1  O The·oph′i·lus, for the first book, I write to you about all the things wey Jesus start to do and teach,  until the day wey God take-am go heaven, after e don use holy spirit give direction to the apostles wey e don choose.  After e don suffer, e use plenty proof show imself to them so that them go really believe say e dey alive. Them see-am for 40 days and e de talk about the Kingdom of God.  When e meet with them, e command them say: “Make una no comot from Jerusalem, but make una continue to wait for the thing wey the Papa don promise, wey una don hear from me.  Because true-true, John baptize with water, but small time* after this one, them go baptize una with holy spirit.”  So when them don gather together, them ask-am say: “Lord, you de bring the Kingdom back to Israel for this time?”  E tell them say: “E no dey una hand to know the time or season wey only the Papa get the right to decide.  But una go get power when una receive holy spirit, and una go tell people about me for Jerusalem, for everywhere for Ju·de′a and Sa·mar′i·a, and for every corner* for the earth.”  After e don talk this things, as them de look, e go up and cloud cover-am and them no see-am again. 10  And as them de look the sky when e don de go, at once two men wey wear white cloth stand near them 11  and talk say: “People of Gal′i·lee, why una de stand de look the sky? This Jesus wey be dey with una and wey don go up enter the sky go come for the same way as una don see-am de enter the sky.” 12  Then, them go back to Jerusalem from one mountain wey them de call Olive mountain, wey near Jerusalem, and this one na just how far person fit travel for Sabbath day. 13  When them reach there, them go the room for up where them de stay. People wey dey there na Peter together with John and James and Andrew, Philip and Thomas, Bar·thol′o·mew and Matthew, James wey be son of Al·phae′us, Simon wey de put all im heart for work, and Judas wey be son of James. 14  With one mind, all of them continue to pray plenty times, together with some women and Mary wey be Jesus mama and with im brothers. 15  For those days, Peter stand up among the brothers (the number* of people altogether na around 120) and e talk say: 16  “Men, my brothers, e dey important make the thing wey dey inside the word of God happen, wey the holy spirit don talk through David about Judas wey take the people make them go arrest Jesus. 17  E dey among us before and e join for this work. 18  (So this man buy the land with the money wey e get from the bad thing wey e do. And e fall nack head for ground first, im body burst open* and everything for inside im belle pour come out. 19  So everybody wey de live for Jerusalem know about this thing wey happen, and them begin call the land for their language A·kel′da·ma, wey mean, “Land of Blood.”) 20  Them write-am for the book of Psalms say, ‘Make the place wey e de stay turn to empty place and make nobody live for there, and make another person take im work as overseer.’ 21  So e dey important say from the men wey follow us for all the time wey the Lord Jesus do im work among us, 22  from when John baptize-am until the day wey Jesus wey be dey with us go heaven, one of this men suppose be witness together with us about im resurrection.” 23  So them mention two people, Joseph wey them de call Bar′sab·bas, wey them still de call Justus, and Mat·thi′as. 24  Then them pray and talk say: “O Jehovah, you wey know wetin dey inside everybody heart, make you show us which of this two men you don choose 25  to take this work and position as apostle, wey Judas leave to go im own way.” 26  So them cast lots to know which of them God choose, and the lot fall for Mat·thi′as, and so them count-am* join the 11 apostles.
