they will live in unity and peace. So they will love and trust each other. (Isa. 11:9) Ehn that wonderful hope yeh! Beside that, if we obey Jehovah, we will continue to live in paradise forever and ever.— Ps. 37:29; John 3:16.
8. How Jehovah promise about everlasting life help one longtime missionary? (Jude 20, 21)
8 If we continue to think about the promise God made to give us everlasting life, we will want stick to him no matter what problem we face. (Read Jude 20, 21.) That promise can also help us to fight our own weakness. One longtime missionary in Africa who been fighting with certain weakness for long time say: “Just knowing that this weakness can stop me from getting everlasting life, make me to do my best to fight the problem and to really pray to Jehovah to help me. Because Jehovah help me, I wor able to serve him with good conscience.”

9. What problem dem David pass through in life?
9 David wor great king. He wor also musician, writer, warrior, and prophet. He pass through plenty problems. For some years, he was running away from King Saul who wanted to kill him. And when he wor king, he run away again because his son Absalom wanted to overthrow him. Even though David face this problem dem and made some mistakes, he continue to serve God until he die. Jehovah say David wor “a man agreeable to [His] heart.” So it important to listen to David advice!—Acts 13:22; 1 Ki. 15:5.
10. Why David advise his son Solomon who wor coming take his place?
10 For example, think about the advice that David gave his son Solomon who wor coming take his place. Jehovah choose this young man to build the temple so that pure worship can continue. (1 Chron. 22:5) Solomon wor coming face different-different problems. Wetin David tell him? Let see.
11. According to 1 Kings 2:2, 3, what advice David give Solomon, and what happen when Solomon obey that advice? (Also see the picture.)
11 Wetin David say? (Read 1 Kings 2:2, 3.) David tell his son that if he obey Jehovah, he will be successful. And for plenty years, Jehovah bless Solomon. (1 Chron. 29:23-25) He build the beautiful temple and write some Bible books. Plenty people get to know him because he wor wise and rich. (1 Ki. 4:34) But according to David, Solomon wor only coming be successful if he continue to obey Jehovah. But sad to say, when Solomon got old, he started worshiping false gods. Jehovah stop blessing Solomon, and he lost the wisdom to rule God people the right way.—1 Ki. 11:9, 10; 12:4.
12. Wetin we can learn from what David say?
12 What the lesson for us? When we obey, we will be successful. (Ps. 1:1-3) That true, Jehovah not promise to make us rich and popular like Solomon. But if we obey our God, he will give us wisdom that will help us to make good decisions. (Prov. 2:6, 7; Jas. 1:5) Jehovah advice can help us to make good decision about work, school, money and what we can do to enjoy our self. When we follow his advice, it will protect our friendship with him and we will get everlasting life. (Prov. 2:10, 11) We will also get good friends. And we will get the advice we need for our family to be happy.
13. Wetin help Carmen to be successful in life?
13 Carmen, who living in Mozambique, wor thinking that learning plenty book can make your life better. She went to one university and study how to design buildings. She say, “I really like the thing I was learning. But it wor taking plenty of my time and energy. I use to be in school from 7:30 in the morning until 6:00 in the evening. It wor hard for me to go to meeting, and my friendship with Jehovah wor getting weak. Deep down in my heart, I knew that I wor trying to serve two masters.” (Matt. 6:24) She pray about her situation and do research in our publications. She also say: “After I receive good advice from the elder dem and my ma, I decide to leave the university to go in full-time service. This one help me to make good decisions in my life, and I not get no regrets.”
14. What wor Moses and David main message?
14 Moses and David really love Jehovah and they knew that it important to obey him. In the last things they say, they encourage other people to follow their example by remaining faithful to Jehovah. The two of them also warn that anybody who leave Jehovah will lost their friendship with him and all the blessings he promise them. Their advice important for us today. Plenty years after that, another servant of Jehovah also explain how it important to remain faithful to God.

15. Wetin the apostle John pass through in life?
15 John wor close friend and apostle to Jesus Christ. (Matt. 10:2; John 19:26) John spend plenty time with Jesus preaching, and he saw him perform miracles. He remain faithful to Jesus when he wor going through different-different problems. He wor there when they kill Jesus and he saw him when he came back to life. He also saw the Christian congregation growing big until the good news wor “preached in all creation under heaven.”—Col. 1:23.
16. Who na benefit from John letters?
16 When John wor very old, he wor having the privilege to write the book of Revelation. (Rev. 1:1) He write the Gospel book that get his name. John also write three other Bible books. He write his third letter to one faithful Christian name Gaius, who he love like his own child. (3 John 1) By that time, he wor having plenty other spiritual children. What that faithful man write na encourage all Jesus disciples from that time to our time.
17. According to 3 John 4, what can really make us happy?
17 Wetin John write? (Read 3 John 4.) He write that obeying God can make us happy. By the time John write his third letter, some people wor spreading false teachings and dividing the congregation. But, other people continue “walking in the truth.” They obey Jehovah and continue “walking according to his commandments.” (2 John 4, 6) This faithful Christian dem made John happy and made Jehovah happy too.—Prov. 27:11.
18. Wetin we can learn from the things John say?
18 What the lesson for us? When we remain faithful it can make us happy. (1 John 5:3) For example, we can be happy when we know that we making Jehovah happy. Jehovah can really be happy when we avoid doing bad things and obey him. (Prov. 23:15) The angel dem in heaven can also be happy. (Luke 15:10) We too can be happy when we see our brother and sister dem remaining faithful, even when they persecute them or when they face temptation. (2 Thess. 1:4) Then when Jehovah destroy Satan world, we will be happy that we remain faithful to Jehovah.
19. Wetin one sister name Rachel say about teaching people the truth? (Also see the picture.)
19 We can really be happy when we teach people about Jehovah. Rachel, who living in the Dominican Republic, feel that teaching somebody about Jehovah that great honor. Thinking about her spiritual children, she say: “It hard to describe the happiness I can feel when I see my spiritual children loving Jehovah, relying on him and making changes in their life to make him happy. The happiness I get, it more than any sacrifice I made to teach them.”
THE BENEFIT WE CAN GET FROM THE LAST THINGS THIS FAITHFUL MEN DEM SAY
20. Wetin we get in common with Moses, David, and John?
20 The way Moses, David, and John live, it different from the way we living today. But we and them get plenty things in common. They serve the true God the same way we serving him too. Like them, we can pray to Jehovah and depend on him for help and advice. And like them, we convince that when we remain faithful to Jehovah he will bless us.
21. How Jehovah will bless us when we follow Moses, David, and John advice?
21 So, let all of us continue to follow the advice this faithful men dem gave by obeying Jehovah commandments. Then we will really be successful in everything we do. We will get life and live forever! (Deut. 30:20) And we will be happy because we know that we making our heavenly Father happy. Then he will bless us more than anything we can even think about.—Eph. 3:20.
