Romans 3:1-31

  • “God go always dey true” (1-8)

  • Both Jew and Greek people dey under sin (9-20)

  • Person dey righteous through faith (21-31)

    • Everybody don fail to show the glory of God (23)

3  So wetin be the gain if person na Jew, or wetin be the benefit if person circumcise?  For every way, plenty gain dey. First of all, na them God give the holy things wey e don talk.  So wetin go happen if some no get faith? That one go prove say God no dey faithful, because them no get faith?  E no fit ever happen! But God go always dey true even if everybody na liar, just as them don write-am say: “So that the things wey you de talk go fit prove say you dey righteous and you go fit win when them judge you.”  But, if the things wey we de do wey no correct de really show say God dey righteous, then wetin we go talk? No be bad thing God do when e show say e de vex, na bad thing e do? (I just de talk like human.)  No way! If na so, how God go judge the world?  But if my lie don really show-am clear say God always dey true and this one de make people praise-am, then why them de judge me as sinner?  And why we no just talk say, “Make we do bad things so that good things fit come”? as some lie-lie people de claim say we de talk. The judgment against this kind people na the correct judgment.  So wetin we think? Na we better pass? No be so at all! Because we don already talk before say both Jew people and Greek people, all of them dey under sin; 10  just as them don write-am say: “Nobody dey righteous, even one person no dey. 11  Nobody get deep sense, nobody de look for God. 12  Everybody don turn comot, all of them don dey useless, nobody de show say e dey kind, even one person no dey.” 13  “Their throat na grave wey open; them don use their tongue deceive people.” “Snake poison dey under their lips.” 14  “And na so-so curse-curse and bitter things full their mouth.” 15  “Their leg de hurry to go kill.”* 16  “To cause serious problem and suffer for people na their way, 17  and them never know how to make peace.” 18  “Fear of God no dey their eye.” 19  Now we know say all the things wey the Law talk, na for people wey dey under Law, so that every mouth go close and all the world go get the punishment wey them suppose get from God. 20  So, God no go talk say anybody* dey righteous for im front because say e de obey law, since the law de make people know wetin sin really be. 21  But now, e don show clear say God dey righteous no be because of law, as the Law and the Prophets talk. 22  True-true, God go fit talk say person dey righteous through faith for Jesus Christ, for everybody wey get faith; because partial no dey. 23  Everybody don sin and fail to show the glory of God. 24  And na free gift them get as God don talk say them dey righteous because of im special favor through the price wey Christ Jesus pay to free people. 25  God give-am as offering, so that we go fit make peace with God* through the faith wey we get for im blood. This one happen to show say God dey righteous, because as God de bear things,* e forgive the sins wey people don do for past. 26  This one happen to show say God dey righteous for this time, so that e go fit dey righteous even when e de talk say person wey get faith for Jesus dey righteous. 27  So, wetin go make person de boast? No reason dey to boast. Person go boast because of law? Say e de do the things wey law talk? No, no be so, but na because of the law wey concern the faith wey person get. 28  We know say na faith de make God talk say person dey righteous, no be because the person de obey law. 29  Or e be God for only Jew people? No be God for people of the nations too? True-true, na still God for people of the nations. 30  Since God na one, e go talk say people wey don circumcise dey righteous because of their faith and people wey never circumcise dey righteous because of their faith. 31  So make we cancel law because of our faith? E no go fit ever happen! Instead, we go support law.
