My family come from Tonga, the country get about 170 island, Tonga dey for the southwest side of Pacific ocean. For Tonga we no really get money, we no get electricity or vehicle. But for our house we get tap water, and we get some chicken. When school dey for holiday me and my two brothers de help our papa work for our farm, for the farm we plant banana, yam, taro and cassava. My papa de care for our family with the money wey e get from our farm and from small-small job wey e de do. Like many people wey dey live for the island, our family really get respect for Bible, and we de go church everytime. Even with that one, we believe say the only way to make our life better na to move go another country.

 When I dey 16 years, my uncle arrange to carry our family go California, for U.S.A. E no really easy for us to adjust because of the kind way them de live for there. Even though things come de better small-small, na for poor area where people de use drugs and de do bad-bad things we de live. Many times we de hear as people de shoot gun for night, and most of our neighbors de fear make thief no come attack them. Many people de carry gun to protect theirself or to settle quarrel. I still get one bullet for my chest because of that kind quarrel wey happen.

 Because I want be like the other young people wey dey my school. I come start to de go party wey people de behave anyhow, de over drink, de do bad-bad things, and de use drugs. Small time, I come de use cocaine well-well. To fit continue to buy drugs, I start to de thief. Even though say my family members de go church well-well, I no ever receive help to fight the temptation from my agemate to do bad thing. Many times them arrest me because of the bad things wey I de do. My life de worse more-more and I no fit control-am! At last I go prison.

 One day for 1997, as I dey for prison, another prisoner notice say I hold Bible for hand. Na Christmas period, and na time wey dey holy well-well for Tonga people. E asked me if I know wetin Bible really talk about when them born Jesus, but I no get any idea about wetin Bible talk. E show me wetin Bible talk about how them born Jesus, and I see say many of the things wey concern Christmas no even dey Bible. (Matthew 2:​1-12; Luke 2:​5-14) The thing really surprise me, and this one come make me want know other things wey Bible talk. This man don de attend meeting wey Jehovah Witness people de do for prison, and I decide say I go join-am. Them de talk about the Bible book of Revelation. Even though say I no too understand wetin them talk, I come see say everything wey them teach na from Bible.

 When Jehovah Witness people talk say them want study Bible with me, I really happy and I accept. For the first time, I come learn about wetin God promise, say e go change the earth to paradise for future. (Isaiah 35:​5-8) E just clear say for me to make God happy, I really need to change many things for my life. I come see say Jehovah God no go allow me enter the paradise if I continue with all my bad character. (1 Corinthians 6:​9, 10) So I decide to control my bad temper, stop to smoke, stop to de over drink and de use drug anyhow.

 For 1999, before I finish my time for the prison, them transfer me go another prison. E pass one year and I no see Jehovah Witness people. But I don make up my mind to continue to de change my life. For the year 2000, government cancel my permission to remain for the United States, and send me back to Tonga.

 When I reach Tonga, I quick-quick find Jehovah Witness people and start to study Bible again. I love wetin I de learn, and e sweet me when I see say Jehovah Witness people for Tonga de use Bible support everything wey them de teach as Jehovah witness people for United States de do.

 People know my papa for the community because e dey for high position for the church wey e de go. My family suprise and them no first like-am as I de do things with Jehovah’s Witness people. But later, my papa and mama happy because wetin I de learn from Bible de help me to stop my bad character and live better life.

 One of the things wey hard me pass to stop na one drink wey people de drink anyhow for my place. Many men for Tonga de spend plenty hours every week de drink kava, kava na drink wey de relax person mind and na from the roots of pepper plant them de make-am. Now wey I don go back to Tonga, I join them and start to go kava club almost every night de drink kava until I no go know wetin I de do again. Part of the problem wey I get na the friends wey I de follow wey no de respect wetin Bible talk. At last, I recieve help say my character de make God vex. I start to change so that God go bless me and dey happy with me.

 I start to attend all the meeting of Jehovah Witness people. As I de make friends with people wey de try to make God happy this one help me to fit fight temptations. For 2002, I baptize as one of Jehovah Witness.

 I don really gain as God dey patient as Bible talk: “Jehovah . . . dey patient with una because e no want destroy anybody but e want make everybody repent.” (2 Peter 3:⁠9) E for don end this wicked world long time ago, but e allow-am continue reach this time for people like me to fit be im friend. I de like to think say e fit use me to help other people to come be im friend.

 With Jehovah help I stop to destroy my life. I no de thief again from other people to fit de pay for the drug wey I de take. But I de try to help my neighbors to become Jehovah friends too. As I continue to make Jehovah Witness people my friends, I meet my lovely wife, Tea. We get one young son and we de live happy family life. All of us de teach other people wetin Bible don promise about the hope wey we get to live forever for paradise wey peace go dey.
