Acts 10:1-48
10 Now e get one man for Caes·a·re′a wey im name na Cornelius. E be army officer* of one group of soldiers for Italy.*
2 Na man wey really get respect for God and wey de fear God together with everybody for im house. And e give plenty gifts wey them de give to help poor people and e de really beg God for help everytime.
3 Around the ninth hour for the day,* e see the angel of God clear for one vision as e come meet-am and talk say: “Cornelius!”
4 Cornelius look-am, e fear, and ask say: “Lord, wetin you want make I do?” E tell-am say: “God de notice your prayers and the gifts wey you de give to help poor people and e de always remember-am.
5 So now, send men to Jop′pa and call one man wey im name na Simon wey them de call Peter.
6 This man de stay as visitor with Simon wey de use animal skin make leather and wey get house near sea.”
7 As the angel wey talk to-am just comot, e call two of im servants and one soldier wey get deep respect for God from among people wey de work for-am,
8 and e tell them everything and send them to Jop′pa.
9 The next day as them continue their journey and don de near the city, Peter go ontop the house to pray around the sixth hour.*
10 But e really start to hungry and e want chop. As them de prepare food, e start to see vision
11 and e see heaven open and them de bring something* come down to the earth wey be like one big linen material wey them hold for the four corners.
12 And different-different kind of animals wey get four leg and animals wey de crawl* for the earth and birds for heaven dey inside-am.
13 Then one voice tell-am say: “Get up, Peter, kill and chop!”
14 But Peter talk say: “Lord, I no go fit do-am, because I never ever chop anything wey no dey holy and wey no dey clean.”
15 And the voice tell-am the second time again say: “Stop to talk say the things wey God don clean dey dirty.”
16 This one happen the third time, and at once them carry the thing* go heaven.
17 As Peter still de surprise about wetin the vision wey e don see fit mean, na that time the men wey Cornelius send ask where Simon house dey, and them stand for the gate.
18 Them call and ask whether Simon wey them de call Peter na visitor for there.
19 As Peter still de think about the vision, the spirit talk say: “See! Three men de find you.
20 So get up, go downstairs and go with them. No doubt at all because na me send them.”
21 Then Peter go downstairs go meet the men and talk say: “Na me be this, the person wey una de find. Why una come?”
22 Them talk say: “Cornelius na one army officer, man wey de do wetin correct for God eye and de fear God, and the whole nation of Jew people de talk well about-am. One holy angel give-am direction from God say make them tell you to come im house, and make e hear wetin you want talk.”
23 So e tell them make them come inside and stay as im visitors.
The next day, e ready imself and follow them go. And some of the brothers from Jop′pa go with-am.
24 The next day, e enter Caes·a·re′a. Cornelius don already de wait for them, and e don call im family people together and im tight friends.
25 As Peter enter, Cornelius meet-am. E kneel down for im front and e bow down for-am.
26 But Peter raise-am up and talk say: “Stand up, I be person like you too.”
27 As e de talk with-am, e go inside and see plenty people gather.
28 E tell them say: “Una really know say e dey against law for Jew person to mix with or meet person wey no be Jew person. But God don show me say I no suppose talk say any person no dey holy or no dey clean.
29 So when them call me, I no talk say I no go come, I just come. So, tell me why una talk say make I come.”
30 Then Cornelius talk say: “Around this time four days ago, I de pray for my house for the ninth hour.* Just that time, one man wey wear cloth wey de shine stand for my front,
31 and e talk say: ‘Cornelius, God don hear your prayer and e don remember the gifts wey you de give to help poor people.
32 So send people go Jop′pa and call Simon wey them de call Peter. This man na visitor for the house of Simon wey dey near the sea and wey de use animal skin make leather.’
33 So quick-quick, I send them make them call you, and you do well as you come here. So now, all of us don gather for front of God to hear all the things wey Jehovah don command you to talk.”
34 With this one, Peter start to talk, and e say: “Now I don really understand say God no de do partial,
35 but for every nation, God de accept any person wey de fear-am and de do wetin correct.
36 E send message to the people of Israel to tell them the good news of peace through Jesus Christ. Na this person be the Lord of everybody.
37 Una know the thing wey them talk about for the whole of Ju·de′a, wey start from Gal′i·lee after the baptism wey John preach:
38 about Jesus wey come from Naz′a·reth, how God anoint-am with holy spirit and power, and e go the whole land de do good and de heal everybody wey Devil de suffer, because God dey with-am.
39 And we see* all the things wey e do for the country of Jew people and for Jerusalem, but them kill-am as them hang-am ontop the pole.*
40 God bring-am back to life for the third day, and allow-am to appear.*
41 E no appear to everybody, but na to us wey chop and drink with-am after e come back to life. God choose us before time to see and talk about-am.
42 And e still command us to preach to people and to really preach well say, na this person God don choose to judge people wey dey alive and wey don die.
43 All the prophets talk about Jesus, say through im name, God go forgive the sins of everybody wey de put their faith for-am.”
44 As Peter still de talk about this things, everybody wey de hear the word receive the holy spirit,
45 and people wey don circumcise wey believe the good news* wey come with Peter really surprise, because people of the nations de receive the free gift of the holy spirit too.
46 And them hear them de speak different-different language* and de praise God. Then Peter talk say:
47 “Anybody fit talk say make them no baptize this people with water, people wey don receive the holy spirit just like us?”
48 As e talk that one, e give command make them baptize them for the name of Jesus Christ. Then them tell-am say make e stay for some days.
