First Corinthians 10:1-33
10 Now my brothers, I want make una know say our papa-papa them be dey under the cloud and all of them pass inside the sea,
2 and all of them baptize as people wey de follow Moses through the cloud and the sea,
3 and all of them chop the same food from God,
4 and all of them drink the same drink from God. Them be de drink from the rock wey God provide wey follow them, and that rock mean* Christ.
5 Even with that one, God no happy with many of them, and so e kill them for the wilderness.
6 Now this things come be example for us so that bad things no go de hungry us just as e hungry them.
7 And make una no be people wey de worship idols, as some of them do, just as them don write-am say: “The people sitdown to chop and drink. Then, them stand up to enjoy theirself.”
8 And make we no de do sex wey no clean* as some of them do sex wey no clean,* only for 23,000 of them to die for one day.
9 And make we no test Jehovah as some of them test-am, only for snakes to kill them.
10 And make we no de complain as some of them complain, only for the person wey de destroy to kill them.
11 Now this things happen to them as examples, and them don write-am as warning for us wey the end of the world* don come meet.
12 So make the person wey think say e de stand dey careful make e no fall.
13 No temptation wey don come to una wey no de happen to people. But God no de fail,* and e no go allow the temptation pass wetin una fit bear. But with the temptation, e go still open way so that una go fit endure-am.
14 So my dear brothers and sisters, make una run from idol worship.
15 I de talk to una as people wey de reason well; so make una decide for unaself whether wetin I talk na true or no be true.
16 The cup of blessing wey we de bless,* this one no mean say we de share from the blood of the Christ? The bread wey we de break, this one no mean say we de share from the body of the Christ?
17 Na one bread dey, so even though say we plenty, we be one body because all of us de share that one bread.
18 Think about Israel people: No be people wey de chop the sacrifice them, de join for the worship wey them de do for altar?
19 So, wetin I de talk? Say the sacrifice wey them de give idol mean anything, or say idol mean anything?
20 No, but I de talk say the thing wey people of the nations de sacrifice, them de sacrifice-am to demons and no be to God; and I no want make una get anything to do with the demons.
21 Una no go fit de drink from the cup of Jehovah and the cup of demons. Una no go fit de chop from “the table of Jehovah” and the table of demons.
22 Or ‘we de do wetin go make Jehovah de jealous’? We no strong pass-am, or we strong pass-am?
23 I get right to do everything, but no be everything get gain. I get right to do everything, but no be everything de encourage person.
24 Make each person no de look for wetin go benefit only imself, but make e be wetin go benefit another person too.
25 Make una chop anything wey them de sell for meat market, and no de ask question because of una conscience,
26 because “na Jehovah get the earth and everything wey dey inside.”
27 If any person wey no de serve God invite una and una want go, make una chop anything wey e put for una front, and no ask question because of una conscience.
28 But if anybody tell una say, “This one na something wey them give as sacrifice,” then make una no chop because of the person wey tell una and because of conscience.
29 I no de talk about una own conscience, but na about the conscience of the other person. Why the conscience of another person go judge my freedom?
30 Even if I de chop and de talk thank you, why I go still de do like that if e de make other people talk bad about me?
31 So, whether una de chop or de drink or de do any other thing, make una de do everything to praise God.
32 Make una no do anything wey go make Jew people, Greek people, and the congregation of God fall,
33 just as I de try to make everybody happy for everything, no be to look for wetin go benefit only myself, but na wetin go benefit many people, so that God go fit save them.
