Second Peter 3:1-18

  • People wey de use good things do yeye no care about destruction wey de come (1-7)

  • Jehovah no de delay (8-10)

  • Think about the kind people wey una suppose be (11-16)

    • New heavens and new earth (13)

  • Dey careful make them no make una miss road (17, 18)

3  My dear brothers, this na the second letter wey I de write to una, and for this one, just as I do for the first one, I de remind una wetin una don already know, so that e go move una to continue to think well,  so that una go remember the things wey the holy prophets don talk before, and the commandments of the Lord and Savior wey e use the apostles* tell una.  E dey important make una know say, for last days, people wey de use good things do yeye* go dey. And them go de do the things wey them like,  and de talk say: “E promise say e go dey around,* but where e dey now? Because since the time wey our papa-papa them die come reach now, everything just be the same as e dey from the time wey God make things.”  Because them no want remember say, long time ago, God make heavens, and say na wetin God talk make earth* come out of water and stand well for the middle of water,  and say na this things them take destroy the world of that time when plenty water cover the whole earth.  But na still wetin God talk make-am keep the heavens and earth wey dey now reach the time when e go use fire destroy them for the day of judgment and when e go destroy people wey no obey-am.  But my dear brothers, make una no forget say one thousand years be like one day for Jehovah eye and one day for-am be like one thousand years for us.  Jehovah no de delay to do wetin e promise as some people de think, but e dey patient with una because e no want destroy anybody but e want make everybody repent. 10  But the day of Jehovah de come like thief. That day, the heavens go pass comot with loud noise, but the things wey dey heaven and earth go melt as them de really hot. And the earth and the things for inside go open.* 11  As e be say all this things go melt like this, make una think about the kind person wey una suppose be and wetin una suppose do wey go show say una dey holy and una hold God tight, 12  as una de wait and de always remember say the day of Jehovah de come.* Because when that day come, fire go burn the heavens, and the things wey dey heaven and earth go melt because of the strong heat. 13  But new heavens and new earth dey wey we de wait for as e don promise, and na wetin correct for God eye them go always do for there. 14  So my dear brothers, as e be say una de wait for this things, make una do una best so that at the end, e go see say una no get any stain and any mark and una get peace. 15  Another thing be say, as our Lord dey patient with una, make una de see-am as something wey go save una just as Paul our dear brother use the sense wey God give-am write to una, 16  and e talk about this things for all im letters. But e get some things for the letters wey dey hard to understand, and na this things people wey no know anything* and wey de believe everything de turn upside down, just as them de turn the other parts for the word of God, and this one go make God destroy them. 17  So my dear brothers, as una don already know this things, make una dey careful so that this wicked people* no go use the lie-lie things wey them de teach deceive una and make una fall from the correct way.* 18  Instead, make una continue to do wetin go make una get the special favor of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ more-more, and continue to learn about-am. Make e get the glory now and forever. Amen.
