How we know that music was important during the Israelite them time?
MUSIC was important part of the Israelites culture. The Bible talk plenty about people playing music instrument and singing song. In fact, some part of the Bible that so-so songs. For example, the book of Psalms, Song of Solomon, and Lamentations. That the reason why the book they call Music in Biblical Life say, the Bible “make it clear that the Israelites use music in plenty of the thing them they use to do.”
Music in everyday life. The Israelites use to play music to show how they were feeling. (Isa. 30:29) The women use to play tambourines, be happy singing songs and dancing when they putting new king in chair. They also use to sing and dance when the soldiers win war and when they having program for worship. (Judg. 11:34; 1 Sam. 18:6, 7; 1 Ki. 1:39, 40) The Israelite them also use to sing sorrowful songs to show how they were feeling when somebody die. (2 Chron. 35:25) So, the McClintock and Strong’s Cyclopedia say, “It clear that the Israelites really use to like music.”
Music in the royal court. The kings in Israel use to enjoy music. For example, King Saul call David to be musician in his palace. (1 Sam. 16:18, 23) When David became king, he made some music instruments, write fine-fine songs, and later on organize people to be singing in Jehovah temple. (2 Chron. 7:6; Amos 6:5) King Solomon use to be having men and women to sing for him in his palace.—Eccl. 2:8.
Music in worship. The Israelites use music to worship Jehovah. In fact, 4,000 musicians use to sing in the temple in Jerusalem. (1 Chron. 23:5) They use to play cymbals, stringed instruments, harps, and trumpets. (2 Chron. 5:12) But this musician them were not the only people who use to worship Jehovah with songs. Plenty Israelites use to sing the Songs of the Ascents when they going to Jerusalem for the yearly program. (Ps. 120-134) According to Jewish writings, the Israelite them use to sing the Hallel Psalms a during the Passover.
Music still important for God people today. (Jas. 5:13) Singing song part of our worship. (Eph. 5:19) Music can make us united. (Col. 3:16) It can give us strength when we going through problems. (Acts 16:25) Music that one good way to show that we love Jehovah and get faith in him.
