First Corinthians 11:1-34

  • “De follow my example” (1)

  • Who be head and who suppose cover head (2-16)

  • To do the Lord Evening Meal (17-34)

11  Make una de follow my example, just as I de follow the example of Christ.  I de praise una because una de remember me for everything and una de really hold the things wey I teach una* just as I don give una.  But I want make una know say the head of every man na Christ, and the head of woman na man, and the head of Christ na God.  Every man wey de pray or de talk message from God and e cover im head, de shame im head;  but every woman wey de pray or de talk message from God and e no cover im head, de shame im head, because na the same thing with woman wey shave head.  If woman no de cover im head, make e cut im hair comot; but if na disgrace for woman to cut im hair comot or shave-am, make e cover im head.  Man no suppose cover im head, since na the image and glory of God e be, but woman na the glory of man.  Man no come from woman, but na woman come from man.  Another thing be say, God no make man because of the woman, but God make woman because of the man. 10  Na the reason why the woman suppose wear something for head, to show say e dey under authority, because of the angels. 11  Apart from that one, among people wey de follow the Lord, woman no dey separate from man and man no dey separate from woman. 12  Just as the woman come from the man, so too men de come out from women; but everything come from God. 13  Make una decide for unaself: Na correct thing for woman to pray to God and e no cover im head? 14  The way God make humans* no teach una say na shame for man to get long hair, 15  but if woman get long hair na honor for the woman? God don give woman hair instead of headcover. 16  But if anybody want argue to support any other custom, we no get any other one, even the congregations of God no get. 17  But as I de tell una to do this things, I no de praise una, because una meeting no de bring better thing. Instead, e de cause more problem. 18  First of all, I hear say when una come together for congregation, una no de dey together as one; and somehow I believe-am. 19  The truth na say, different-different group go still dey among una so that the people wey God happy with, fit still show clear. 20  When una gather together for one place, no be the Lord Evening Meal una really de chop. 21  When the time reach for una to chop-am, each person go don already chop im own evening food before the time. And then some people go de hungry but other people go don drink sotey them drunk. 22  Una no get house where una go de chop and de drink? Or una no de show respect for the congregation of God and de make people wey no get anything de shame? Wetin I go tell una? I suppose praise una? For this matter I no go praise una. 23  The thing wey I receive from the Lord, I still give-am to una, and na say for the night wey them go give the Lord Jesus to the enemies, e take bread, 24  and after e thank God, e break-am and talk say: “This one mean my body wey I give for una. Make una continue to do this one to remember me.” 25  E still do the same thing with the cup, after them don chop the evening food finish, de talk say: “This cup mean the new agreement wey go work because of my blood. Make una continue to do this one to remember me, anytime wey una drink-am.” 26  Anytime wey una chop this bread and drink from this cup, una de continue to talk about the death of the Lord, until e come. 27  So anybody wey chop the bread or drink from the cup of the Lord when e no suppose to, e don sin against the body and the blood of the Lord. 28  Make each person first dey sure after e don check imself well, then na only that time e fit chop the bread and drink from the cup. 29  Because the person wey chop and drink when e no understand wetin the body mean, e don chop and drink judgment against imself. 30  Na because of this one many people among una dey weak and de sick, and some of una de die.* 31  But if we really check ourself well, them no go judge us. 32  But when them judge us, this one mean say Jehovah de correct* us, so that them no go condemn us with the world. 33  So, my brothers, when una come together to chop-am, make una wait for each other. 34  If anybody de hungry, make e chop for house so that when una gather together, e no go be for judgment. But as for the remaining matter, I go handle them when I come.
