First Timothy 3:1-16
3 This one na true talk: If any man de try im best to be overseer,* na fine work e want do.
2 So the overseer go be person wey nobody fit talk say e de do bad thing, husband of one wife, e get control for how e de behave, e de reason well,* e sabi arrange things well, e de like to welcome people, e sabi teach well,
3 no be drunkard, e no de like trouble,* but e de accept the ideas of* other people, e no de quarrel-quarrel, and e no like money too much,
4 make e be man wey de direct* im own family for fine way, wey get children wey de obey* and really dey serious
5 (because if any man no know how to direct* im own family, how e go fit care for the congregation of God?),
6 make e no be man wey be new disciple, because e fit start to carry body up and e go get the judgment wey Devil don get.
7 Another thing na say, make e still be person wey people for outside de talk well about,* so that e no go bring shame* and enter the trap of Devil.
8 For the same way, ministerial servants suppose be people wey dey serious, no de deceive people with wetin them talk,* no de drink too much wine, no get long-throat to gain something wey no be their own,
9 people wey de really hold the holy secret wey be faith, and them get clean conscience.
10 And make them first test them to see whether them qualify;* then make them serve as ministerial servants, as long as nobody fit talk say them de do bad things.
11 For the same way, women suppose be people wey dey serious, no de talk bad about other people, get control for how them de behave, and de show say them get faith for everything wey them de do.
12 Make ministerial servants be husband of one wife and de direct their children and their own family for fine way.
13 The men wey de do their work for fine way de make good name for theirself and them go really dey free to talk about the faith wey them get for Christ Jesus.
14 I de write this things to you even though say small time, I get hope say I go come see you,
15 so that if I no quick come, you fit know how you suppose behave for the house of God wey be the congregation of the God wey dey alive, and na pillar and support of the truth.
16 True-true, the holy secret about how person fit serve God well na big thing wey person no fit deny: ‘Jesus come as human, when e go back as spirit God talk say e dey righteous, e appear to angels, them preach about-am for people wey no know God, people believe-am for the world, and them receive-am for heaven with honor.’
